I imagine Miku saying, " Pigeons fly Po, we don't ride on cars ! "... Akane said " Drumming on top of a moving car ?... Okay, sounds like fun ! "... Misa thought they said " Moving Bar ", so she said " I can't wait ! "...They put Kanami's guitar on top of the car...she just followed it ! Finally...Saiki said " F**k you, I'm riding IN the car ! "...I think it went kinda sorta like that...🤔😲🚗❤
Frank you never fail 😄😂👍🍻🥃
@@brunobryant4846 Ah, Mr Bundaberg... Your laughter and " High-fiving " keeps me shoveling the sh** ! Please take note of the Dragon Cries thread in this post...It was my attempt to tap dance around controversy . 🤪😆
Miku would fall off and break several bones if they put her on a car -- way too risky. Miku has enough bruises already.
Kanami would get on the car and play if told it would impress Saiki. After all, she learned guitar to impress the other girls at her high school.
And the girls were actually standing there when the explosion went off too, no special effects here. These girls are real troopers when it comes to music videos. They're either freezing, fighting fire, boiling hot, wet or being blown up.....or all of the above.
Saiki said only the princess gets to ride in the car, the Maids have to travel on top of them :)
I'd ride on top with Mincho just to comfort her ;) .
Pigeons fly, so no need for cars, Po!
@@bandmaidfanATL Lol. Exactly.😁
They say the only thing that could put out the fire from the video was the stare from our Ice Queen.
@@Parker-- or her stare will steal your heart and soul.... like those glances at the camera during the Choose Me MV
Kanami is afraid of heights. Caption the scene of her strapped to the top of a moving car :p .
Mincho got dizzy when she broke her personal best school high jump record of 1ft 2in....probably.😏
@@GaryHolloway-810 Yes, but lord can that woman murder a PRS! It's clear what we're hearing are that thing's death screams as she strangles it like a madwoman.
I can’t imagine what Saiki had to promise her to get her on top of that car.
@@powbobs That would explain it, yep :)
@@mikeholmes5308 Lol. Yeah MISA showed her that killer move :)
The intro with the music box is a call back to how the band starts their concerts. They call it the Maid Waltz. It starts playing, it lets the audience know that it’s time for awesomeness. Having it for Warning is also amazing as it is the first track on the album it’s on, Unseen World.
Favorite part of the video is during the explosion Mark chuckles and mouths "oh... okay"
Worth it.
Stunt Maids get paid in Coffee, Bananas and Whiskey.
A strawberry for Miku shooting the stunt scene from the above, and a beer for Sai-chan restraining herself from driving the stunt car...shirankedoh😏
2:55 Variation on Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy - Tchaikovsky. Mincho does this alot.
Yup, the Maid’s Waltz, she wrote different variations to open shows.
The headcam view of Akane's drumming in this song on Band Maid Prime is mesmerizing.
Band Maid could easily be the Queens of action movie soundtracks
You should know by now - most BM songs require 47 listens to even begin to grasp what is going on. 😀
On the second listen, maybe focus on Miku's vocals throughout, especially the harmonies which aren't as obviously a catchy countermelody as was already noticed. Beautiful. Respect. Then 5 more listens -- one per Maid (Miku gets another for guitar). Repeat for each combination of 2 Maids complimenting each other. Oops that 's already 66 more
They played Warning during the spring last year in the US. It really is a balls to the wall track. Plus they sometimes leave cable boxes on the edge of the stage for Kanami to jump up on, which is great because she can be hard to see when she's back behind the pedal board. She's actually quite tiny.
@6:40 "It's two different moods, really, it depends on what kind of mood you're in what Band-Maid song you're gonna like at a particular moment in time." Yes. Precisely this. And Band-Maid can put you _into_ that mood, even if you didn't start there. They released three OMVs for "Unseen World" in three consecutive weeks. *"Warning!"* was the first one. They must have spent 90% of their budget on cars and pyrotechnics. The second was *"Manners."* I know you've already listened to "Manners" but the music video is pretty good too. It was staged in a mansion in the Yamanashi Prefecture at the base of Fujiyama. The last OMV for *"After Life"* was made in a hallway and somebody sprang for a railroad flare. They did hire some dance maids, though. It's a rockin' punk song, with Miku screaming "DON'T SAY YOU LOVE MEEEE!!!!!"
