At this point I'd settle for a graphic novel of Niel Blookamps version of the film he's had in mind. Using the talented artist of the image's shown with story and details would be a great experience for the masses.

If that really was the idea, it may be a good thing it never saw the light of day - but it sounds quite plausible because that would be a way to make the story look a little like District 9: and movies that end up looking like different variations of District 9 are all Blomkamp seems interested in making.
Would this movie have been good? I dunno. What I do know is that I want to see it.

Even if, let’s say, the direction, the acting and the effects were good, what concept in this suggests that the writing would be good? Because it seems like the most generic idea for an Alien film: evil company does things, things go wrong, hero has to save the day, the end. Without mentioning silly stuff like the xenomorph suit, there’s very little that makes this a promising film, even less if you consider how heavy of a weight it would be carrying by having Ripley and Hicks back into the series, feels like it would be another The Force Awakens.

@@mitch17538 but they didn't. They greenlit the film and were through a large amount of pre production and were looking for filming locations. They were pretty much getting ready to film. So i don't see how fox would d turn it down.

I always dismissed Alien 3 as a cryosleep induced dream anyway.
That would be one story to tell that, coz in the books they say you do dream in cryo and are unable to wake if you do have a nightmare

I'd take that cryosleep induced dream than the nightmarish crap of Alien 4.
I think they were going for more of a "hopeless" vibe in Alien 3 and having both Hicks and especially Newt (a child the saving of whom was a major driving force of Aliens) and even Bishop who Ripley has to euthanize to stop his suffering lays the foundation for that. I believe it was also intended at the time that Alien 3 was going to be the final movie in the franchise, but obviously it's a very lucrative one so they found a way of working around Ripley having been disintegrated in the foundry at the end of 3.
I remember having a grudging respect for the movie, but feeling emotionally wiped after seeing it the first time. So I certainly wouldn't have minded a retrenching of the story arc with this movie.

From a variety of Ridley interviews from the start of Prometheus announcement onwards, it’s clear that he (no doubt with the help of Damon Lindelof) had done a fair bit of revisionism and now considered Alien and Blade Runner universes one and the same.
From that point onwards anything made from either franchise would need to be based on that premise. You can see how Prometheus, Covenant, BR 2049 and all the subsequent potential sequels/prequels/spin-offs Scott has discussed since come from that specific Ridley concept. Hence no room for Blomkamp’s particular take on the story and characters.
Much as I love Ridley’s early films, I do think what he’s doing with this IP is cynical, possibly egocentric, definitely stubborn, and probably financially motivated - the cinematic equivalent of “no one but me can play with my toys in my sandbox, unless you play my game.”
The man’s well into his 80s now - there’s no way we’re getting another “endorsed” film from either franchise in his lifetime. Luckily, Blomkamp is only early 40s, so we might yet see his version, albeit with some Ripley digital de-aging. Depends if Scott’s kids have a say in it, as Ridley loves a nice bit of nepotism.
It's such a colossal failure that we got the abysmal Prometheus movies instead of a sequel to Aliens. Damn you Ridley Scott, you should have let Blomkamp to take a shot at the franchise after all the garbage we've gotten since Aliens.
That was a studio decision you want to be mad at somebody be mad at the studio the studio has done nothing with the francise since 3 when they stopped allow directors film and cut the movie

I would like to know the arc that Ripley goes through and what the themes are, but the advancement of how the aliens reproduce and the combination of tech and alien sound terrific.
To build off your idea that the drones wouldn't be able to tell the difference, maybe the xenomorph biomech suit was a way for the workers/scientists to work within an artificial hive to harvest that weird substance and whatever else they needed. This would beg the question of why the Queen wouldn't kill them so maybe the Queen was kept in a segmented area deeper in the hive.
that's kinda the same idea as in the DH comic aliens stronghold where the scientist created a android xenomorph named jerry to go into the hive to get stuff and interact with the xenos etc., won't ruin the story

Neil Blomkamp has been screwed over, this could’ve been his star wars or lord of the rings, a true sci-fi EPIC. Scott’s origin story is so ridiculous and unnecessary, such a waste.
The studio would just have interfered with it just like they have for every alien film since alien 3 I would have seen it just like every movie since 3 in the theaters just wouldn’t be over hyped
Actually, Scott’s Prometheus wasnt “ridiculous and unnecessary.” It was a great prequel and many people, including myself, enjoyed it.
But Blomkamp did get screwed over, which was *really* “unnecessary.”

@@lustwaffe9000 I didn’t phrase correctly, the origin of the Alien in Alien Covenant is what I hate, I love the ancient alien idea of Prometheus and wish he kept up with that. And I don’t think it’s that far of a stretch Alien is the number one movie that inspired Blomkamp he’d do better than the majority of directors on it. Especially do better than whatever tf Scott did with covenant.
I think in the right director's hands, this looks like it would be a worthy follow up to Aliens. I think Alien-->Aliens is one of the best movie and sequels ever, so I would not really expect it to match on that level, but this could have been strong.
I also love the thought of Alien 3 and Resurrection being nothing more than Cryo-fever dreams. As a huge Alien fan, Ireally don't like them at all.

