    This sounds fun! One of my projects this year is making a Midori style notebook as a spiritual journal. Hope you have a lovely birthday :)

      Thank you. There is no 'right way', anymore than any one branch of Christianity is 'right'. We accept that and find the differences and similarities fascinating.

      I would love to visit there. So much history to take in (albeit quite disturbing history for the most part).

      If you visit go during Halloween to experience the full effect. It was a very interesting place to live though now the city officials are not pleased with being known as the Witch City and are trying to turn the place into a seaport tourist attraction. Very sad.

    I absolutely adore your videos and I'm now very excited for this series. Listening to your speak about your journals and specifically your practices really encourages me to get into better touch with mine. So much of what you said makes sense, and then there are other bits that I'm unfamiliar with but that is just my own ignorance and I hope to fix that. :) It's such a bother to try and explain to people what I am and the term "witch" just broadcasts an unfortunate roll of images into their minds, I can see it when I say it.
    Hopefully as I become a better practicer, I can become more knowledgeable and comfortable like you in who I am. Thanks so much!

      That's what your Books of Shadows (or your Book of Mirrors) is for :) I love to read and research things. TheFourQueens does some wonderful videos that make you really think about what you know and what you believe. I highly recommend her channel.

    I quite agree, I would never show my Book on YT. I've always felt that if someone wants to do a how to video about BOS's. They should make up one pacifically for that video.
    Love hearing your thoughts on things.
    Many blessings!

      I cannot wait for you to start this! Even though I am catholic, this really speaks to my inner witch (does that make sense?) lol I think we all moms and women have a little natural instinctive witchiness inside them. At least that's what I like to believe lol. That intuition we have has to have a deeper meaning no matter if one believes its God, angels or spirits. Thank you Rhomany for letting us have a peek into your life! You are the best!

      ***** When I say religion I don't mean 'organised religion'. I mean it in terms of 'believing in and having faith in a deity'. You can be Wiccan in religion but not be a witch in practice, or you can be both. Or a witch and practice a different religion altogether, or none. I like that we each get to define things for ourselves and that doesn't automatically make everyone else's version 'wrong'.

      LiliansArtStudio I think Roman Catholicism and Wicca/Paganism/Witchcraft have a lot in common. Of all religions it is most steeped in ritual and belief, in marking the turning of the year with religious ceremonies and in belief of the power of prayer and ritual to affect our lives. I was also raised Roman Catholic and still felt it was OK to practice witchcraft at the same time, which is common amongst gypsies and travellers. Even now I enjoy going to mass for the spirituality of it, I just don't join in the worship. There's something very reverential about a proper Roman Catholic Mass, just as there is in a well prepared and executed ritual.

      I was raised Roman Catholic and felt lost....its a story i mentioned before in one of my vlogs...at 13 found Wicca and my life changed. I hated the church and was made to go until I finally said NO...but i think everyone has their own experiences and thoughts

      I recently discovered TheFourQueens and she does some really thought provoking videos on this sort of stuff. She's a pantheist which isn't something I'd heard of. I don't think that quite fits me, but it gives me somewhere to start looking.

    Hello,
    Here is a name I came across;
    Vade Mecum--from the Latin it means "Go with me. "
    Vade Mecum refers to a book of useful things you constantly carry.
    That is my Midori.
    I would like to join the group. My Vade Mecum would either be about herbs or my Gaian Tarot deck.
    I love your channel.

    A very special Imbolc this year for you! exciting and full of opportunity! can't wait to see what effect it will have :) But I'm with you, I could also never find myself in Wicca, I do have some books on it. I found Practical Magic in the Northern Tradition by Nigel Pennick very interesting.

      Yes, the moon is even the same degree and house - 10' in house of creativity - which is also very appropriate! Feels like a total renewal and shake up, a real in depth spring clean. Not read that particular book, thanks I'll look it out.

    Thank you for sharing this video, I know it is a topic that could potentially open yourself up to many 'interesting' comments on YT! I haven't touched my BofS for a while, in fact I haven't been to circle for a while either and I should. I am nothing and I am everything lol! I don't have one form of spirituality or religious practice as such, I am open to anything and actually take elements from everything into just being me lol! Hope that makes sense. I am really looking forward to this series so thank you. Am coming over to your FB group x

      I just delete any trolling. I don't have time for that rubbish!
      I haven't added to mine in a while, probably a year or more, but I use it still. I think part of the reason I don't add to it is because it doesn't inspire me anymore. Which is why I want to redo it.

