      You can algo add a sub without the sub output. You connect your sound supply to the sub and then the sub to your speakers using RCA cables

    I got the r1280dbs last year and I just ordered the T5. The 1280's by themselves are already incredible with really good bass in my opinion but I'm no audiophile. The sound is very crisp and clear. But one thing I have learned is that you really want to make sure that your speakers are either at head level or you want to angle them so they are angled towards your head if you use them as desktop speakers like I (and this youtuber) do. But proper speaker stands are expensive AF. So what I did was take some harder foam like material from some box or whatever, and I put them under the box on the front side angling them. They aren't too ugly or distracting, while providing a very cheap solution to the problem. If you have them flat on the desk they will still sound great but if you angle them towards your ears or have them on ear level the mids and highs are much clearer and punchier

  • @powersliding
    @powersliding 3 года назад +8

    i couldnt get my r1280dbs to have a good mid range and bass mix, kept turning the knob...but when i reduced the bass know to around 9 oclock....the sound is amazing...now all i need to do to compliment those 4inch is to turn it into a mid range by adding a sub. according to the manual, adding a sub would recalibrate those 4 inch speakers away from bass to the mids..thats why adding a sub just takes the sound to the next level. amazing tweeters

    • @CheeseOnEverything
      @CheeseOnEverything  3 года назад

      That's what I thought when I first had them by themselves. They're good tweeters and mids, just no bass.

    These speakers are amazing value for money, also sound very good without a sub with diff kind of music- blues, rock, hiphop but also deep techno, hardcore etc the really pack a punch.. but they also sound very good in their mid/highs

    Why didn't you go straight for the S350DB ? Or the newer S360DB? Some say that although the sub should be the same, it is better integrated with the two speakers, and it sounds better.
    The price should be more or less the same, at least here in Italy, the S350DB is about 300, while the R1280DBS would be 150 , and the t5 sub another 140.

    • @CheeseOnEverything
      @CheeseOnEverything  2 года назад +1

      It was just personal preference, they're both good combos. The satellite speakers on the 350 has the port on the back side of the speaker and I wanted mine in the front for better acoustics. Also I wasn't a big fan of the puck controller whereas the 1280s has a remote.

    • @CheeseOnEverything

    Thanks for the great video upload! I wish I would have seen this a couple of weeks back prior to purchasing the Edifier R1280T model. I love those speakers, but want to be able to get a bass boost by adding the T5 subwoofer. The R1280T model don't have a "sub out" option, so would the T5 subwoofer still be a viable option to connect to them? I'm currently connecting to the AT-LP60X turntable model; it has an ANALOG OUT 3.5mm port only, so using a 3.5mm to RCA CABLE, connect the turntable to the back of the subwoofer, and then using RCA to RCA cables, connect the sub to the speakers. I haven't gone about doing it, but I was wondering if that's how I would go about doing so for the perfect combination of clarity and sound given my equipment. Sadly enough my Logitech Z560 5.1 system does not sound anywhere near as good as it used to. Thanks in advance!

    • @CheeseOnEverything
      @CheeseOnEverything  3 года назад

      I guess the only option then would be to use a 3.5mm splitter and feed the same signal directly to the sub. Don't know if it'll sound as good though cuz the speakers aren't differentiating the crossover frequency.