With the release of cold forge and Into Charybdis, I definitely think they should come back to Red harvest. It would be a great opportunity to introduce Plagiarus praepotens into the films.

This is the type of content that brought me to your channel. I wish this had been made, as it has the old style Alien feel. I wonder if Weaver would have gone for it, her like me, are not getting any younger!
Supposedly Sigourney Weaver was completely onboard for it & no doubt Michael Biehn would've been too.
Was not for this at first because it reconed Alien 3 which I enjoy very much. But given everything we see and have read I would have wanted to see this it would have been a blast. Truly a same for fans of the franchise.
They should seriously consider this for the plot of the next ALIEN series if series 1 is successful. And attach Bloomkamp to the project, it's guaranteed to bring in Sigourney and Michael.

Blue Harvest was a fake working title used to hide the 1982 production of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, the third installment of the Star Wars film series. The supposed film was alleged to be an upcoming horror film with the tag line "Horror Beyond Imagination".
The title is a parody of Red Harvest, a novel by Dashiell Hammett, whose plot has been used for several movies including Yojimbo, A Fistful of Dollars, and Last Man Standing.
I play Alien rpg from free league. Love this rpg for it's play, and horror. It span's all comics, movies, novels. The art work in all the books, expansion are the same as you just showed. I'm goin to review this episode so I can run this concept for my players. Thanks again Mr. H.
I didn't know that ALIEN 5 would erase 3 and 4 witch is good to me and after watching thia video it sounded great. And they were making it after the ALIEN prequels release the tech they would have.

Resurrection was nonsense but I actually really like Alien 3. He had a great cast and Fury 161 was such a depressing and claustrophobic place. Perfect setting for an Alien film.

Well Prometheus wasn’t orginally gonna be a prequel the studio turned it into a prequel than for covenant they listen to the fans and it bombed so as a fan base we need to get on the same page about what we want

Sush a shame this hasn't happened. Blomkamp is amazing his films are so realistic. This would of been raw realistic industrial no holds barred awesomeness. Blomkamp is the only guy that can make this film look and feel likevthe first 2 movies in my opinion...and lets be honest its the feel of the first 2 movies that we've all been looking to experience ever since they released. The realism and industrial feel and the effects in district 9 and chappie etc would be perfect for an alien film.
My thoughts r as follows.
Neil is brilliant.
All he needs is the financial backing and he cud go down as one of if not the greatest sci-fi visionaries of all time.
As cool as this looked he doesn't need it.

Egos in Hollyweird are why Blomkamp will be lucky if he gets a chance to enter a feature length "Capture Fluke" at the Sundance Film Fest. If Directors like R. Scott have anything to say about Blomkamp then he won't make one red cent in Highlywild. He makes the rest look like slackers, and most of them are pretty decent to damn good, and Blomkamp still blows them away. In that So Cal-ish industry, talent and youth get squashed with haste.
Blomkamp problem is he is a good indie director with small budget films his big budget films flop his movies just don’t make bank

After he did a ham-handed, grotesque gloss over of the whole Engineer question and denied audiences the ability to find out more about them, their society, why they jump-started life on numerous planets (including Earth) then sought to destroy what they'd created, I wrote off anything else Scott might do in the Alien universe and refuse to watch it.

Yes the man is a good visualist but even a good director can’t fix a bad script lindeoff is a horrible story and dialogue writer but part of the blame is is on Scott and the rest on the studio for greenlighting that script who ever greenlit covenant and Prometheus should never be aloud to make movies again

Seems like there is more substance here. I imagine it would have been great to see. More thought out then what 99% of films are today (a movie for money's sake, over wanting to tell a story). I really enjoyed the return to this format of video as well, thanks MrH.

Some of the art work looks good and some of it I have problems like this just would make this movie look like shit now if another studio got the rights I’d be more hyped but it’s fox so I don’t know if I’d like this movie or not but I’d definitely give it a chance
I would trade both the Prometheus movies and Alien 3 for just a trailer of what this film could have been.
To be honest, after seeing these artworks and the story they imply, im happy that this project did not came to be. Its seems the story is not that much different from the abysmal Alien 4 and its own far-fetched plot. As to James Cameron´s comment..., he also considered Terminator Dark Fate´s story to be "brilliant" and gave it his blessing........ And that movie may not be as abysmal as Terminator 3 or Genysis.....but i think its clear that Cameron was more flattering than being truly objective there aswell.

