I built a snowfox my first playthrough and although at first seemed unusable I eventually got used to it. I like that it's much faster and smoother than the prawn. Actually using a prawn for more than few minutes causes me headaches due to the constant up down bobbing while walking.

I like the Snowfox in concept, but 2 of the 3 Snowfoxes I made fell through the world when I deployed them from my inventory so I just decided to use the PRAWN suit for surface expeditions. In modern Below Zero, the "exposed" part of the Snowfox got patched out, so it's much better than it used to be.

(though cutting the extra upgrade slot feels kinda pointless). my only question is how it keeps you warm. Is there a butt warmer, or is it game magic?

As many others said ,it is somewhat clunky, however it had (if inremember right) a heating function, so that was a pass for me, and even if it didnt, it is the fastest way to go around an island, and a great way to escape.
The snowfox is very hard to control in the game - at least on PS4. Steering left to right uses the analog sticks differently to every other vehicle. It's hard to get used to the controls, so I didn't bother with it. Prawn is way better for any of the on-ice exploration anyway. I built a snowfox in my first play of the game, but decided it wasn't worth the bother after that, so now I just use the Prawn.
Hm… If Unknown Worlds had a sister series to Subnautica based around land/underground exploration, I could see the Fox line of hover bikes performing a similar role to the Seaglide. Otherwise, it’s probably best left in the pile of half-baked experimental ideas that is Below Zero. Also, like literally every other vehicle, all those upgrades are things I would want as a standard for my ride; or at least permanent buffs instead of a module that needs to be swapped.
I didn't walk in prawn suit... I did pogo hop in prawn suit! (not sure if it works at PC but at consoles it makes prawn go freakishly fast and even faster than snowfox)
I did build one and used a couple times, but somehow the prawn with grappling hook maneuvered in the arctic spires much faster, to the point no Ice Worm caught me (I was being hit all the time with the snowfox)
I think that the snowfox feels like a waste of resources, because the prawn can do the same stuff as the snowfox. There should be some thing to buff the snowfox, and debuff the prawn. Something like a tight gap, where you can only get thru with a snowfox.
i mean the snowfox is cool and its fast but the prawn suit.. yeah so just drop an item u dont need, grapple onto it with the grapple arm or u can grapple onto a snow stalker/wall/floor and just go several times faster than the snow fox.. also the ice worm always flings me off the snowfox while it doesnt do that with the prawn suit, it can damage the prawn suit 25 to 50 hp but u can just repair it... yeah my experience with the prawn suit 5 out of 5 i didnt need to get worry about losing my hp on snowfox or other
i made it in first playthrough and riding on this was one of my favorite activities, trying to jump over bridge on this and was dissapointed because game haven't achievement for this, so many wasted opportunites for cool achievements in this games
I was really hyped for the snowfox, but it was kind of a let down. The ice worms were just mildly annoying and not actually threatening and I was hoping that the fact that the snowfox hovers would reduce these irritations, but to no avail. I was hoping for awesome dashes around the dangers of the world but instead the ice worm just awkwardly removes you from the bike, deals a bit of damage, then leaves you alone. I think that later builds of it were more controllable than when it was first added, but once again the prawn suit just negates the need for any other means of transportation just like in the first subnautica. I think the biggest flaw with the snowfox is the land portion of the game was just so uninteresting and I felt no need to go on land save to complete the story. In terms of Star Wars, I was hoping for a speeder bike and got a Boba Fett Vespa instead.
Yep definitely agree Rovel Fox, I had similar issues with BZ land portions which I mention in my review. I think the Snowfox tries to fill a gap that doesn't really exist, the Prawn is just so much more useful unfortunately. Lets hope they learn from this if we see the vehicle again in a future game! :)
the only issue that made snowfox unusable for me was the turning. at low speed the driver turns instead of the vehicle and then the vehicle turns as it accelerates. just make the vehicle turn. and also it could do it faster
I'd rather be in my Prawn Suit. This tiny thing can't function well when there's a giant ice worm digging nearby. It always kicks you off it. Prawn Suit Grapple+Booster maneuver can outpace anything in the game easy.
I walked around with the prawn suit because 1 I didn't unlock the snowfox 2 with feet I'm gonna freeze to death 3 I wasn't using it for anything and it felt useless 😢😢😢😢😢 sorry but in th Subnautica below zero you go everywhere with the seatruck and at land with the snowfox sooooo where do I use the prawn suit? In first Subnautica you need it to go to the lost river but you will say why do we need the cyclops? Ummmmm you need to craft the cyclops shield for the rocket. And to keep the prawn suit with battery while you go to the lost river but you can put the upgrade that with hight temperature you will gain energy.
The snowfox is a great vehicle and all but once i pick it up and place it again it glitches under the ground, lost there forever and the worst part is i need to make a new one 😡😡
For me, snowfox is one of the most fun things in the game Snowfox is not that useful, cus the game dont have essencial things in the arctic spires, is just fun to use. If they made cool things in the end of arctic spires it would be really good. I would make a whole hoverzone with platforms cus is so fun
Hated it. It was the only other vehicle in BZ we got, and it couldn't even drive over water. So either make a landbase next to the land areas with a charge pad, or waste inventory slots, which were already competing with seaglide and spy penguin. It wouldn't even need to dive under water, but being able to skim over water surfaces as easy as land, would have dramatically increased its usefulness, especially since that behavior was already featured in promo trailers. Why they opted to make it move in a snails pace above water is beyond me.
Yeah it really feels like a vehicle that doesn't fill its intended gap very well, hence why I ignored it the first time I played the game! A shame really, as if it was smoother I think it would be a lot of fun!
I did build the snowfox, and found both it, and the major above surface biomes of the game to be disappointing. They are mostly an excuse to Frankenstein a racing game into what is already an enjoyable exploration and base building game

