You might want to repeat the trip on foot Paul. I often walk the length of the Prom and am surprised how poor the footways are, especially the new "tarmac" areas from about Broadway north. They are already like the Mountains of Mourne. Seems the foundations are sinking. I'm only talking about the new prom footways, the promenade footway is altogether another matter of course.

What's the most amazing is that during tourist season, when horse tram is running it can still slow down the traffic to 5 mph if a bus or delivery vehicle cannot squeeze betwenn it and cars parked on the side. You would think, that with redesign that will be adressed. Cracked pink concrete also worth mentioning and unusual "roundels" made us famous in worldwide news

Are the zebra crossings actually legal, as they don’t have zig-zag lines?

The prom in general is far to narrow. The doi and the Government had a good chance to do the hole prom and especially doing a sea wall

Are horse trams not real trams? What is a 'real tram' ??

I was there in August 2023 and as I parked my car on the promenade ''FACING THE SEA'' was told by a passing motorist, ''Hello you cannot park your car facing that way, u have to face the road''... How weird....!! Also first time been back to Douglas in over 20yrs.. It was really quiet for August, hardly any tourists at all... That's what happens when u turn an island into a tax haven.....!!

I suppose it's so you are not reversing into oncoming traffic on the busy promenade.
