Lacking such a review I quit buying Magnat here in Turkey and got myself a Kef R3. In the other hand, after watchin you on RUclips, magnat is on my list of future purchases. Thanks for your efforts for us “poor audiophiles”.

    Sadly, I don't have the room for these, but I'd don't care....I still LOVE THEM! I hope they sell a million of them.

    Ok…so I’ve had these for a few days and everything Andrew says is true. I literally can’t wait to blast music on these things in my listening room. Whatever amp you throw at them sounds phenomenal. Willsenton R8, Emotiva a300, 2 Schiit Aegirs in monoblock off a Freya+ preamp, even my little Decware zen triode sounds gorgeous on these things. They are gigantic and the bass response is just chest thumping without being boomy. My cherished Klipsch KLF20’s have been neglected since I got these and I ADORE my KLF20’s. Just a shit eating grin on my face as I blast every genre of music on these behemoths. Thank you for the recommendation Mr Robinson!!

    I watched your review a while ago and have been thinking about them during the past few months. I already have the Klipsch RP8000Fs and just love them. However, I was attracted to these speakers because they remind me of a pair of Pioneer CS63DX speakers I owned in the late 1960s. I loved those speakers. Those had 15 inch woofers as well but were sealed and didn't have enough cabinet depth for bass to match the size.
    I ordered a pair of the Magnats a week and a half ago and received them two days ago. I just love these speakers. They go deeper than the RP8000Fs but still retain full and clear sound in the midrange and treble.
    I was worried about the packaging based on your comments but they came double boxed with no shipping damage. Somebody must have been listening.
    Thanks for turning me onto these speakers. I'm having a great time listening to them right now.

      How does the Magnats sound compared to the 8000’s other than the deep bass? Which one you prefer better with music?

    • @agustinduenas5902
      @agustinduenas5902 2 года назад +2

      @@mazag13ggd I enjoy both, but they are slightly different. The 8000Fs seem slightly clearer in the midrange and treble and soundstage better, but both integrate the bass, midrange and treble extremely well. However, the Magnats just have that big speaker sound that I don't have with any of my other speakers.
      I often play Chocolate Chip Trip by Tool to determine extent of soundstage. The 8000Fs definitely reach further to each side. Center image is locked in on both. I'm enjoying both, each set in a separate music listening room.
      The Klipsch is now priced much higher. I actually have two pairs of 8000Fs, which I bought months ago for $517 (25% off at the time) each from Crutchfield. I use the second pair of Klipschs in a 7.1 home theater setup and the first one for music listening exclusively. The Magnats are still at $1,000 for the pair. A great bargain at that price.

      Thank you so much for your comments and review. I am currently debating between these two (RP-8000F vs Transpuls 1500) to replace my 20 year old Bose Acoustimass. I am FINALLY using a Klipsch 12"sub to augment the low end. So, if I may ask your opinion, since I will be using said sub along with my new purchase (eventually), which would you recommend? And do you make that same recommendation given the $600 price difference (value vs performance)?
      These tired old Bose do not have any liveliness to them; they do not sound bad, but they definitely do not present a live sound stage.
      Also, considering size: how much different are their dimensions? I recognize that the Magnats are wider and the Klipsch are deeper, but overall, how do they present themselves visually, and how "invasive" are they to the room?
      Definitely looking forward to your insight. Thanks and God bless.

    • @shanecabbage2187
      @shanecabbage2187 2 года назад

      Well, Agustin, I guess I really do not need your answer anymore; I just purchased the RPs in piano for a price I could not pass up (~ same as the Magnats) with a much classier presentation, at least for my application.

    I bought a pair of these Transpuls 1500s in Australia in April 2020, when the Government gave everyone a "one-off" stimulus cheque of $750 - as a result of the outbreak of the pandemic. I have a large room that's heavily damped, (i.e. without room treatments) making it quite difficult to pressurize sufficiently. The Magnats sensitivity and size were an instant draw card for me, because my previous speakers couldn't cut it, even with a 290W per channel (into 6 ohms) Yamaha M-80 power amplifier in my system. Let me be clear - these are a 4 ohm speaker, so you'll need an amplifier that can handle a 4 ohm load, but because their sensitivity is relatively high, you won't need to push it as hard as you might with other speakers. Although they're claimed to be a front ported bass reflex cabinet - the back of the ports are actually plugged with a foam material. Technically they are therefore an acoustic suspension enclosure, which means that the bass is tighter, but doesn't go anywhere near as low as the 16 hertz that Magnat claims in their specifications. I use two "servo" subwoofers to augment the bass, even though my speakers are right up against the wall. In addition, these speakers are far from being neutral. Kristi was right about the "suck out" in those frequencies necessary for hearing dialogue clearly, but the Transpuls 1500s can be easily made to sound however you like - with "Dirac Live" Room Correction. Are they a baby Cornwall for budget enthusiasts? Yes ....... definitely, having lived with them for eighteen months now, I think they'll suit the "budget-conscious" buyer, who'd prefer not to fork out their life savings on the Klipsch.

