I really enjoyed your review. I’m a paratrooper from an earlier generation. I purchased my first watch, a Timex manual wound from the PX for about $10. My current Casio watches include the DW-5600, DW-290, and the AE-1200WH. They are absolutely rugged and reliable.
@@DivingIntoWatches-jb5ri yes I have a few years on you lol! I have some pictures of me wearing the watch while deployed overseas. I wish I still had that watch.
Wore the same one in the war and for years after until the strap rotted off my wrist. I think i wore a timex or casio my entire time. They were just tools to me and at the time i tossed them when they broke. Now i regret that decision. However i wasnt going to hump any extra weight. It wasnt until years later i got into automatics and now exclusively wear them. Thanks for your channel. Like you, my watches are based on military culture and our tastes are in alignment.
Cool watch. Just received the GW 6900 a couple of days ago with multi band and solar and i’m really enjoying it. Not owned a G Shock with this case shape before.
Mostly the citizen eco drive sport casual. It’s pretty much a field watch with a day date complication. It’s 37 mm so I like the size and I can grab it and go. And I put on a canvas Barton strap, I think it’s more comfortable for the hot days. I’ll switch to my gw-6900 now and then too for the rainy sloppy days.
One of my first early military watch’s is a citizen chrono orange dial I picked up in 2000 and still have it. Great watches. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Well, it is embarrassing.. I served, for 3 years, in a special investigations unit, and we were on civilians clothes. (Now-Please remember I joined the army age 18🙏🏻),my watch at the time was a Camel Trophy kind of field watch, and I actually thought it was cool🫣… yet it fitted my style, and the job, back than. I truly regret not keeping it, now, many years later, after I started a collection.
@@bmike679 I don’t have a definite answer, but I think it might come down cost. Solar being a little more in parts. And Pennie’s add up when it comes in buying in the 1000’s. That’s my only thought on why. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have a Willard and it’s a great watch for the sure. The not sure. Move watch can be a soldiers watch from a fictional soldier lol. The turtle didn’t come out till after Vietnam, but was definitely wore later by the services. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Casio f-91w or one of it's variants is what i mostly see on soldiers wrists it's pretty much the only timepiece our UK equivalent of the PX store sells . Always been a G-Shock for me when on exercise or in the field and an skx for other duties.
Gshock OG watch for sure. A must have for any collection. Very cool, great review.
Thanks for watching!
