      does that work for faux leather too? sorry i wasnt sure if it was included in 'any type'

    • @RhomanysRealm
      @RhomanysRealm  5 лет назад +5

      Faux leather is usually pvc or vinyl so want something you wouldn’t use on leather. You can buy vinyl spray in shoe shops for cleaning faux accessories, I’d go for something like that. You’ll struggle to make vinyl more pliable, you can fold it with heat - just warm it with a hair dryer and fold til it cools. But it rarely stays pliable unless it started out pliable

    Ive actually ordered what you would call a 'workbook of shadows' i need to get back into what my mother taught me. I was so much happier as a kid, and I know why. The spiritual connection I had with my mother, and the circles she used to take me to. When I stopped all of that, it was like I was abandoning everything I was taught as a kid. when my mom died, I left everything behind and converted to Christianity for the same emotional support I had around my mother. But then I started to question it. Having been on both sides of the fence, I can say that we all, every human being, Actually warships the same god. Pagans call him simply spirit. To me, this is just fine. Everyone needs something to believe in.

    May I make a suggestion? Maybe try using a dark brown fineliner instead of a purely black one for your text. In that way the text and images seem more like they belong together. The aged picture now looks so lovely aged while the text is so suprisingly modern. You know, just my two cents :)

It's the ONLY one i've seen so far that i actually LOVE. full of information and yet beautiful. not fluff but actual information. omg!!!
    I also have those stamps, not the same ones but different and i occasionally stain the paper with the colors too so it looks like i've aged the book more XD Our original family book was burned in a fire when we were kids and my mom passed before she could finish redoing the book. our original looks the way yours does. no fluff, just information :D

    Thank you so much for mentioning the norse rede of honor. I just bought some norse books as I am trying to connect with it and find myself and this is just perfect. After reading it I've found it to be 100% what I feel. I am not yet at a point where I'm reading the havamal, I'm building up to it though. I may have stumbled across it at one point eventually but you've certainly saved me time and brought me straight to it.
    Edit: ugh. Sadly I can't find a german version of this rede, all I could find was the version as taken from Ed Fitch's "The Rites of Odin". I had hoped that book would have been published in german as well, I'll be doing some more digging but I may just sit down and translate it myself. I'm still torn on whether to write my book of shadows in english or german, or possibly a mix. Part of me wants to write it in german, the bigger part really, because even though I am legitimately american and german, I was born and raised in Germany and spent most of my life there; it's home to me and I will never identify with the US as much as I do with Germany.
    Guess I have a translation sesh in the making. If for some odd reason anybody knows of a translation already floating around, I'd love to know, it would save me a lot of time 😊

    • @RhomanysRealm
      @RhomanysRealm  9 лет назад

      That depends. Do you believe it's true? I don't. Other people do. It's your choice. You need to explore and research the subject for yourself and decide what's right for you. If you feel being with you is protection enough, that's fine. If it makes you feel better you could add a protection herb, charm, crystal whatever. The biggest issue really is whether you think it's worth the risk of losing it. If not, perhaps have one you keep at home and another, more portable one for out and about.

      Michael Austin For me, it's a place I can jot down ideas, stick in things to read later, just generally collect stuff that I want to work on or look at. These things may or may not make it into my 'official' book of shadows later. My book of shadows stays on or near my altar and I use it to record things I want to keep. My workbook of shadows is just a notebook style one that I can throw anything in. A rough book, if you like.

      Michael Doyle Thank you, hoping to get some more videos soon. Mine was a gift, but there is a girl on Ebay who sells them for very reasonable prices. www.ebay.co.uk/usr/every-witch-way?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

    Rho--what are you going to fix the pastel pencil with so it doesn't mark the opposite page?

    • @RhomanysRealm
      @RhomanysRealm  10 лет назад

      Nothing. If it marks the opposite page it marks, I don't mind. But it's usually fixed enough once it's rubbed in like that. It's only if you draw with it 'beat' and unblended you really need to fix it. If I do feel it needs fixing I'll just use unscented cheap hairspray like I normally do.

      A real book of shadows is built over time. Until I left home at 18 mine was a regular A4 sketchbook - and my family knew I practiced. Focus on study for now, just like you’d learn anything else. Somewhere to make notes and jot down spells is really all you need. The rest is just aesthetics

    I actually have that black leather book with the red velvet inside. It is a lovely book but it is a bitch for using a quill.

    • @RhomanysRealm
      @RhomanysRealm  10 лет назад

      Rothiir Magus Yeah, I'm gutted my quill and ink doesn't work on it, but it works well with gel pen.

    • @TNT1990ful
      @TNT1990ful 10 лет назад

      RhomanysRealm Yeah all of my pens work with it too. It is thick handmade paper so when I use my quill on it it catches on it and suckes most of the ink out. It is a really nice book though, I am just perplexed as to what to fill it with as I hate just putting anything into them. I prefer to have one book dedicated to one topic so when I need to look for it I can just pick p the right book and there it is.

    I make Black Books in the 1300's and 1400's and had Your new book been finished off right your Hot Damp table would have never made a mark of your book let alone leave a mark on your table.....and Shoe wax (black foe a black book) that you can't find will take care of this,,,,sad realy, that you got a new book and they never finished it for you.......

      There are various different pronunciations depending on where you originate from. My Gaelic speaking grandmother taught me ‘sav-en’ and I’ll be sticking with it.
