For real these are two of the coolest fighters I’ve seen. Both seem so genuine and just fighting for fun. Some people look angry and want to hurt people these guys look like they’re having fun and being so technical
Such a shitty call, only reason I could think of was to keep the action going for entertainment’s sake as it started to get a little “stalemate-y” at the end with a bunch of uneventful hand fighting with no real attack. I agree that probably would have been the end of the fight had it continued
How could anyone not like Mikey. He is the most lovable martial artist I've ever seen. And the way he stood up to that bully after that match a couple years ago made me a fan for life. Dude is legit and one of the nicest a d most kind people you will ever seen in a cage or ring.
Because he butt scoots and pulls guard immediately every. Single. Match. Its so boring. He does everything right but so does Gordon Ryan and he's so much more entertaining to watch.
Lol he’s so nerdy, awkward and geeky socially speaking but when he gets to work he’s a literal anaconda. Guys, they're grappling in a controlled environment. Lots of average dudes at the bar would spark either of these kids unconscious in an actual parking lot/bar brawl. Trust me.
@@rickstark85 I don’t agree that an average guy at a bar, one on one, would have a chance against either of these guys. Absent the “average guy” being someone much larger or someone who has trained.
@fsu88me you don't have to agree. I fought MMA professionally. I've trained Jiu-jitsu off and on for over 15 years. And I also grew up fighting. I know exactly what I'm talking about. Laying on your back in a parking lot doesn't work. I can tell you don't have much real world experience in actual street fights. It's an entirely different world. Yes, Jiu-jitsu can be helpful, but you need to apply it differently, and you can't do that if you haven't experienced it. I'm sorry, but I promise you're wrong. And fyi, I went out when I was younger with a bunch of teammates and have seen high level grapplers be of absolutely no use in a real brawl.
Absolutely brilliant it's like watching a genius at work.mikey constantly thinking about positioning and attacking that's why he is so hard defend against. Could watch his fights all day.
Same thing I was thinking but what I think happend was that when the ref moved them I guess brooks kinda just wasn’t paying attention and once the ref let go Mikey took advantage of that split second he got the armbar fast once they repositioned on the armlock he had already going before the ref moved them
@boyce5994 well if you get yourself so deep in a triangle/armbar submission that your defense relies on the ropes and nearly pushing your opponent off the platform, then you lose. So no, the ref did not "cause the finish" The ref prioritized safety and took away the crutch that was saving Brooks.
Mikey seems so nice, smiles, hugs, handshakes. Watching his face though, it's like a light switch to no emotion at all. In a bar, I'd never turn my back or let a guy like that out of sight or get in arms reach.
I like the way they treat each other with respect. Two guys that look like if a regular citizen was in trouble, they would be right there to help them.
Both did great but to me personally the movement on the ref to bring them more back in the mat solidified the submission. That slight angle in the move gave the win. Both badass and great work
I don't know the rules, but from what I could tell, Brooke's hand/wrist were being supported by the bottom rope in such a way that his arm couldn't be straightened out. As soon as they were moved the arm was no longer supported and was able to be straightened. Do the rules allow you to use the ropes like that?

It's worth mentioning that Brooks was constantly on the back foot, finding himself giving away his back, being inside the closed guard and mounted, so he was never close to winning. 'Meci was a class apart. Also, interesting decision from the ref to break up the fight when 'Meci had Brooks' back. Not enough time lapsed to call lack of action imo. But didn't matter in the end.
