The oldest restaurant in Georgia is The Pirates house in Savannah, Georgia. Seven blocks west from where General Oglethorpe landed in 1733, our history begins. Savannah’s World Famous Pirates House is located on one of the most historic spots in Georgia. It was first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a meeting point for pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Since then, The Pirates House has been entertaining visitors with a bounty of delicious food, drink, and rousing good times! What happened to McCrady's Charleston? On April 30, 2020, Neighborhood Dining Group announced that McCrady's would remain closed permanently after its shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. McGrady’s restaurant opened in the 80s. It was not a continual restaurant the whole entire time. The oldest continuing operating restaurant in South Carolina is in Charleston . It is Henry’s On the Market. It opened in 1932.
You got Georgia wrong. The original structure for The Pirate's House, located in Savannah, GA, was built in 1734, and first used as an inn and tavern in 1753. Obviously it wasn't a restaurant that entire time, but most of the one's on your list weren't either.
The Griswold Inn is in Essex Connecticut, not the State of Essex or the county in Massachusetts. It is also not spelled Griswald. Did a bad version of A.I. put this video together?
I love historic buildings and I love eating at restaurants so this post was perfect for me. But I also love history and accuracy. I also like fair play. Some of these entries seemed based on incorrect data and inconsistent criteria. The title is "oldest restaurant in each state". But how did they make the decision on which was the oldest? The criteria seemed to shift from place to place. Some of the restaurants started out in buildings that originally housed other businesses, went through several transformations, and at a later point in time housed a restaurant. So the restaurant's date does not necessarily go back to the time when the building was originally built. It's an old restaurant housed in the oldest building in the state. I bet there are other restaurants in the state who could better qualify for the title of oldest. To be accurate, the restaurant should be the oldest one still operating, from the date it opened to today. Many on this video meet that criteria, but not all do. That's not fair play.
Good video (overall). Just riddled with *very* poor edits: incorrect locations (wrong states shown or weird maps), incorrect voiceovers, etc. Takes away from the video's credibility.
This video was absolutely terrible 🤦 obviously you used AI heavily and you aren't from America because THERE IS NO STATE OF ESSEX 😂 Also you are missing a few states man lol.
Alaska: it's "seh-VEE-cheh," not "keh-VEE-cheh"! If you're making a video about restaurants and food, PLEASE make sure you at least pronounce the mentioned items correctly! SMH....
Another mistake, Pekin Noodle Parlor you say it's in Montana but you show Glur's Tavern, Nebraska in the name. And for Glur's tavern you show Pekin noodle parlors name.
The Columbia is definitely a must if you visit Florida. The 1905 salad can't be missed and the same with the Cuban sandwich. Never got to try the Paella though. And for those inclined, you can get hand-rolled cigars.
This is so bad I am going to give it a thumbs down, something I almost never do. Time after time it says one thing about a place, then something else that makes the first thing a lie! Lazy lies and contradictions.
Did you shoot any of your own video or get permission from any of the original creators whose work you "borrowed" and it seems did not identify correctly?
27:07... You make reference to the civil war yet you show archive footage of Japanese soldiers on horseback from Japan which is perfectly obvious if you look in the background
For the Hays House in Kansas, you mentioned weary traders on an 8 week journey from New Mexico to Missouri, yet showed said traders traveling from Mexico, Missouri to some location in the Ozarks - in Missouri! I guarantee that wasn’t an 8 week trip! 🤦🏻♀️
14:22 Nope....The best crab cakes in Maryland are NOT at Middleton Tavern. They are in my kitchen in Howard County. Everyone who has tried both agrees.
It is really becoming annoying how these content creators purposely pepper their videos with errors in order to generate more comments. Even I am guilty of adding to the posts as I call out their ploy.
The Connecticut River is out in the Springfield area of the state of Mass. closer to NY State, it isn't in Essex Massachusetts, the Essex River is and lots of tidal marsh separates it from the Atlantic Ocean. A fourth graders should know this A1, learn your landscapes!
This video is bullshit. Lots of places older in Colorado like the Silver Dollar in Leadville. I'm sure there are many other, but good job getting us to watch it & maybe go to these places.
I was JUST commenting that... The original structure for The Pirate's House, located in Savannah, GA, was built in 1734, and first used as an inn and tavern in 1753. Obviously it wasn't a restaurant that entire time, but most of the one's on this list weren't either.
Yeah, but the interiors were Ybor. They should have made the distinction or just footage of the Ybor location. I suspect this is about quantity, not quality.
Lots of mistakes new Hudson inn is the oldest restaurant in Michigan opened 19 years before the white horse inn n you showed Bessemer Michigan on a map when talking about Bessemer Alabama
Here we go: (1) as others have pointed out, Essex is not a state!!! (2) The Sycamore Inn in California also began in 1849, so who knows which came first. Just something to keep in mind! (3) The J. Huston Tavern in Arrow Rock, Missouri closed for good earlier this year after, as the fake narrator pointed out, several years in operation.
There is an Essex Connecticut. And it is at the end of the River. The Essex you are thinking of, yes, is North of Boston and has some of the Best Seafood anywhere.
Watching from Hartford CT. The Griswold Inn is in Essex Connecticut. The map shown in the video is incorrect. It's located on the Connecticut River near the mouth close to Old Saybrook.
You got the wrong Essex. The Griz is at the base of the Connecticut River. In Essex Connecticut. It is not the one in Massachusetts. Fur fuck's sake mon!
Dear Takeoutery, Oark General Store in Oark Arkansas is pronounced Oh-Ark, Not Ork. I hope you can fix the voice over because it's important. No one would ever call it Ork.
The Plaza is not the oldest restaurant in Georgia.
The Pirates House in Savannah was opened in 1753.
The Griswold Inn is in Essex, CT. You showed a town in Massachusetts on the map!

