This is such an amazing pianist ... how he gets softer at the end, then even softer, and still softer. His left hand parts are so well thought out. Nobody among the candidates can hold a candle to his interpretations. He's really a genius, and they should have given him 1st prize!
I haven't listened to the others, but I can pretty much guess what the top prize-winners sound like, because they usually all sound pretty much the same. You're right: Dumont has something special. He's a real musician.
Just listened to Carlo Zecchi's recording of this same piece and, where the Italian merely floats prettily over the surface of the music, Dumont takes us deep into its heart, revealing it to be so much more than merely a lullaby. No doubt he didn't have the requisite power or prestidigitation to win, but he's one I'd travel to hear.

A piece made for him, a pure delight
the best interpretation
what a lovely performance, stunning.
His performance is played with such empathetic artistry from the heart. The silence after the last note was reverential
