Pleasant surprise seeing Daedelus here! Actually the greatest live show I've ever seen was Daedelus in Cambridge Massachusetts - the show got broken up by campus police for lack of proper permission, and somehow the shows organizer managed to move it to the second floor apartment of a local town house. Maybe 40 or so people packed into the living room around Daedelus with just his monome, playing a bunch of peaceful and serene contemplative tracks that fit the new setting. He'd take the time to speak about the pieces between songs and chat with everyone. Was the coolest and most unique live music experience I've had. Anyhow just seemed like a good time to share that haha. All of these tracks were great, this is a really fun series!
in a day where it seems so much h is regurgitated, Andrew's 4 producers series is definitely a breath of fresh air with its originality and unique results
Hi everyone, I have a question. Is there a finite limit to musical compositions possible? For example, on a piano, say I theoretically wrote every 4 note melody possible, and every 4 beat chord progression possible on a piano. If I wanted to make a new song with an 8 note melody, wouldn’t I be just reusing two 4 note melodies I already used up if all had been written? And then, if I wrote a new song with a 16 note melody, wouldn’t I just be reusing four of the same 4 note Melodie’s put together? And so on. Does this prove music is finite?
@@jessebell186 this only applies to short melodies, which mathematically are bound to be repeated, and have already been accidentally repeated throughout music history. But the combination of melodies, the context in which they're used, the instruments sounds and technologies that are being used, the cultural background of the artist, Sampling and stuff... Probably melodies will repeat themselves, but they're really the most basic element of music. Art is what makes it infinite.
I love how Sarah's personal style comes through everything she makes. I have been listening to her music since she was playing with The Fine Constant and it all feels like a big story.
4:28 Wangleline: sounds like I fell in a video game portal, and I’ll probably die in Souls-like hell. 8:58 Sarah: giving me The Mandelorian soundtrack vibes. 14:01 Daedelus: bro, that’s the gods having a chat/argument. 20:01 Andrew: feels like when trying to remember what happened when I blacked-out. Edit: nomination for next sample, whatever this sound is: ruclips.net/user/shortscYLGV09mU5Y?feature=share
That WangleLine track sounded like the weirdest bastard child of hyperpop and 90s happy hardcore. Utterly, gloriously bonkers. I completely agree with the "completely nostalgic, yet new" remark.
love how everyone tackled these samples from completely different angles. probably the most unique vid in this series yet and everyone brought something unique and fresh.
So under appreciated. Always been one of my top favorite producers. His output is INSANE. Genres all over the place. The man is a damn genius. Don't see him pop enough places, was so excited to see this.

Daedelus' reaction to Wangleline's track is why I love this series. Shock > Awe > Enjoyment. There always seems to be someone caught out by one of the other producers. Like they are being introduced to a whole new genre which they end up enjoying. Awesome work again!
@@flandretek Wangleline's song actually did get into a rhythm game! It's in vivid/stasis which is free on PC. (Disclaimer: I'm one of the programmers for vivid/stasis, but I joined the project long after Spell Diver (Wangleline's track) got added.)

It's always fascinating to me how much each producer can pull from these seemingly tiny samples. I know they're adding plenty to it, of course, but the amount of inspiration they get is crazy!
Please have the artist Bad Computer on this series! His sound design and composure of his songs are so unique I think he’d make a great addition to this.

This track Andrew made is the closest I've heard anyone on this challenge to Igorr and Clowncore, that was amazing, Wangleline's track was also insane! And just having Daedelus on this blew my brain out but his track brought me back to life
As a fan of Daedalus for over 20 years now (😮) it was a real pleasure to see a small bit of his process. Thanks for having him on! And I also learned about some other great producers. They all make it look so easy, thanks for the series, it’s truly inspiring.

Didn't expect to see Daedelus in your videos, i used to listen to his music back in 2009 so glad to see him again, being the brilliant musician he always has been. Very nice video, very nice music as always, thanks for the show!
For me that Daedelus track was far more interesting than any of the others because it felt like it was coherent, rather than having every effect under the sun thrown randomly at it. Stunning use of the low end, and a huge sound from a small instrument (as Ben put it). Andrew Huang is great at what he does, but his track here felt to me like an exercise in how many effects you could use, at the expense of musicality.
Glad to see Sarah is still going hard. I won't disclose too much information out of respect for her but let's just say I spent some time as a vocalist with a band from Virginia where Sarah is actually from. Anyways, we ran out of gas and actually ended up stranded outside of a random house. Well nonetheless, we knock on the door and it was Sarah Longfield's home! I had no idea at the time who she was or anything but I had a pretty good idea of her career path once we entered her home and saw music gear literally EVERYWHERE! Thank you Sarah for being such a genuine human being and so very talented!
These tracks are stunning and packed with inspiration and emotion! It's just damn good music.
Respect to you as Well.
Ben! Was that first little guitar a churango? I'm now on the hunt for one so I can slow it down

I’m so psyched Daedalus is here. He really took sampling to a place that I don’t remember ever seeing on this show. Awesome job.
Chuck Sutton did a pretty job too :) Daedelus' tune was absolutely stunning. I would like to see Nosaj Thing as well here.
This track I easily see as a soundtrack on a movie or series, the final part fits perfect in a black panther movie, hauhaua.

Okay WangleLine's track is bananas in the best way possible.