Who doesn't love the state of essex
I think this video was scripted, edited and narrated by a program.
So…..? Whats the point?
@@lindakeller3259EXACTLY...SOOO?
@@rosatrevino6515 So.... it's incorrect and bad? Or are people that brainrotten that they don't care?
Dude literally showed a picture of Michigan when talking about Alabama
Essex isn't a state...
Just got to that part
I didn’t know that covered wagon went all the way from Scotland to Nevada!!!
Well it could have before the continents separated, so there. 😂 J/k of course
How exactly did Theodore Roosevelt visit a restaurant that opened in 1933? He died in 1919.
The oldest restaurant in the US is the White Horse Tavern in Newport, Rhode Island, built in 1652 - 1673.
The Griswold Inn is in Essex Connecticut, not the State of Essex or the county in Massachusetts. It is also not spelled Griswald. Did a bad version of A.I. put this video together?
Thank you!!
A+ video!
LOVE IT! What an amazing video!
I never heard of the state of Essex
1:44 Kavichay. Stopped there.
bruh exactly
Lmfao

Based on the comments, it appears this video is very inaccurate.

This video was absolutely terrible 🤦 obviously you used AI heavily and you aren't from America because THERE IS NO STATE OF ESSEX 😂

Lots of mistakes here. You're showing pictures of Grand Central Station Oyster Bar as the Plaza restaurant in Georgia.
Thanks for the pointer
@@takeouterydon't you just love those people who never make mistakes so they correct everyone else!
Good catch, it’s annoying when bloggers just make up the narrative as fact .
Yes you are correct
Also the pirate house is the oldest in Ga
Also, Essex isn’t a state…
Evry time this creator said farm he showed a picture of slaves!!!????😮😮
Interesting pronunciation of ceviche.
Alaska: it's "seh-VEE-cheh," not "keh-VEE-cheh"! If you're making a video about restaurants and food, PLEASE make sure you at least pronounce the mentioned items correctly! SMH....
I caught that. Gotta be AI reading it that way. It's what lazy content farms do. They don't care about quality, just quantity.
Another mistake, Pekin Noodle Parlor you say it's in Montana but you show Glur's Tavern, Nebraska in the name. And for Glur's tavern you show Pekin noodle parlors name.
What about Connecticut? Ethnically diverse and one of the oldest states.
I just seen that!!!! I came to see if anyone noticed the poor state
When they show Essex for the Griswald Inn in Connecticut, they show Essex, Mass. on the map!
You got Wyoming's wrong. The Miner's And Stockmen's Bar in Hartville had been around for 18 years before the Occidental in Buffalo opened.
Sycamore Inn, in California was open before tadich in SF.
The Columbia is definitely a must if you visit Florida. The 1905 salad can't be missed and the same with the Cuban sandwich. Never got to try the Paella though. And for those inclined, you can get hand-rolled cigars.
Rocky Mountain Oysters are considered “dairy”??!

Did you shoot any of your own video or get permission from any of the original creators whose work you "borrowed" and it seems did not identify correctly?
