Hey...a q...with your 2203 (the first batch before you switched them to 2204s), when I crash, it throws the prop (gemfan 5125) and, after enough of them), starts to strip the t-mount prop screw holes at the top. If I wanted to replace the bell, will a single bell work with either version of this motor? Thx...good shit man...
It should actually fit and I was also worried about the durability of T mount. It's not so great. The 2204 bell might have a little play but has more magnet too
Once again Thank You for all your hard work and time spent testing/developing these great new products! patiently waiting for the propellers, is there a rough timeline estimate on when they might be released? the 5.25" and the 7"
It's a hero 8 with defaults. Probably what you're noticing is that I set my shutter to stay under 1/120 and use a dark ND filter. This is what gives it the super smooth effect. We sell the ND filter in the store. Otherwise it's full gopro defaults
I ordered the Imperials and put them on a Glide, then I won a frame on someone's livestream and had to come back for another set 😂 buying more motors before the first set has even flown, I have problems.
They look fantastic motors... Can't believe the weight for such a larger stator. 🤯 I've still to test out the ones you sent me. Cheers for sending them 🍻👍 I'm waiting on some good weather but I'm thinking they're not going to give me enough control. My 360 quad with 4s 3000mah Li-ion is heavy! 🙈😬 I might build something else to use them on... Was looking at building a mini x8 for carrying a full GoPro and then I saw you'd done it! Maybe an inav mini x8 would be a good platform for cinematic work.
Na. It's not all but the motors do have some annoying issue we're working on a solution for. The manufacturers annoyingly cut some corners on the magnets it seems so we're making new bells and will be sending everyone new bells. We've taken the stock off the store for now as well until we get the new bells.
I would say a 25 amp or 30 amp ESC is going to be enough. There are many ESC companies that make escs that claim 60 amps but in reality they struggle with 15 amps so overall, escality matters more than any of the numbers on it just like battery C rating
Hey Bob, forget about Stormtroopers. Say clone trooper... They were much better. 😬 But what a motor! Really beautiful! 😮 And seem to fly amazingly! Stay safe there! 🖖😊

🤯 awesome looking motors and I really wanna know the size but won’t ask bc of cloners lol. Just gonna have to order a set and find out when I rebuild one of my freestyle rigs and swap components to a glide frame😎 Would these be good on a race setup?
They are extremely powerful but I'd caution that they're wider than 22 width so they do get hit more often by gates. It's something we found out years ago and went back to 2207 from 2306
@@Kabab Lol true and knowing you it’s an odd width such as a 23.5 or 24.5 or somewhere inbetween there and same with height. @@Kabab like you I try not to destroy my quads bc I don’t have time for repairs, just lazy really lol. But after 2-3 years of racing I can honestly say I’ve only destroyed 2 quads and of course esc’s here and there. I’ve had a couple motors get completely ripped of the arms and wires ripped out the esc only to still work perfectly. I still have one of those motors on one of my arc ones that I use for practice and it runs smoother than a couple others on the same quad lol. Also kinda why I fell in love with the Xilo 2207 1750kv motors from getfpv. Things have been tanks for me on a race track. Any flight footage with a ~580g rig? Im wondering if I'd need a 50% throttle limit LOL! I think a big part of the lack of balloning is the weight of that rig and your comfort with the throttle response. I dropped 30g from my rig and had to adjust my throttle limit and my brain/thumbs a bit.
With this motor, you can control the power really well so even with low weight, ballooning isn't so hard to avoid. That's the magic of this motor. You would need to be well under 580 g for it to start becoming an issue
@@Kabab Sweet ordered, one of my stouts is noisy and another has stripped screw holes anyways. My rig is ~550g and worst case I get bigger packs. Its weird how 580g is so perfect.
