As the PDA described in the first game= It is normal when first piloting a Prawn suit to feel a sense of limitless power. Prawn operators receive weeks of training to counteract this phenomenon. You will have to make do with self-discipline. Subnautica's prawn suit Feels and plays Exactly as the PDA describes it. When you first build that suit, you feel like a beast that can take on the world.
I managed to only use the prawn suit to get me through the end game of Subnautica, I didn't expect the grapple hook and jump boost upgrade duo to so speedy. Loved it
The differences between Below zero prawn and regular prawn could be the model that is crafted with the original being heavy duty and the second built more for recon and exploration.
I think you undersold the by far best arm upgrade: the grappling hook. Used correctly this allows for some incredibly fun and fast traversal of terrain in Subnautica. It takes some time learning how to do it but you basically shoot the hook at a location that is far away but only slightly above your current depth (ex north), then moving the suit diagonally forward toward the hook (north west) and you will notice the speed picking up quickly. At the top of the speed before reeling in all the way, jump and let go of the hook, and you conserve that speed boost for a long time while moving through the water, keeping from touching the ground again using the thrusters. It's a really really fun and useful unintended gameplay mechanic that sets the Prawn suit apart from all the other vehicles in the game. They also patched this away in Below Zero which was a huge disappointment. Hopefully it's still in the updated version of the original game. Tbh I think this mechanic alone should have been about 1/3 of the video, it's so good.
While it's really good especially for mobility, the point of the PRAWN is the drill arm for Ion Cubes, along with a hell of a lot of resources like copper and silver that are normally hell to get enough of
When I first built my prawn suit, I accidentally built it over the blood kelp forest entrance. All the possible places it could've landed and I had to watch as it sunk into a ravine like 5 meters across lol. I was so sad as I watched it go, knowing I now had to go all the way back to my base in the shallows to build a grappling hook arm just to get it out.
@@ganeshsaithala3965the same thing happened to me when I first boarded the prawn suit lmao I accidentally exited while it was in the middle of jumping, then it ended up shooting perfectly into the opening and fell to the very bottom where it lands right on top of the degasi base.

@@YaBoiBoris i mean it can hover with the jetpack activated, if you go forward you will sort of glyde over the waves which doesnt happen in the og subnautica
I named my PRAWN the Peel 'n' Eat, because that's what the sharks are always trying to do to me when i use it. (Weirdly, the reapers usually leave me alone, and the ghost juvinile attacked once but swam off after i punched it in the nose, presumably deciding to eat something less fighty)
Drill is good but i prefer punching. Sometimes its hard to keep the drill in contact with whatever your trying to kill so you don't end up doing a lot of damage. The prawn suit's punch delivers all of it's damage the moment it lands so even if the leviathan is thrashing around a lot you can still land good damage on it and kill it relatively fast.
Minor minor correction, the Prawn Suit does not take ANY hull damage from collisions, so the Hull Reinforcement Module is useless on it, because as you said it doesn't defend against attacks from enemies Great video nonetheless! Edit: ah just saw someone else beat me to it. I do agree with what you said that from a lore perspective it probably does work as described
This was probably just overlooked, but did anybody else notice the Mercury II in Below Zero had Mk. III suits? This is odd considering Alterra was the sole user of the suits, according to the PDA
Its not from Mercury II I believe, but from the Alterra research team attempting to scavenge some parts. Theres a PDA describing this with a picture of the Mercury 2 attached to it, although its not clear why the suits broke down only in the bow section
i like to think that there's little vacuum tubes connecting the hands to the storage and that's how items are transported to it, while it just bends its arms backwards to plop in larger items (like metal salvage). And then it drains any water that would've been sucked in (or has a small airlock system?).
I have an idea for a "Mega P.R.A.W.N Suit" the simple version is that it's two P.R.A.W.N Suits combined with four arms and it can hold a Seamoth AND a P.R.A.W.N Suit also it *needs* the Seamoth to pilot because it's the cockpit. I hope it gets into Subnactica 3
Grappling and drill duo seem the best in my opinion. ( I havent made a prawn yet ) Propulsion and torpedo seem the most fun overall. Having one plain arm and one customised arm seems the most convenient.
5:03 despite the unique atttack animation, the drill is a less effective and damaging weapon than just punching with the default arm. I only ever used punching for killing the juvenile ghost in the lost river to make it a safer highway though.
my personal idea for a major arm upgrade is having a multitool type arm, with grapple wires, a retractable drill, and the grabber claws also becoming propulsion field emitters, as well as a built in thermoblade somewhere for increased attack power
Reinforcements reduce collision damage, but the prawn is immune anyway so it's useless. Storage modules only add six slots instead of the sixteen the seamoth gets, so the best upgrades are the thermal reactor, for saving power, and any efficiency modules you can fit after that. The jump jets are an essential upgrade for getting around and everything is just less convenient without them. The base claws are useful for grabbing small objects the drill can't and they deal more damage, but the grappling hook offers the best mobility.

Hey if you like subnautica there is a game that induces more thalasophobia in me than subnautica and im talking abut barotrauma its a "fun" 2d game you can play it with frends or if you like the true terifying underwater experience alone with AI as your comrades so ye this is a sugestion for a cool game if you would like to see more deep water content and some big creatures. if you play it enjoy (:
