Peter Farquhar was my A-level English teacher at Mill Hill school. He was the greatest teacher I ever had, and an unbelievably kind and generous man. I miss him profoundly. I am so angry and heartbroken by this.
Sorry to hear. That’s so sad. This was extremely grim. The stuff of nightmares. Hope that guy rots in jail.

I went to Stowe and left in 1999. I never really got to know Mr Farquhar or have the pleasure to be thaught by this gentleman but i knew alot of people who did and they truely loved and respected him as a human and as a teacher. They have said he was the best English teacher they ever had...i truelly missed out on being educated by him. What a intelligent man who didn't deserve what happened to him. This man during his teaching career has helped thousands of pupils and many of them have gone on to do what they love in relation to English. Thankyou Sir. RIP Mr Farquhar

Textbook psychopath. If you want to read more about the case, the criminologist Professor David Wilson wrote a detailed book about it called "A plot to kill". He felt Ben Field was born a psychopath, but was shaped by the underlying avarice and status seeking of middle England, which is wrapped up in a blanket of tweeness. He also talks about how Field may have been consciously mimicking some of the books he had studied, such as The Talented Mr Ripley and Frankenstein.

I have just watched this Channel 4 documentary. How disturbing and very sad. My condolences to the families and I hope that Peter didn't realise that he had been betrayed so terribly before he sadly died. Despite the lengthy prison sentence I feel that it wasn't enough,a full life term with no chance of parole would have been more fitting...
Benjamin Field should never be released.

Ben Field is a textbook psychopath. He had grown up in the rather twee world of middle england and the church, and as such disguised hinself perfectly to take advantage of people in that world. He came across as a nerd with a gym membership. It'd be interesting to see how he behaves in prison, where a lot of that behaviour would be laughed at. I can imagine he presents himself quite differently in there to try and manipulate fellow prisoners and prison staff. It'd also be interesting to hear how other prisoners view him.
As a single OAP myself, I find this not just scary, but disturbing...😔😷

This is so sad and heartbreaking.
We all want to be loved by someone special but sometimes it’s just not on the cards. The saying of when something is too good to be true should be seriously heeded.
The lengths some so called people are prepared to go is deplorable. Myself and hubby both cried through watching this. One with love in his heart and one who does not have one.

I watched the Sixth Commandment and the documentary on this case. I feel that Peter Farquah did not deserve to die the way he did. But I also think against someone like Ben Field he did not stand a chance. This is one of the most disturbing cases I've ever read about in my lifetime. It would be interesting to hear how Ben is coping day to day inside prison. And what the other prisoners and prison officers think of him.
What a horrible person it happens more than you think and the police did not help
I'm not really sure what you expected the police to do? It was going in behind closed doors and nobody, including Peter's family, suspected anything.

Recently last week the fantastic Timothy Spall made a very moving and heartbreaking film of this individual I'm gay and I'm on my own whether I did not go to Stow the way the Timothy field treated him was disgusting I'm glad is now serving 38 years in prison never trust somebody and I didn't like in this is the fact younger people can fall in love with somebody who is older and gay or do you suggest we all sit at home doing crochet tip of attitude of the police in this case actually a a very professional I hope goes out to his brother and his family😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢❤ we are allowed to love someone the straight community don't like it
You can love anyone but such an age difference and difference in finances should arouse suspicion. The same goes for heterosexual relationships. No one is expected to sit at home and crochet, unless they want to, but just be careful.
