I didn't actually know about the printbiome command or the different "zones" of the void, very interesting. How many hours did it take to build all the way out?
I built a 1000 metres deep void base in my main play through, I had to farm SO much for the resources to make it and had to make super quick dashes downwards just to build 2 vertical connectors. It took many hours but eventually I constructed what I called the “Void Research Institute” which I filled with the non-functional research equipment and some observatories. I also made a scanner room which I used the cameras to follow the ghost leviathans and watch how they behaved. It was a massive success, and was worth the trouble
This is super interesting, I remember before the update I decided to seaglide out to the teleport point but actually had different results. After the 1000 or whatever it is where the void ends, i was just in neutral seas where i just kept going all the way out to 8192. But I never got teleported back, in fact I could keep going past the 'limit', where the only change was that my movement became ridiculously slow. I had the coordinates up the whole time and I was just moving at an absolute snails pace, but never got teleported back. I was able to go a good chunk of distance over what should be the end, just progress was pain lol. I turned around and was super slow until back within the limit where i was able to just move normally. It was a while back so I don't remember what it listed for the biome past the void, but once it changed to that it never changed again that i noticed. Very strange stuff. The reason the Leviathans retreat is because the end of the map region is their spawn zone at the bottom of the map, once you pass that end map point your out of their spawn zone.
It is amazing how despite this game being datamined to hell, despite pretty much every possible secret being discovered, despite the thousands of hours of content online going over every single nook and cranny this game has to offer, when I see the void I still half expect something truly more terrifying than the ghosts to come out.
i dont understand bacon hes the most incredible hardworking subnautica youtubers who works so hard to make good content and it is amazing good job bacon
You can build a base spaning from the bottom corner of the map to the other side of the map (diagonally) and also on the top of the map. The result is a 27km long/high base
The "confusion zone" is actually just the biome map not being endless. The biome map loops back over again, so basically its like teleporting you to the opposite side of the void, except not actually.
Man even in creative it’s still super unnerving to swim out in the void, as long as you have headphones on and you’re immersed, it’ll send chills up your spine, come ooooonnn Subnautica 3 lol
When you go beyond 8192 depth (same is true if you fly vertically up beyond 8192, or 8192 m towards East, West, North, or South in a straight line from the center of the map), you get teleported back to coordinate 0,0,0 on the map, which is basically in the shallows. The reason is simple: Imagine the entire map is a huge cube with six faces, and each face (a face is basically a square) is of length 16384 and width 16384 (16384 is twice 8192). 0,0,0 is the coordinate that represents the exact center of the cube, and this is where you always get teleported back to. This is basically engine limitation I suppose, so the game resorts to teleporting you back rather than crashing! Take for example the square which represents the water surface (basically eliminating the z axis), so when you stand at point 0,0 (exact center), moving East, West, North, or South, the distance is exactly 8192 as stated above, but if you want to move towards the North East, North West, South East, or South West, you exceed 11585 (refer to the formula for calculating hypotenuse), and the distance keeps hovering between 8192 and 11585 based on the angle (from 0 to 360) of the straight line you choose to take from the center. Lucky for you, the game only enables structures to be constructed at 90-degree angle, so you always expand vertically, or towards East, West, North, or South, and no other angles could be constructed, unless it is a hatch from a Multipurpose room!
The fact that theres still technically stuff beyond the teleporting barrier is both horrifying and interesting to me. I used to be scared of minecraft void, and then i got over that fear, but it soon got replaced with the fear of the subnautica void... And probably the fear of things that are beyond our comprehension in general, like infinite spaces or places that are infinitely far away. While im trying my best to achieve a way of comprehending stuff that is usually beyond normal persons comprehension, theres still things that just make my brain commit bsod
The reason the confusion zone exists is because it is where the map data for where the biomes are is located. You are basically swimming through the map twice but the second time is invisible and intangible
I've done some testing for my own build for this and have come to find out that the "Zones" of the void are different based on which side of the map you are on, for example: on the crash zone side of the map, the void starts with the "confusion zone"
I'm pretty sure its possible to put foundations on the top of the void to get a start, idk for sure but its on one of my old save files, just a foundation on top of the ocean, holding a rocket for some reason, like 3000 meters from the nearest land, and i don't remember building it at all.

Totally agree :)
I had checked a few days ago and was sad to see no new videos, but im happy now :)
Yay :D
Your talent for subnautica vids Is insane! love all of em! Love the vid and keep up the amazing work!
Thank you kindly!! :)
Good explanation :) Though there are other base pieces that can be built on any angle as long as they’re the first piece.
