This flash back shows very specifically that Aizen chose all of his subordinates very precisely so that he could manipulate them. He probably sent that strong arrancar and probably MADE it that strong and then killed it in front of her afterward to show her that he could protect her AND give her strength to protect the ones she loved. He knew it would make her weak willed and allow him to get what he wanted. He most likely did it with everyone in his court.

Comes out of nowhere and takes Ukitake out in an instant, frees Hallibel from Toshiro's ice prison, goes head to head with multiple vizards and takes Mashiro, a lieutenant out in the process.Then gets a test of a Kensei, a captain's Bankai at point blank and still doesn't go down and....... Spoilers: We all know his role in taking care of Yamamoto, the one and only strongest Shinigami.Aizen mi8 not have needed the Espadas but he sure needed him.
It’s too bad about the censoring. Not for the gore-factor, but for the narrative impact. It’s like when Ishida got his arm literally ripped off during the Ulquiorra fight, but in the anime it’s just slightly injured. You miss out on the impact. Or you did, until you realized characters in Shonen can survive almost ANYTHING. 🙂