@@pkvillager 580g is the most perfect general gopro 5" weight. It's the magical target weight but nearly impossible to hit today with a hero and all the gizmos
I'm a big fan of your work experimenting in the real world, both with motors and your frame designs. I'm curious when you compared the performance of these Imperials to say a 2207 or 2306 (or say 2208 for comparable volume), was that with a custom tune & throttle curve for each, or using defaults? I'm wondering how close to that same level of throttle/altitude control one could get with a throttle curve that gives more resolution at the lower end? I imagine you probably asked yourself that same question at some point, and would be curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Software curves cannot replicate the control feel of hardware designed to mechanically work differently. Software might be able to sort of mimic the effect but will not give the control needed to feel the same. It's not a huge difference but it also is when you're flying these things subconsciously rather than thinking about what you're doing.
i'm quite sure the intro footage is reelsteady'd. 3:4 video ratio later in the video kinda confirms it. also the perspective warp you get from stabilizing
i cannot WAIT to buy these motors to mod what used to be a roma f5. gonna take the fc and esc and pin that crap on a moongoat frame and soft mount the motors. should be juicy. I love the minimalistic white its so sexy and it flies just as good as it looks. that particular buzz from the motor says a lot. did you try it on 4s?
I'm really hurt you don't have a kv for 4s. Sure could run a lower kv but would rather find a different motor with the kv I want. The white looks amazing as well.
We tested it in a couple of different kv on 4s and it just wasn't as good as 5s or 6s. The wasp from rcinpower is a better 4s motor. if I made a 4s motor it would either be the wasp or the smoox 2306.5
okay so im not new to this hobby but i wanna build my own 5 inch after selling all my gear cause i wanted to switch to digital or not fly at all but since digital was really expensive to me that time i didnt buy any digital bnf and i wasnt even thinking about building one myself cause i dont even know how and what i need... and i still dont really know what exactly i need or what works together so here is what i came up with: apex 5 inch frame (version to fit the dji unit) these beautiful motors (1870kv) dji air unit with caddx iFlight SucceX-D Mini F7 TwinG stack or the MAMBA Stack DJI F722 MK2 (dont know which one is better) tbs crossfire receiver is this all i need? using a tango 2 and obviously the dji goggles...
Here's my top recommendations: Go ght dji FPV route. The goggles and vista only. DJI FPV controller is optional but I like that too because it's all one system but the controller is really overpriced for what it does. Next, the new batch of 25mm motors we have arriving on Tuesday are absolutely beautiful and awesome. Watch for them. Pair that with the Sonicare frame (we'll have that in stock tomorrow), the 51433 prop and a 1050-1250mah 6S pack for a really stellar quad.
@@franzferdinand1 that entirely depends on how you fly it. 3min is typically what I get but I'm going all out. If you take it a little easier, 5min is doable. It'll hover for like 8min or more. I don't really hover ever. If you're new, flight time usually isn't a big concern. Play some sims for a week or so and then build a quad. 👍

Dude I can’t wait to try out the 23mm 1850 I’ve motors. They look dope!!
Should be coming very soon. Motors start arriving on Tuesday
The 2204 bell might have a little play but has more magnet too
Your videos are always the best, your flying is sooo good
When and where can I buy this in the EU?
Hold off for now. We're working on some improvements with the motor. It will re-release in an unfortunate 6wks
That motor just looks clean and crisp even sitting there.
If I'm gonna use these for racing should I just get the cheaper ones?
Yeah
@@Kabab still gonna get a set of the white ones for my glide though for sure
Do you have cheap but good motors for 5in?
The RCN power bison is the very best budget motor out there in my opinion. otherwise, we have this motor in the regular version for $20 each
Desync, the motor
Ramp up power between 80-100 with motor timing of 10 has so far fixed any issue anyone is having
Once again Thank You for all your hard work and time spent testing/developing these great new products! patiently waiting for the propellers, is there a rough timeline estimate on when they might be released? the 5.25" and the 7"
your flight footage looks so pretty! What cam and settings are you using there??
It's a hero 8 with defaults. Probably what you're noticing is that I set my shutter to stay under 1/120 and use a dark ND filter. This is what gives it the super smooth effect. We sell the ND filter in the store. Otherwise it's full gopro defaults
What about bell separation? is this an issue?
