What a cool coincidence, i was literally yesterday thinking of upgrading my base to "sky tower" where I built really long ladder with vertical connectors to sky to finally built there an observatory. And today when I finished it this video shown up, for what I appreciate that this game is still alive. Beautiful video aswell, keep going my man and grow up faster (faster than that base!). Edit: Also I have a tip for everyone who wants to build such a base in sky on survival in very fast way - instead of making "stairs" of compartments, it is better to make first 'elevator' like building with compartments (doesnt matter which, but i rather I, it is surely better) and after adding one compartment, on the second floor just above it turn it around 90 degree and built inside a ladder, then add hatch inside upper compartment and exit on the outside. Then you just add next two compartments (one turned same as first and second 90 degree) and add ladders. Continue it to the point where you want to end and carefully from up, exiting the hatch remove one compartment and change it into vertical connector. Sadly you can replace only one compartment with connector so you need to repeatedly continue doing this with only replacing comp. into connect. After removing everything and leaving only connectors, set ladder on first floor and it automatically make pass to the highest point within seconds. Hope it helped someone sorry if u cant read it, i was tired while writin it 💀
I used a method where I placed two I-compartments in a line, put like 2 or 3 vertical connectors on top of one while standing on the other, replaced the first compartment with a connector, then put another compartment on top of the connectors and put a hatch in the front. Then I'd jump and get in the hatch, deconstruct the hatch, put another one in the ceiling and exit it, then build another compartment off the front of that one, deconstruct the hatch and repeat the whole process. The description makes it seem really long but once you get the hang of it you can actually go pretty quickly, I was able to reach 1 km within a reasonable amount of time.

I tried doing this with the multipurpose rooms but gave up because of the lag. I just used the corridor with a top hatch to work my way up. Kind of wanted to see you jump from the top to see how long it would take to hit the water ^^"
Yeah I also tried building with multipurpose rooms, I got to around 850 m before the lag just got insane and I cut it down to 500 then built a base on top.
....BACON. BUDDY. How do you have the patience for this stuff? XD Like the longest base that went through all the biomes actually had thought and planning and strategy and you got to see all the wonderful biomes and all that, I can imagine there was still something fun about it. But just sitting there placing vertical connectors for Sea Emperor knows how long, had to be mind numbing @w@ As a side, have you considered the use of a timer to give us a sense of how actually long the builds took (As well as the sheer comedy of timing the exact level of lag between clicking to place a base piece and it deciding to actually exist?)
Based on the ending cutscene, 4546B's circumference based on the size of the Aurora has been calculated to be roughly 92-100km (10x smaller than the Moon). Knowing that the Aurora itself is 1,200m puts the player well above the cloud layer into space, but still a significant distance than the Neptune Rocket's orbit altitude. If we were to go off of the distance between the Aurora and the islands (significantly further apart in the cutscene than the actual map) then 8km would easily be at or further than the Neptune's altitude in the cutscene.
wow i never knew that you would get teleported even if you go in the sky i only knew about the bottom of the void and the edges of the map cool discovery!! also if you could go to alterra i can't imagine alterra's face when a random base compartment pops into there space station i would be so confused

i've only just realized that the lag that bacon gets whenever he builds these big structures is from the fact that the game has a structure stability system. i think the problem is that when you create a new piece, the game updates all the other connected pieces with the existence of that new piece, so when you have a big connected line of pieces, the game updates all the pieces at once and creates a massive lag spike
lol how did I miss this two months ago? im not very good at coding by any means, but i might have an explanation for the biome thing. you see how the biome squares stretch along the x-axis(side to side) and not the y axis(up and down)? when you go across the squares, each square has a biome assigned to it. you never crossed into a new square, so the biome didnt change. on the other challenge, you were commonly changing squares, so they mightve been assigned a random value if you were too far out (idk that part is confusing to me). anyways hope this kinda makes sense
