Coming from a legalistic “absolutely no alcohol” household, how do I not push other believers away with my current opinions on alcohol, how? How do I not move into a mental state of judgement and condescension of other who drink when I don’t?

@ 17:22 I push back HARD against that mindset. I havent had a drink since I was 16. I made plenty of friends in college that also didnt drink and some that did but rarely. My wife drinks maybe 2 times a year. Do not believe that you need to drink to have a social life.

I love that you put scripture into your words! I think a lot of false teachers don't intentionally lead people astray, but they share their misunderstandings by stealing the authority of the Bible. Thank you!

Awesome episode. Drinking just isn't something you are obligated to do. You have nothing to gain if you do. You have nothing to lose if you don't. It's unfortunate that it seems mandatory to so many people when you can be just as happy and excited about life sober as you can if you drink. I really hope and pray this episode reaches so far and wide and helps people understand this topic better.

Very biblical and practical advice on alcohol. Thank you for covering this topic. Also, of course Jesus turned water into alcoholic wine. Is there any other type of wine?

Wait was there scripture that it was or wasn’t alcohol…or just because it is wine that it’s alcoholic. I don’t think Jesus made anything that is fermented. I love the scriptures mentioned about being alcoholic or addicted but if casual alcohol or someone who can drink without being drunk is there moderation for everything that is addictive? Or does it just pertain to alcohol? What is best for the lost? To drink or not to drink? That is the question 😂
    Love what you guys do!

I don’t consume alcohol but I’m struggling applying 1 Corinthians 8 in other areas. I really want tattoos, ones which I believe would be glorifying and honoring to God. Should I refrain and cater towards incorrect theology taken out of context? If this is the case, then at what point does it become unreasonable? I also wear beanies to church. On rare occasions at new churches I’m visiting, and older individual will tell me it’s disrespectful to wear my hat. Which I find ironic, because this person doesn’t know me or my story, and they find the need to make a new attendee feel unwelcome immediately. I take it off out of respect, but should I prematurely take it off because an older Christian (who probably spent their entire lives in the church), let’s religious tradition dictate their belief system?

Makes me so sad seeing this kind of justification by believers out there. That man that saw the witness of the two men at the fraternity that didn’t drink is what got him saved or helped ask the question anyways. Ever wonder why he asked?? Because those two guys that DIDNT drink were different from what everyone else was doing. Christins should be SET APART from the world. If those two guys at the fraternity were believers that justified and even claimed drinking as being something to honor God (just laughable) that guy would not thought twice about them. Why tell young people to tip toe around alcohol. No one knows they will be an alcoholic. Why tip toe around sin. Or potential for sin. The Bible says to RUN from sin! It’s just ridiculous. Believers should not drink period. No one can know what sip or drink will take them from sober to sin (drunk or just not being of a sound mind) This coming from a believer full of issues that I need Christ to help me with daily. Also, a believer who had many of your same viewpoints and used to drink. And later became a full blown alcoholic. I’ve been in recovery for 8.5years by the grace and deliverance of Jesus. Glory to His name! If anything, we should be saying don’t do it. None of this, well stop if you are wobbly at the urinal nonsense.

Yeeeeesh. Touchy subject. Did not help at ALL in fact muddied the water even more for me and my questions on why struggle with it at 24 years old. Sounds like 3 people who are out of touch with modern young Christians. How about talking about what do EVEN WHEN YOU KNOW what God says about alcohol and still choose to do it and accept the the consequences. Talk ab that😂
