Wow, what a blessing to find this video! I have a 2015 x5 with that same noise.

My e46 2.5 had been doing this intermittently for about 10k. Just done the spring. Much peace of mind
The rattle of tensioner chain is continued but the rattle of the vanos is so diference when you accelerate is sound but sometimes not is sounding all the time but thanks is so good the video and thank you for the video
Can we replace timing chain tensioner on M57 diesel engine like that?
I have a 2013 X5 M class with the same noise. a little louder though. I cant find the tensioner ?? any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Where to find this spring only? What is the part number for n57? I've browsed around, nothing.
thanks...
Omg what’s the part number for the spring ?
If you drive it like this will it go bang
Hi there. I have this noise then when engine has warmed up it goes away. Is it the tensioner?
Yeah, the spring is there to keep it under tension until the oil pressure gets up. It compressed over time. I used a genuine spring & washer and it cost £18 and took 30mins.
It’s easier if you take the water bottle out (on my e46 anyway)
Right after starting up the car theres a rattle that goes away after a few seconds. (in the video)
Is that that vanos rattle?
no
@@highmilesgarage9131 what is it?
@@norbertrabi8408 it could be the tensioner and/or the type of oil you use. It should go away once oil pressure builds up.
@@highmilesgarage9131 thank you very much
What is the part number of the spring?
Real oem ..check there all
what mileage does your car have?
158k miles
No one bother to post where to buy the spring or part number to order It ?
Is there only one or two ?
only one
Thank you just ordered mine 🤙🏻
Where do i can buy that spring? Thanks
You can buying it from eBay or from som site of parts of cars but look the original one

I did change it and still have the sound
probably too late for the fix.
@@highmilesgarage9131 the car works very fine, just the ticking is there....
@@Alberto.en.Tenerife its not fine if it's ticking..
@@highmilesgarage9131 what can cause that ticking? In past it was stopping if i rev it high, now not
@@Alberto.en.Tenerife you have to figure out the source of the tick, it could be not from your timing chain components. If you think it's near the timing chain area, it could be insufficient oil pressure, worn chain guides or stretched chain.
