Some channels have high production value, some have tons of content.
But this has the best... the joy of playing. I freaking love it.

Dread Helm is a common magic item, most common magic items don't have mechanical benefits, but can be used creatively with a DM who rewards such things. Cloak of Billowing is another example, but there's tons of common magic items that are very thematic but offer no direct mechanical benefit, and only a few that do - outside of consumables. The unbreakable arrow is one of my favorite common items to throw at a player to see what sorts of creative uses they come up for it. It's almost never using it as an arrow. 😆

Sorry. I’m old. It’s a reference to old Bugs Bunny doing some Wagner.

Haha nice. I grew up with Looney Tunes, but I didn't know that reference. I look forward to showing it to my kids

Congratulations on having the players PCs survive the dungeon.🎉
From the sound of it your wife is getting interested in the game and maybe joining in??
As for the Helmet... That's all it does makes the user's eyes glow Red. You could give the user advantage on intimation skill check.
As for giving a +2 weapon, which is a Rare magic item, with vicious weapon on it, also Rare magic item, making that weapon a Very Rare weapon which is ment for characters of 11levl + , pg135 of the DMG, to 3 or 4 level characters is a wee bit OP.

Yeah I done overdid it. But my heart feels so happy about it. I'll need to temper it in the future though. I figured it'd be ok on that one since it's a 1d6 damage weapon so even if it maxes it's not too crazy and still does less damage than his spells can.

Overdo it, yes! If a 14th level someone gets a +2 handaxe, it goes on the pile. For this character though, this axe will be legendary. He'll probably name it at some point, maybe even take a different feat at some point.
I love giving one or two powerful magic items early. So much fun!

Agreed! A bit overpowered, but it's still a great bit of treasure since it is rarer item, I would give it a name, to make it more unique. I think that would make it even cooler/better!

I just started my two boys in their first game of D&D as well! As a veteran DM, I've been continually impressed by your DMing in these videos.
As a new DM, you somehow immediately understood that the emotional investment of the players (gross, scary, cool, any feeling really) is what drives their love of the adventure. I sincerely hope that you get to play the greatest game with your son for many, many years to come!
Shout out to your friend who is playing too!
