Honestly I’d love to see Sohla have a show similar to her cross tasting that she talks about here, basically “reviewing” recipes either from BA or online, and improving them in her surgical, super precise way. She’s definitely become one of my favorite personalities in the kitchen

Also Adam and Molly have worked together before BA so that may be another reason why he directs the question at her and not anyone else.

Andy’s reaction to Adam’s bullheaded question asking Brad what the best advice he gave to Gabby was... felt like I was looking in the mirror. Brad’s “you should ask her” was way classier than I would have been.
Saw this moments before I got to that part of the video, and OOF. Like in it they add context that Brad was part of Gabby's hiring process, but that was a rough question and you could see Chris's face just bug out. He knew that was a rough question.

Of course I love Brad but I really do admire how Gaby can just say "I wasn't finished talking" when he interrupts her. I know this isn't a huge deal but I think a lot of women can relate to the feeling of being looked over in favor of male coworkers' opinions and she is just such a badass for calling him out.

feckless clod I don’t necessarily think that they meant to sound dismissive, but were just pointing out the fact that Brad and Gaby are friends and that may be a reason that she feels comfortable calling him out. If anything, I feel like this is telling of the difficulty for women (and especially bipoc women) to be able to have a voice in white patriarchies where they are made to feel like strangers or guests. It’s also notable, i think, that even after she commented on his interruption, he did not stop talking and she was never able to finish her thought.

There's a video somewhere where he said he went to culinary school so he could do things other than cook, it was profound. He knew it would unlock doors for him and it did.

I love her. I think she's the secret weapon of the BA team. And she seems to have a calm energy that I find very appealing.

its so interesting how Claire seems very confident and talkative in bon Appetit videos but here you can tell that she's actually rather quiet :)
Agreed, but I think thats mostly because she's more of an academic than the others.
She grew up pretty sheltered and book focused and then went into Harvard, trained overseas. Shes fond of crafts and puzzles less so public speaking and theatrics.
This part is just me speculating but id wager thats probably why she likes hanging around brad because hes a sort of seat of the pants guy with this loud voice and wild personality.
Could just be a matter of wanting to let the others have their time in the spotlight.
It's pure speculation as far she goes, but introverts tend to temper their expressions with a heavy dose of editing, which slows down their rate of articulation, ie. paralysis by analysis. She's certainly not inarticulate, but she measures her words carefully. If she were a style of music, she'd be something formal like classical, maybe hymnals.
I don't see her as confident at all, I think she is what you would call a nerd.. She's also always seeking praise in everything she does, and that's not a sign of confidence

I've seen comments from Indians that Priya isn't really an Indian cook because she only cooks home cooking from her region. Well, Priya also doesn't claim to be anything other than who she is. We have plenty of great pan-Indian chefs out there. I love that she shows us what is made in her Indian-American home.

Kristin Wright it’s not really that she cooks home cooking from her region. It just doesn’t make sense that she gets to showcase below average recipes peppered with some family story along side other great chefs. Her Indian recipes are neither authentic nor experimental.
Kristin Wright but she seems sweet and honest and owned up on being a learning chef who makes mistakes.
I’ll tell you what, I love Priya. I’m from Delhi in fact, where you arguably get the best Indian(well, north at least) food. I really do like most of her recipes, Dahi toast and Saag feta were quite great actually. I just think the more traditional she goes, some times, the more she alienates the Indian audience because we all have in some way tweaked recipes according to our palettes, but she should never stop because she’s got a great presence and personality.
Whenever Gaby says "I love you, but...", you know someone's gonna need a hell lot of Burnol.

The interview was overall kinda shotty. He didn't let people finish their answers, mispronounced names, and culdnt bounce off of vague and short answers from them. They were better without him.

Sohla spoke up about the issue. Remember Hawa? She never got in touch with BA again because she is being underpaid. That's the gist of it. I don't think he has impeccable fashion sense. His dressing is more of what someone working in an office would wear. Blue button down shirts, neutral colours, etc. It's his professionalism shining through rather than his sense of dressing
I like his style. It is nice and clean cut... timeless really
You can see they all genuinely like and have such mutual respect for each other. It's incredibly heartwarming. They are all lovely people. I'd say it's a wonderful environment to work in.