    I have always dreamed of some beautiful, inspired, permanent relic-y bos that I can pass on (like some women, super confident in their cooking can eventually pass on to their family "Nana's Cookbook") But, my path has taken many twists & turns, & I have tweaked my writings through the years. I have had to settle for a huge 3 ring binder w/ a pic that appeals to me slipped into the front cover sleeve) w/ the pages in plastic sleeves inside :-p (so not my taste, but makes it more functional) that I can remove as needed, and don't spill things on and ruin! :-) Looking forward!

      It doesn't really matter what form it takes, it's the passing on the knowledge that counts I think. There's a ritual called 'croning'. When an older woman (often once she passes menopause) begins to write up her knowledge into a book that will be a sort of 'final version' of her life's work. I always fancied doing that myself, I think it would be a lovely thing to pass on.

    • @hipretty
      @hipretty 10 лет назад

      Sounds wonderful…I think I will do that…once I am beyond that stage. I am guessing my well loved and used plastic coated pages can finally become a permanent fixture in a proper established book by then! ;-)

    I been hear people said that been Witch is that you do magic. I feel lines more hard tell here in USA. I do herb magic, tarot and moon magic too. I was part of a circle for three years. Now I alone. But the books I have on wicca agree my life path, I never choose use magic to harm ,because I use other ways dealing with troubles first. I know people who use it and sometime it does not work. Any way It been on my mind a while. I' am witch and wicca. I believe in Goddess and Gods. But up to me change my life and I have freewill. Blessed Be.:)) PS happy Birthday to you.

    • @RhomanysRealm
      @RhomanysRealm  10 лет назад

      It sort of depends what you class as 'magic'. If you include rituals, then technically you could call a Roman Catholic a witch. Personally I think if you do spells and divination, what I call 'active' magic, then it's a practice and is therefore witchcraft. If you only do ritual and follow it as a belief system, then you are on the religious (Wicca/Pagan/whatever) side, but it is perfectly possible to be both. I know a very well practiced witch who is also a Christian. Prayer in itself can be considered a form of prayer. The beauty of this path is that you define it for yourself and you being right doesn't automatically make everyone else wrong.

      Thanks, I think that true too. I see other pagans and witch here. Said their not wicca. I feel like bad thing to be wicca. I been on this path many years and keep learning new things everyday. I love trying new stuff art and magic. You talk use images as focus for magic.I find my art and magic is use heart more today. The nature is where most at peace and create art is life to me. The good and evil thing is not what I' am about find balance in my life. Thank send this message .You and Kelly are first people I feel really connect to with art and magic. Blessed be:))

    Loved your mentioning of talking to YOURSELF on the screen, rather than as if to EVERYONE, and looking like an idiot! I'm going to have to remember that one! (I have only a few videos, you might notice! ha! ha!)... Very interesting all that you talk about here. I am a Christian, though; but I find myself curious as to whether you can?? or should not??? be BOTH a Christian and a witch/wiccan? You mentioned someone who is both. I have a friend who I believe is practicing as both, but we haven't discussed it in great detail. She mentioned placing a glass of water on my window sill for reasons I can't even remember now... Only thing I have clear in my mind at the moment is that your being born on the full moon caused me to look up what moon I was born under. I had never thought of it before!!!.. It turns out, if the site I saw was accurate, that I was born under a full moon!!.. Wow!.. Now what does THAT mean?! (What have you started here?! ha! ha!.. Because at some point, when I have the time, I'll be curious to look THAT up now!) All in all, I appreciated hearing your point of view, and explanation of things. Loved seeing your pup at the beginning of the video! So sweet! Happy Birthday! ~tina

    so people asked you to show your book, but how do you make a 'workbook of shadows' what goes into it? { I haven't practiced for about 8 years and forgot most of what my mom taught me. }

      Basically, I use my BoS for reference, things I want to keep/copy up etc. My WBoS is where I collect things etc. I also work out and do research for spells in there, add research notes, notes on things I'm learning, etc. Once I filter out the important stuff to keep on hand, that goes into my BoS proper.