The new batch coming is unibell and has had it's durability improved a lot. It's also absolutely beautiful. It's arriving on Tuesday
I ordered the Imperials and put them on a Glide, then I won a frame on someone's livestream and had to come back for another set 😂 buying more motors before the first set has even flown, I have problems.
Most beautiful motors I've seen... inside n out
They look fantastic motors... Can't believe the weight for such a larger stator. 🤯
I've still to test out the ones you sent me. Cheers for sending them 🍻👍 I'm waiting on some good weather but I'm thinking they're not going to give me enough control. My 360 quad with 4s 3000mah Li-ion is heavy! 🙈😬
I might build something else to use them on... Was looking at building a mini x8 for carrying a full GoPro and then I saw you'd done it! Maybe an inav mini x8 would be a good platform for cinematic work.
What’s the deal with people talking about the desyncs? Is this something that affects all ESC?
Na. It's not all but the motors do have some annoying issue we're working on a solution for. The manufacturers annoyingly cut some corners on the magnets it seems so we're making new bells and will be sending everyone new bells. We've taken the stock off the store for now as well until we get the new bells.
@@Kabab Did the manufacturer manage to give you a date for the bells ? :)
what about Amp max they will drain ? A 50A esc is enough ?
I would say a 25 amp or 30 amp ESC is going to be enough. There are many ESC companies that make escs that claim 60 amps but in reality they struggle with 15 amps so overall, escality matters more than any of the numbers on it just like battery C rating
@@Kabab ok thanks for the response ! Do you think you will release a datasheet or something like this ? Maybe current draw depending on props ?
Hey Bob, forget about Stormtroopers. Say clone trooper... They were much better. 😬
But what a motor! Really beautiful! 😮
And seem to fly amazingly!
Stay safe there! 🖖😊
Hey Bob I’m curious...just for science what size are the motors?
Larger than 2306 😅
Hey Kabab! Ordered your BetaFPV layout by Kabab 2.1v F4 toothpick FC from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I‘m really excited to get it & see if it lasts, I fly like Maverick (Top_Gun).
Got a job for me in FPV drones? I taught myself to fly & need to evolve, develop myself further.
Great review, have fun, happy fly’n & take care 🤓😉😘
what radio do you use the most??
Since I got the dji stuff, I use that always unless I'm flying something small. Then I use the x9lite
@@Kabab love you bro ! You help the community so much! Don’t you think the range is a bit weak on it?
Kick ass flying bud, I find myself pulling out of a dive very often lol, thanks for sharing 👋
🤯 awesome looking motors and I really wanna know the size but won’t ask bc of cloners lol. Just gonna have to order a set and find out when I rebuild one of my freestyle rigs and swap components to a glide frame😎
Would these be good on a race setup?
They are extremely powerful but I'd caution that they're wider than 22 width so they do get hit more often by gates. It's something we found out years ago and went back to 2207 from 2306
@@Kabab Lol true and knowing you it’s an odd width such as a 23.5 or 24.5 or somewhere inbetween there and same with height. Wouldn’t be surprised if the . was like a .03 or .07 something odd like that. But yea man I love what I see and definitely want to try a set soon. Need to hurry and order my 1303’s too.
I love hyperlites but the xilo’s have outlasted every hyperlite ive raced with. Still working on destroying a set of hyperlite e series 2207.5 1922’s and so far they are holding. But haven’t flown much the last 10 months but have been putting in more packs since November.
Damn you! I just came to terms with the cost of the 30mm motors. Now these motors? Fine....take my money ;D
Have you thought about combining these with a quality Esc & prop manufacturer & selling this motor in a kit form . With 4 motors , esc’s & 2 sets of props ...?
I am working on it but I am also extremely particular about my components and they must live up to a very high standard. the flight controller is almost done being made and the new am-32 escs are almost ready as well but the escs aren't coming from me right now. I am going to give it a generation or two for refinements before making one myself
@@Kabab I think we’re all grateful for what you’ve done for the hobby over the years . We all wish you the very best . Both in this endeavor and your Dentistry business . We will Patiently wait for Your New Quality components to be released . Thanks for your response & look forward to your future video’s ..
@@Kabab Thankfully I am gopro and gizmo free. DJI is good enough for me and my rare uploads.