    3 month update. I replaced audiolab 6000 Play with used Yamaha AVR RX-V767 (bought it for $100) and my setup is pure bliss now. It seems that i prefer the "Yamaha sound" as Andrew and Kristi mentioned that Yamaha has specific audio signature. Audiolab is great but i vastly prefered songs i played on my second setup in living room that was powered with Yamaha AVR, so i decided to try out Magnat's with Yamaha AMP and boy was i right, much much more enjoyable setup for my music taste (mostly electronic music).

    Ive been on a quest for years now to see how full range of a speaker you can get for the dollar. Being a big bass head. I really enjoy the really low frequencies. Most speakers struggle with this. Resulting in the need of separate subwoofers. If this speaker can actually go all the way down to 16hz and actually pump it out into your room. These very well may be the speakers that I have been looking for. I dont think you can find another set of speakers that can do bass like they can for the money. As for the cabinet vibration. They make this stuff called no res that you can line the inside of the cabinets with to help calm vibrations down.

      @Amnesio I currently have 820 + SVS PB2000 Pro. When i get 1500-s i will be able to tell you more what "sounds better". What i heard of RP-8000F is they are head and shoulders above R-820F, and if Andrew in comparison says that Magnat are better than RP-8000F i expect significant jump comming from R-820F

    • @goran.radulovic
      @goran.radulovic 2 года назад

      @Amnesio I just received them and been breaking them in last 48 hours. They sound fantastic, Bass is unreal, far far better than R-820F, deep and confident. Midtones to my taste better than Klipsch. I struggled a bit with R-820F to understand the words, Magnat voice is very cleanly defined and understandable. I paired Magnats with the AudioLab 6000 Play. Match made in heaven, except in higher volumes (last 20db) when everything loses composure and starts sounding mushy. Not sure why i am experiencing this, is it room acoustics, amplifier working near it's maximum, or combination of both. That beeing said, i would never go that high for everyday listening. For parties i suppose much stronger amplifier would be needed.
      To summarize, far best speakers i bought ever. Not regreting a thing by buying them.

    McIntosh SS amplification loves the Magnat 1500 Transpuls, I love the speaker recipe of the 1500, the physics & fluid dynamics of this type of speaker design is the template for my end game sound. I love that no compromise, shut the hell up wifey, this is what the shape and size of superior Hi-Fi speakers is suppose to be. Stacking smaller drivers up a tower type design is physics gimmicks for aesthetic considerations to me. 15-inch paper woofers for the win! These speakers benefit with puck type speaker isolation and Dynamat wrap on the midrange driver! Mr. Robinson nailed this review. 👍

No need for a subwoofer with these as their 15" cones absolutely bring the bass. No matter if it is total garbage, no matter if it costs 200 bucks or 200 grands. Sharp and fatiguing is translated as exciting, dull and dry as linear, boomy or bloated or veiled as warm and musical... So the conclusion is: Take as much money you have or want to spend and buy every speaker you find anywhere, because every speaker is amazing. 😅👍

    Hi Andrew and Kristi, big fan of your channel. I wasn’t planning on buying anything new, since I was on a budget. Until I saw this review. I’m breaking them in as we speak with my decware zen torii mk iv.
    If the mids and highs open up a bit more I’m sold. And they have already improved greatly since the first record. Compared to my tannoy xt-f8’s they lack a little brightness, but they only have 8 inch drivers, so it could be that the excessive brightness was due to lack of bass. Anyway, even with a little less of mid and high the magnat sounds so physical, especially with the tubes.
    I don’t know what a high end speaker is supposed to do exactly, but these baby’s really draw you into the music and this is after ~20 hours break in!
    Haven’t heard a klipsch cornwall, but if they a little more mid and high, and imaging and detail, then this is definitely the budget version of that.
    Thanks and regards from the Netherlands,
    Gijs

    In the EU they cost 500-600 € (inc tax).
    At that price they are like puppies begging you "take me with you". You must accept it's a very vintage speaker and don't fuss over its tripups.
    The FR goes all over the place, but can be EQd easily (the best way to enjoy these is with EQ). The woofer can go down deep (but is "slow": no snappy percussive sounds here) The treble is beamy, and I don't get why they didn't place the "horn" driver horizontally to broaden the listening window. Maybe because they put out quite a bit of treble energy and they can be "toed out" to taste. It could have been solved KLH style (attenuator switch) vintage style. But those details would raise the price, deliberately kept low.
    I know that my 7 yr old future audiophile grandkids are in awe of these monsters. In actual fact they can perform very well at "normal" levels. You don't need a huge venue.
    The fun factor is guaranteed, (even more so at the European price). Forget about all the "wussy" refinement developed over the last half century and that current small boxes deliver in spades (at a price). If you get into the spirit of the times (and of course I know the sound, because I was "there") and enjoy them for what they are they can be a real blast. They will never pass unnoticed. Both kids and aging boomers will love them, but, what the heck, so do you two. Cheers to you both!

    OK. for under $1000 per pair of such speakers is amazing, but let's address the gorilla in the room: Cabinet resonance. How bad was it? What frequencies? Did it color the sound badly and if so was it only noticeable at maybe crazy volumes above 85 - 90 dB? In other words, would I still be better off with KLH Model 5 or Wharfedale Lintons? Thanks!
