The DZo's are fantastic. I used the 35mm on my Sigma FP to shoot a horror film last December and it looked beautiful. I was also able to use the lens as both a 35mm and 55mm, due to the FP having a full frame and super 35 mode. So I managed to get tow lenses out of one.

Very cool! I like the DZO a lot , but I ended up buying Meike. The T 2.1 was probably the main reason vs. the DZO 2.8. I’m actually going to do a video about it, but both are awesome affordable cine primes.

I can really recommend the prime lenses, as they are a lot smaller then the zoomlens and they have the same front diameter across all of them, meaning you can use 1 good screw on variable ND filter instead of a mattebox. I am filming a documentary that way this weekend from a compact handheld set that I can also quickly mount on a tripod if needed.

Thanks, Blake. That was awesome! All the best with the movie. I would definitely go with cinema lenses, not the Sigma for this specific kind of job, and there are many good options out there without breaking the bank, oh and yes, prime lenses! Love the RED Komodo. I don’t have one yet, but bucket 🪣 list! Lol. Cheers

Definitely lots of lens options to consider. Maybe too many. :) Thanks for watching!

I’m not used to seeing you NOT using a mobile phone. 😅 What genre is the movie?

Never mind I just went to the site and saw it. Is it based off your short mobile film?

Yeah, actually it is. I did that original as just more or less a test with the iPhone 6S (yikes) and the first generation of Filmic Pro log, and I always thought it would make a cool feature film… So now I’m making it. :)
I think I am going to have a couple of phone shots in this movie, even though I’m shooting on a RED. Considering some macro, and then I have one underwater shot that I think would look great using the 14 Pro Max and shooting 10-bit ProRes.
