Elaine Thompson-Herah is the world record holder for the womens 100m. Flo Jo's 10.49 is disputable owing to an investigation done by world athletics that found at the USA olympics trials in 1988. The windspeed meter was defective as tailwind speed readings around the field before and after the race were in excess of 4 to 7 meters per second. She then ran 10.61 in the final of the same trials which had a legal tailwind of below 2 meters per second. They know her time is illegal but they don't want to change it.

She needs to follow in the steps on Simone Biles and get her mental health checked because it's quite obvious that she's being going through a lot in the past few months. I hope she takes this for what it is, humbles herself, and makes her mental health a priority if she wants to make it in the sport. She still got a lot to give, she's young most of these other athletes are about a decade older. I hope she knows it's okay not to be okay and she allows this lesson to make her stronger. This is the first correct description of this race I've seen. ETH was on 🔥. She will break the WR if she continues to run like this. Her current form coupled with her new mental toughness are a hard combination to beat. Hoping that she does it. Also hoping that SAFP can rediscover her early season form and give ETH some real competition. I was hoping that all 3 Jamaicans would have PB'd in this race.

No, Sha-Carri had a good start, watch again. Sha- Carri was the meat between the two slices of bread and got eaten last because she became a nervous wreck and freak out but hiding it behind her getto speach

Flo Jo had the most efficient mechanics of any female sprinter in history. It is interesting to see that as Elaine Thompson lowers her times, she is also showing remarkable economy of movement, much like Flo Jo.

That 10.54 should clearly be the World Record. Flo Jo's 10.49 was obviously wind aided, heavily wind aided. With a 2.0 wind, Elaine would've ran sub 10.49 today.

In hindsight sure, but that's a dangerous precedent, to start reviewing all races and deciding which to change.

Elaine is a BEAST!! But in sports we don't play the would've should've could've foolishness. Flo's time is her time. Big ups to Elaine for being the best of now.

I witnessed Flo Jo's race in person and was there for the entire trials - still a highlight of my life! The wind was all over the place - at some times during the day it was really windy, other times not so much. This shows in the variance from round to round in all events - both men and women. The wind for Flo Jo's record was much calmer than in the earlier rounds. Carl Lewis ran a 9.78 that same day and it was wind-aided at over 5m/s. Other mens rounds were legal. That's why we measure the wind. Flo Jo's 100 and 200 were special that day - she beat the field by huge margins. There is no reason to doubt the wind meter or the clock.

Ok, I was talking mad trash about all of those people that said we would see a 10.5, and that we'd see a 10.71-ish, but you don't need to tell me to shut up.
Elaine is the greatest female short sprinter in the 21st century, don't even argue.
