- First railway of my Isle of Man trip was the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway. Opened in 1876 by Thomas Lightfoot, this 3ft narrow gauge double tracked tramway runs for approx 1.5 miles along Douglas promenade.
Our noble steed for the journey was gorgeous Alec who loved mint imperials!

First time for me to go over to the Isle of Man. Great place and definitely worth a visit - I did 6 railways in 5 days and I’ve found even more!
Many years since I rode that. Just lovely to see it all again. And your daughter asks some very logical questions - how does the horse know which way to go?
Glad you enjoyed. To be fair the kids do provide lovey commentary… I think I answered saying it’s on rails (might’ve said it in Welsh though)