I wanted to do this myself for sooo long but, you know, didn't want to waste the time! Now I'm wasting my time watching it =)
Perfect haha :D
The fact that theres still technically stuff beyond the teleporting barrier is both horrifying and interesting to me. I used to be scared of minecraft void, and then i got over that fear, but it soon got replaced with the fear of the subnautica void... And probably the fear of things that are beyond our comprehension in general, like infinite spaces or places that are infinitely far away. While im trying my best to achieve a way of comprehending stuff that is usually beyond normal persons comprehension, theres still things that just make my brain commit bsod
Yeah there is something strangely liminal about the endless open ocean :)
Respect that you respond to every comment! I like the Stanley Parable OST as background, it fits well. (Amazing game too btw.)
Thank you :) And totally agree!
I'm so ready for Subnautica 3 or Return of the Ancients, whatever comes out first. I want to have a new feeling of playing Subnautica again.
Same!! :)
The one thing I love about Subnautica is that there's no need for a foundation for your base
True! :)
Me: *calmly drinking my tea and relaxing*
1:51 "So i heard you like jumpscares"
Hahaha :D
This is me in every creative world
Lol nice :)
Never stop Bacon! I love the Subnautica content
Thank you kindly :)
Legit.. if there’s not a character called Bacon in subnautica 3 I won’t be happy, keep it up bro 👏😎
Haha I hope there is a poster at least :)
1:36 It's a very nice location, I have to say.
Right? :D
The reason the confusion zone exists is because it is where the map data for where the biomes are is located. You are basically swimming through the map twice but the second time is invisible and intangible
Huh why would it work that way? :)
My baby bacon boy, you do not have to put yourself through this torture to entertain us, you do enough great work as it is.
Thank you kindly :) But I was also just really curious about trying this.
I've done some testing for my own build for this and have come to find out that the "Zones" of the void are different based on which side of the map you are on, for example: on the crash zone side of the map, the void starts with the "confusion zone"
Oh that’s really exciting :)
Do the fly glitch with the propulsion cannon while on the base and see what happens XD.
Lol don’t think it would do much :)
2:19 Gonna need Hadopelagic Pressure for this part of the video.
What's that? :)
You keep blowing my mind, absolute legendary 🫡
Yay thank you! :)
I love how you try to reply to every comment, And that is pure dedication
Thank you kindly :)
recently i got very big hype on subnautica so thank you. keep up good work 😀
Yay thank you! :)
I'm pretty sure its possible to put foundations on the top of the void to get a start, idk for sure but its on one of my old save files, just a foundation on top of the ocean, holding a rocket for some reason, like 3000 meters from the nearest land, and i don't remember building it at all.
Huh maybe in some places yeah! :) I was having trouble building anything there....
1:51 why did this jumpscare me so hard lol
Haha sorry! :)
7:00 Because I'm from Mexico I didn't understand the phrase at that moment until after that I started to feel nauseous anyway great video
PD: I feel better :)
Glad you feel better! :)
This is just a game, I'm not even playing it, and you have god mode on, and I still had a mild panic attack when you were out in the middle of the ocean.
Why am I like this? 😂
Haha I totally understand :)
this is the best and worst video you have ever made!
I love it!
worst idea, best video
(not literally the best video you have ever made, just the best recently in my opinion)
Haha it is definitely the video I ever made :)
@@TheLastBacon I screamed when you commented, you just made my day better, tenfold
i'm a huge fan, been watching for 3 years
"another questionable video" this is just your slogan at this point, you never dissapoint.
You’re not wrong haha :)
Random Person: I wonder if we can do *insane thing*!
Bacon: LETS TRY IT *IMMEDIATELY*
Basically hahaha :D
What if you build to the sky limit in Subnautica? you already went horizontally, and used the terraformer to go down, the last piece is to ascend up.
Sounds like a fun time ;)
Then you get shot by the planet defense
THAT FAST WALK IN CORRIDOR GAVE ME A WEIRD OPTICAL ILLUSION WHEN I LOOKED AWAY HAHAHA
Lol nice :)
the mask texture was braking at 5:27 because you entered what I call the Null zone. The null zone shows up in all games if you go very, very far out of bounds. If you play roblox you probably had a game where it accidentally launched you into the Null zone.
Makes sense yeah :)
2:25 That's a neat command.
It is indeed :)
😄gonna redownload subnautica, thanks for always making videos on it💜
Yay enjoy :)
Riley never skipped leg day, that's how he's so good at swimming and running, well I guess when all you do is swimming everyday is leg day XD
Haha definitely :)
my man should not watch the end I got a seizuer from that sprinting
Oof hence the warning :)
@@TheLastBacon I wanted to feel it again