Is one manufacturer brother hobby and the other TBS?
the other one isn't TBS. It's one that doesn't often make motors for other people. They choose not to be known.
@@Kabab ooh mysterious!!
Great video. Very efficient, just ordered mine!
Take my money oh wait I already gave it LOL Thanks for all your hard work for this hobby 😀
Great job Bob 👍🤘👊 interested in trying these out 🤔
In the clip at 3:00, they sound very different than other motors. More whining/ zipping and less of a woosh. Maybe its just the audio filtering.
That's probably more so the gopro hero 8 that has a shitty mic on it. The session 5 has a fantastic mic.
@@Kabab wait, the session has a _better_ mic? Wth gopro?
Great to hear your making progress... thinking it's time to try a new build :)
Holy shit, how smooth was the flying in that intro!!!?! Great stuff Bob, looking forward to checking out the motors!
i'm quite sure the intro footage is reelsteady'd. 3:4 video ratio later in the video kinda confirms it. also the perspective warp you get from stabilizing
Great flight montage at the beginning! The results are clear to see~~
i cannot WAIT to buy these motors to mod what used to be a roma f5. gonna take the fc and esc and pin that crap on a moongoat frame and soft mount the motors. should be juicy. I love the minimalistic white its so sexy and it flies just as good as it looks. that particular buzz from the motor says a lot. did you try it on 4s?
Please standby. The next batch will be much cleaner looking and work well
@@Kabab How can you improve on perfection?
@@JamesManimal couple little annoyances on this motor. Mostly cosmetics.
I'm really hurt you don't have a kv for 4s. Sure could run a lower kv but would rather find a different motor with the kv I want. The white looks amazing as well.
We tested it in a couple of different kv on 4s and it just wasn't as good as 5s or 6s. The wasp from rcinpower is a better 4s motor. if I made a 4s motor it would either be the wasp or the smoox 2306.5
dude... ok now im gonna watch the rest.
so next time its metric motor? :)
Whats about a 4S Version of this Motor? Future?
We tested it in a couple of different kv on 4s and it just wasn't as good as 5s or 6s. The wasp from rcinpower is a better 4s motor.
did you color grade the edit? Colors look amazing!!!
I just adjust the shadow/highlight. It's default gopro colors.
@@Kabab crazy looks so pretty!
okay so im not new to this hobby but i wanna build my own 5 inch after selling all my gear cause i wanted to switch to digital or not fly at all but since digital was really expensive to me that time i didnt buy any digital bnf and i wasnt even thinking about building one myself cause i dont even know how and what i need... and i still dont really know what exactly i need or what works together
so here is what i came up with:
apex 5 inch frame (version to fit the dji unit)
these beautiful motors (1870kv)
dji air unit with caddx
iFlight SucceX-D Mini F7 TwinG stack or the
MAMBA Stack DJI F722 MK2 (dont know which one is better)
tbs crossfire receiver
is this all i need?
using a tango 2 and obviously the dji goggles...
Here's my top recommendations:
Go ght dji FPV route.
@@Kabab what would you say is the flight time for such a setup
@@franzferdinand1 that entirely depends on how you fly it. 3min is typically what I get but I'm going all out. If you take it a little easier, 5min is doable. It'll hover for like 8min or more. I don't really hover ever.
If you're new, flight time usually isn't a big concern. Play some sims for a week or so and then build a quad. 👍
You got me with the "bait".
Awesome name "imperial motor" ! By the way, you mentioned that you tested several motors, did you look (or reviewed) the ethix stout ? I wondering what's your opinion about it and how does it compares with the imperial motor
They're fine motors. They're 2306 so they perform similar to other 2306 motors.
Could you make a fpv cycle floss and a brushless toothbrush
One day
These wouldn't be good for a long range 4s?
The 2200 on 4S is actually pretty okay it's just not super powerful. The preferred long-range battery for many is 5S. We actually have a 5S 1550 milliamp battery in the store now as well
Can you make a motor with the popo pro system
I'm not sure how popular the poop system got. Unfortunately it's not infalabe
