Have had a Casio "wave guide" for 25years or more & still receives time signal. The buttons have now given up, however the digital time still runs perfectly. The analogue runs in sync with the digital clock, but 6 minutes faster. I have just recently bought a replacement, only because the buttons have failed.....& the strap is grubby. Another thing: the watch stood in a drawer for quite a long time and so the battery & timekeeping gave up, but amazingly bringing it back into the daylight brought it back to life again! I really appreciate your description on how to operate my new Casio upgrade, because the user guide instructions only came in Japanese🇯🇵
Hi Greg I have just received my WVA-M630D-9AJF with the champagne face from Japan it looks fantastic and I couldn't be more pleased, it looks like your enthusiasm for these watches has rubbed off onto me ,thanks again take care.
Great review, appreciated your thoroughness, but absolutely appreciated your explanation on the watch band adjustment. I have purchased a similar wave ceptor, a Japanese market one, and even having to go online with the instructions, there was no explanation on how to adjust the band. Not wanting to break it, I was scouring the internet looking for this, and you are the first person who explained it that I could find, so hats off to you!! Love the vids so far, subscribed!
I know its been a while but I just wanted to say that I ordered a LCW-M100DSE-2AER in Blue after watching this video. It works exactly like the WVA-M630D-/A2JF and I love it. Thank you for a good informative video!
Many thanks. Your vids make owning and enjoying these watches a breeze. Just got a WVA-M630 so the Japanese directions would not work for me, but I find this watch with the Arabic numerals a gem. So far, this 5161is beyond my expectations.
This was a Fantastic instructional video. You will learn everything there is to know about using and setting up this watch and adjusting the band. Thank you!
I have another video in which you can see the other versions a bit more clearly (in case you want to use that to decide what you want). Also, if you are willing to pay a little more for features like a sapphire crystal, consider Casio’s Lineage watches. ruclips.net/video/eaYnDScFT-M/видео.html
I have the green 3AJF and your help setting the time zone etc. was great. Thank you. The day date reading is on now (happily) and I don't know how it got there as the digital time was stuck on display and fiddling with it I got it changed. My interest in time began when employees would straggle in late claiming they were, in fact, on time. Same with record keeping of big machines on site at an hourly rate. All irritating not to mention costly. Ten minutes on the bill for ten big machines is not just coffee money. My friends and family think I am a bit of a nut as I have time keeping devices everywhere in the house, gym and outside too. I see you have made videos about solar power and will look at those with interest. Thanks again.
Can the community please let know how to disable the reception? In my time zone, there are no tower signals active unfortunately as we are in the lower hemisphere of The Earth.
The manual is here. support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/009/qw5161.pdf Page E-27 shows how to turn off Multiband 6 reception. But if the watch is set to a time zone where reception is not possible (like Sydney, for example) then the watch will turn off reception by itself anyway.
I have a question.Does the waveceptor automatically keep track of local time when you travel, or does it stay on your home time? Basically do the hands move depending on what time zone you're in?
No, you must adjust your home zone on arrival. What you can do though is to set the second "timekeeper" to the city you usually visit. With one long press of a button, you can then swap home with "world time". I live in Germany and have set all my watches to Colombia's time. If you want another "semi-automatic" change of time function, I would advise you to get yourself a Bluetooth CASIO watch (watch Mr. Anderson's reviews). Your watch would then synchronize with your phone on arrival AFTER you long press the Bluetooth button. If you want an automatic setting of the time, you'll have to invest in a GPS controlled watch (e.g. Casio OCEANUS)- those watches are a bit pricey (ca. 1400$), but they last "forever". NB. My first solar wave ceptor is 17 years old.
Many Thanks for the explanation of the functions of this very useful and practical watch. However; my question is that watch going to operate in countries that do not have this radio adjustment acility or not, please respond by return.
Mr. Anderson, the excuse at the beginning of the video is the same as mine when I tried to tell my wife. Sorry for my English. Thai fan! Keep upload sir!

Really great in-depth review. Do you know if the atomic signal updates the watch when you enter a new role zone via landing on a plane? Or do you have to set it manually when you land? Thank you so much.
The watch doesn’t change time zones by itself. But if you set the time zone it will stay accurate automatically, as long as you’ve selected a time zone where Multiband 6 is available to receive and there’s not too much radio interference.
Nice review!!! I just ordered mine because of your video. Any idea what is the watch lug width? I am about to order a Binlun gold and silver band to replace the original one as soon as the watch arrives but I can't find any specs online.

It really doesn't glide through that clasp otherwise!! Here's to another 10 years of wearing the white-faced watch! (These watches are NOT just for men!) 🙂
Hi Mr. Anderson. I am a new owner of a Casio Lineage watch. I sleep with the watch, it updates itself every night without any problems and it works perfectly. 3 time in the past month, immediately after I wake up (~8 am) I noticed that the LCD is blank and the seconds hand is stopped at random locations (not at the “R” or “W” locations) and the Minutes and Hours hand displaying the correct time. At that point, within a minute or so the seconds hand simply starts to move smoothly (without jumping to a specific location) on its own, the LCD displays the proper date and the watch works like nothing has happened. I have NEVER observed this happens at any time during the day. Any idea what could be happening? I suspected that maybe just before I wake up I somehow twisted my wrist and I pressed one of the buttons. However, I am only aware of a long press of the “4” o’clock button to obtain manual time update when the LCD goes blank and the seconds hand stopes. I am pretty sure that it is NOT what happened, as I am familiar with that sequence and the results. Thank you for your time and I love your great videos!
Great review! Have been looking at acquiring one of these for my collection. What is the case size? Looks a little small. Also, your thoughts on the build quality?
My g-shock mudmaster has a feature where the watch can swap the world time and home time with a long press on a button. So you leave the airport in your home time and land at your destination and immediately swap the time the hands show. Does this model do that? It otherwise has similar functions (except mine doesn’t have the multiband time) I can see why you totally wouldn’t understand the question about enough watches.... I certainly don’t! Great collection.
No, the Waveceptor won't do what your Mudmaster does. But I always wear my Waveceptor when I travel to different time zones (when I used to, that is, before the current times). As soon as the plane lifts off, I set my home time zone to wherever I am going. The hands automatically adjust to that new time zone. I set World Time to be my home time zone, which I can leave in the digital screen if I wish. So this is a true GMT watch in that it can simultaneously track two time zones. The only negative to me is that Hawaii is too far away too for atomic timekeeping to work.
I can’t find an easy way to swap world time and local time but, yes, I have that on some of my G-shocks. This also doesn’t seem to have a way to set it to NOT go into power save mode when it’s dark at night. Also, no snooze alarm or automatic night light like on several G-shocks. But I guess those are minor omissions. It’s still a very pretty watch.

The power saving function was not mention at all in the instruction sheet which was in Japanese so I thought something was wrong with my Casio Lineage, it just goes into nap mode and as soon as you expose to light, it wakes up, sort of like me..... I opened my m630 just for fun, then after a bit inspecting it, carefully closed (with a bit car oil to oil the rubber seal ring and screws - never tightening them much, just until a little sudden tork is on the tip of driver), 2 years ago. I swimmed and dived with it many times this year. I use it since 2016.