This should have got made, also Sigourney weaver was said to be happy at blomkamps script and was down for his movie but unfortunately never happened
I really hope they make this movie, I really do. I also hope that Michael Bhein finally gets the lead role his talent deserves. How on earth this guy didn't become a true A-lister is beyond me.
This is similar to william gibsons alien 3 script,alien treated as a virus(ha),a bit predictable.It is really difficult to take the Alien franchise beyond the first two films.
Yeah, feels like Blomkamp just took Gibson script and made a few changes to have Ripley in the main spotlight. People don’t seem to get that making this movie just for the sake of bringing back classic characters wouldn’t make it a good film. There’s almost no horror implications coming off of this story, and none that we haven’t seen before at any platform, from games to comics. What made the first 3 Alien movies a big deal is that each one introduced a new concept, people didn’t know what the Alien was in the first, people didn’t know how the Alien was born in the second and people didn’t know why the Alien was so dangerous in the third. This doesn’t seem to have anything to bring to the table except the obvious “why evil corporations shouldn’t get what they want”.

I’d rather see this as a cgi movie as to me if they did this movie now it wouldn’t make sense as to me the aliens would just move to fast for them as they are old but if they do cgi they could set it 20 after aliens and it make sense

The Xenosuit makes sense as that was what the "Company" wanted the aliens for to build weapons.
It's an interesting way of using xenos as weapons as opposed to the traditional weapons on the loose idea. And much cooler than the alien/human hybrid thing from resurrection.
If THAT’S what they wanted ALL this time, then they must be the dumbest people in the universe. Yes, even dumber than the giant bald idiots from Prometheus.

Prometheus wasn't anywhere near disaster, let's not go to extremes. Alien: Covenant on the other hand was a huge waste of potential.
I read somewhere long ago that a film was being considered where humans and Predators teamed up and invaded the Alien home world. That I should love to see.
So this was scrapped for Prometheus and Covenant? Well done Fox!! Another stellar cinematic decision by the studio which brought us the X-Men and the Alien vs Predator franchises. Good show!!!
Well Prometheus made the most money out of the series but it also is the highest budget too if covenant would have made money instead of breaking even iam sure this movie would have came out

I mean some of it is real good and some of it not so much but till a script is leaked I don’t know if I want this movie or not don’t get me wrong I’d love to see hicks in another movie but some of the pictures looks like somethings from unused alien 3 scripts
My guess would be that the juggernaut shown in the art is the same one from Acheron, but partially damaged/melted by the blast from the atmospheric processor in the second film, before being retrieved by YW.

Blomkamp's OatsStudios looked like they were certainly on the right track refining the CGI/VFX for an amazing Alien movie. So disappointing we'll probably never see it!
It's one of those, it sounds amazing on paper, I would loved to see it at least. The heavy lean into Bio-Horror is true to the series origins.

I doubt that the production name of 'Red Harvest' was related to the movie's plot itself. It's most likely a fun play on the production title of Return of the Jedi, which was 'Blue Harvest'.
This is the Alien3 we all DESERVED.

Knowing this I now would've rather had this than Covenant. This is new, it's moving forward, it's arguably concluding Ripley's story in a more positive way than Alien 3 did. Covenant was a prequel that has as much meaning as the Star Wars prequels. Connecting too many things, shrinking the world, and just seems to forget or retcon things in the process.
Will watch this tomoz but already know this a corker for Mr H
I think some of these idea were in William Gibson's original script for Alien 3, like the multiple aliens coming from a single host.

The more that I keep hearing about neill blomkamp alien 5 makes me a bit disappointed . And this is coming from someone that love Prometheus and alien covenant . But I wood have love to have seen what blomkamp was going bring to his alien movie

I don’t hate it but if they would have released the assembly cut instead I’d like it better but I hated it when I saw it in theaters because it wasn’t aliens and I was 5 when I saw 3 in theaters 29 years ago and hicks dying in the opening pissed me off now I agree with it now I hate resurrection with a passion whedon adding comedy to an alien movie

If there's ever a time a movie studio please fans by making a movie it needs to be this one. The ideas still seem better than what we got.
Sounds like the Alien franchise version of Jurassic World in which Jurassic Park successfully opened to the public as a theme park as Jurassic World and in this case the Weyland-Yutani corporation got their hands on the xenomorphs and partially weaponized them.
Given his track record I don't think this would of been a good film. I could be wrong buy I'd of loved it for the progression of the lore.

With, animated shows like the resident evil or even love death and robots. I really wish they would explore that rout to bring something so fantastic as this story! Such a shame that it's going to the bin and never see the light of day.

I would say Blomkamp would've stayed true to GIGER whilst also mixing it with his own sci fi flavor of Elysium and District 9

Every piece of the alien franchise where Scott is not in charge becomes this one up sci-fi action thriller where the director tries to alien harder and explode more or get more monsters or more people or just be bigger and bigger. The whole planet!!! Let’s add Terminators!!! 200 types of aliens and they fight each other!!!
Heart breaking. Ridley didn't even want to make a Alien. He wanted androids. He should have let Blomkamp do this.
Mate that was a studio decision blomkamp hasn’t had much luck with major studio as what happened with this movie and his robocop

Ironically, this would have been more original than his other films with the exception of District 9.