I made a snowfox my first playthrough. Then at one point I went to deploy it and it clipped through the map and I never got to use it again
1:11 the only difference is the fact of cyclops is 70x a snowfox size
"It allows the snowfox to make small jumps,, *jumps into the stratosphere*
We. Have. Liftoff. 🚀
I made it just for the steam achievement, but I rode it once, hated it, and then used the prawn to get through.
I think that the snowfox feels like a waste of resources, because the prawn can do the same stuff as the snowfox.
There should be some thing to buff the snowfox, and debuff the prawn. Something like a tight gap, where you can only get thru with a snowfox.
I enjoyed the Snowfox - so speedy!!
It was quite fun, although very bumpy!
i mean the snowfox is cool and its fast but the prawn suit.. yeah so just drop an item u dont need, grapple onto it with the grapple arm or u can grapple onto a snow stalker/wall/floor and just go several times faster than the snow fox.. also the ice worm always flings me off the snowfox while it doesnt do that with the prawn suit, it can damage the prawn suit 25 to 50 hp but u can just repair it... yeah my experience with the prawn suit 5 out of 5 i didnt need to get worry about losing my hp on snowfox or other
i made it in first playthrough and riding on this was one of my favorite activities, trying to jump over bridge on this and was dissapointed because game haven't achievement for this, so many wasted opportunites for cool achievements in this games
Me who didnt knew this vechicle exists and passing lang on Prawn suit XDD.
If The Snowfox could hover over water wtih an upgrade THEN it'd be worth making. But it doesn't so instead I use a prawn suit with a grappling arm!
I never made it either I just used the prawn suit and spammed jump past the ice worms
“Small jumps” *proceeds to enter orbit*
I used the snow fox until I realized you can just take the Cyclops on land.
Honestly the Snowfox wasn't in the game during my first playthrough. It got added in a later update, and I haven't played since then
Prawn suit on land
Nah
I’d walk on feet
Build a habitat when needed warmth
Me when aletho uploads: 🥶🥶🥶
Ice Cold 😎
If in doubt with subnanutica vehicles watch Aletho for 20 minutes. After that you'll be funnier and be able to work for Alterra
I always use the prawn suit
The snowfox is a great vehicle and all but once i pick it up and place it again it glitches under the ground, lost there forever and the worst part is i need to make a new one 😡😡
He was definitely paid to say the Snow fox is actually good
For me, snowfox is one of the most fun things in the game
Snowfox is not that useful, cus the game dont have essencial things in the arctic spires, is just fun to use. If they made cool things in the end of arctic spires it would be really good.
I would make a whole hoverzone with platforms cus is so fun
i know im late but why does the snowfox just look like the brown hover bike in star wars
Wait, how come the snow fox hovers when it’s not even touching the ground, even though ice worms can’t feel it
I also just used prawn :p
I like the snowfox but I can't find out how to turn
I did build the snowfox, and found both it, and the major above surface biomes of the game to be disappointing.
They are mostly an excuse to Frankenstein a racing game into what is already an enjoyable exploration and base building game
Hey i like the vid and i would like you to doa vid about the sea truck so you know what i like you to do? PLAY BAROTRAUMA
Seatruck video is in the works MClord! It even has a surprise involved!
Anyone else just never use it? And just walk around in the prawn?