I'm pretty sure there are MUCH older restaurants in Pennsylvania.
Would be awesome to visit all the establishments
Video of the Columbia restaurant is of the St. Augustine location, not the Tampa original.
Some of the inside footage is from The Colombia in Ybor City.
@@kimberlyrichardson8760 true, but most of the footage is St. Augustine.
Nice list! One quick correction though: The oldest restaurant in Tennessee is actually Varallo's in Nashville, which opened in 1907.
27:07... You make reference to the civil war yet you show archive footage of Japanese soldiers on horseback from Japan which is perfectly obvious if you look in the background
McGrady’s tavern in SC is closed (2020).
Varallo's is the oldest restaurant in Tennessee. Bell Buckle isn’t even in the top 10 oldest
12:08 While visiting the Talbot in Kentucky, check out across the street, Mammy's Kitchen & Bar. A coconut cream pie to die for.
Ah yes, the lovely state of Essex 😂🥴
Also Essex ct but show Essex mass

What time's dinner?
To his credit, considering all of his other blatant errors, he didn't say best, he said most legendary. They could be legendary for being terrible.
Tip Top, Lihue, Kauai opened 1916. Ota family still runs it. Safety tip. Don't ever challenge one in golf. The Oxtail Soup is to die for.

In my travels l had lunch at that little diner in Maine. I couldn't believe it. It is tiny inside. They grind and brew their own coffee.
I'm only in the "A" section, but already you screwed up the alphabetical order by placing Arkansas before Arizona.
North End Tavern is in Parkersburg, WV not Clarksburg, WV.
Tadich (SF) was the only thing they got right.
I went to the Bodega when we were on a ski trip in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Are there any Native American (Indian) restaurants serving traditional foods? .
Yes ,often family owned and some are from pre American revolution
Taos , and many of the Pueblos of NM

How could Theodore Roosevelt eat at Peacock Alley in Bismarck, ND, which this video claims opened in 1933, if he died on January 6, 1919. Thumbs down.
Griswald Inn and Union Oyster House are both listed for Massachsetts
Connecticut?
Helen Keller, Mickey Mantle, and other US presidents have dined there 🤣🤣🤣
Let’s go for wrong answers only -
"Possibly Portland's oldest restaurant." Isn't this supposed to be about the oldest restaurant in the state? And "possibly?"
NEW Mexico is not Mexico and is actually in the Southwest of the US ... not north of Missouri. 😮
Butte was know for copper not gold. And what is up with using pictures of Nazi soldier when talking about the civil war.

Many of these are 'Old' Buildings.... Not Old / Oldest Restaurants.
Find a writer and someone that can read... Wicked bad robo voice.
Michigan is wrong, the old tavern inn beats it by 30 years?
No actually new Hudson beats it by 19 years 1831 , old tavern opened in 1898 48 years after white horse inn 1850

“Kay-vee-chay,”. Lol

"After the Civil War" and shows WW 2 German soldiers. jeez
