10in contact wheel for blacksmith 2 x 72 belt grinder.

So a little over a year ago I built a 2 X 72 belt grinder, I just got around to getting a contact wheel for it.
This is the contact wheel I used, I can't tell you how long it will last but at least overnight at this point!

Hello, Was just browsing around and came across your videos. What caught my eye was that you are in Tennesee and that you offer Blacksmith courses. I will get back with you on that, But while watching this video, right at mile marker 11.43 a spark at your switch box caught my ey, THought it may have been from you grinding, but after running it several times it wasnt. Anyways, something you may want to look at. Strange how things like that catche my eye, I even seen a mouse run across Johns (Black bear forge) floor. Anyways, stay warm up there, I am in NW Florida.

I have watched all four videos. I have a nice Baldor 1 horsepower that I could use. What is the RPM rating on yours? I’d love to have variable speed, but a 3 phase motor and VFD are out of my budget. My motor is 3,450. Too fast?

You were still hitting the outer race of the bearing on both sides.

Move that switch so you aren't leaning over all that mechanical movement to turn it on/off.

Only looks that way because where the camera is, it normally isn't an issue.

$85.00 for a wheel is not expensive? that is too me i'd went $40.00 at most for that!! couldn't find anything at the local mower shop cheaper that would work? frankly unless you're making knives with hollow grinds a lot i don't see much advantage over the flat platen myself! i think a table would be more of a benefit than the wheel would, but one thing Branden Dave Evader uses them in knife making and he had a wheel come off mid grind and almost turn him into a soprano so be careful with it!!