When you listed three general types of Band-Maid songs it occurred to me that you haven't heard "Smile" trilogy yet: *"Smile," "About Us,"* and *"Memorable."* These songs are written for their fans. There's an album version of "Smile" but listen to one from a covid-era live stream (it might be available on Prime, but there's a low-res version on the nishi yuki channel). There are official versions of "About Us" and "Memorable" on the Band-Maid channel.
Which category of Band-Maid song I like really depends on the mood I'm in, but when I am feeling like a freight-train song, Warning is a fantastic one to start with 😄 also 'I came here to be me' is a very simple line that really resonates with me emotionally.
When I experienced this song live in concert, I noticed that Akane was not smiling (so unusual) as she was concentrating hard on what she was playing.
More explosive, full-throttle, bangers from the world's best hard rock band - Band-Maid. 😆🤘Thx, Mark!
Warning's a pretty good representative for the Unseen World album (which it's the first track on). There are two slower songs on the album, but the rest of the time, Akane's on a rampage (and so is everyone else, but Akane's drumming in particular is blistering).
My least favorite album.
My most favorite album.
Fucking love this. I think this was the third Band-Maid song I ever heard, and totally sealed the deal for me. So much up my street it's scary. Absolutely relentless riff + drums assault, paired with beautiful, layered vocal melodies and a needlessly huge explosion.
The freight train is my favourite of your three categories. I think of these as their 'running down a hill too fast' songs. If you stop or slow down, you'll break your ankles and/or spine, so you've no choice but to just surrender to the momentum and control it as best you can.
Can't get the picture of Kanami shredding on top of a burning car out of my mind. What a great shot. Warning is fire!
Straight banger live
これぞ世界最強のhard rock band、素晴らしいです。
“Warning!” is one of my favorite BAND-MAID songs. On the regular version of the album “Unseen World”, it’s the opening song. My favorite part is the trade vocals between Saiki and Miku at the beginning of the song 2:08. Also, “Warning!” has one of Akane’s longest drum fill of the album 8:31. The other one is on the last song of the album “Black Hole”
THIS is the song that made them my favorite band when I heard it. Akane’s drumming on this is one of my favorite things ever. I haven’t even watched your reaction yet, and am already happy to see your guitar solo break.
As time has gone I find myself listening to the frenetic category of songs more with Screaming, Hibana, and Corallium my favorites. Well maybe it is debatable where Corallium belongs.
I like the freight trains...but you haven't heard the most freight-train of them all, which is 'Different'. If you do that one, do the MV also...and strap in
I thought it interesting how Kanami was mounted on top of a car, MISA on top of a truck with Akane in the open pick up, all moving about on a fairly uneven surface and seemingly happy about it. Saiki & Miku? Front end of MV teal filtered, back end orange filter because - well why not make us feel even happier & then BANG! Hope our girls were wearing ear protectors. Great video, not certain about the song because the video was too distracting. Love the iconic shot you chose for the thumbnail.
It's kind of weird to lump Blooming in with Daydreaming as ballad-y.
I love the little ah ah accents they threw in on this song. Miku adds a lot with her voice in general on this one.
You know I just throw words out there 😂
For a second I thought this was a crossover between BAND-MAID and The Warning. I don't think the universe is prepared for something like that, haha. XD
As for the song itself, it's super amazing. And I know I've mentioned this before, but their English is pretty good. =)
11:07 amazing badass shot
It was really cold during the shoot, and the maids said that they really enjoyed the explosion because it suddenly became nice and warm for a bit.
True story.
Akane was waaay back when the cars blew. She commented that she has had the pleasure of being blown up. And before that there was the shoot for "The Non-Fiction Days", when they accidentally set her on fire. Saiki noticed she was burning. Also a true story.
@@nomennescio4604
Mincho caught fire a bit on the Non-Fiction Days shoot also.
She put herself out.
the plus side of pausing during a solo is you get a freeze frame of Mincho mode.
Damn right lol
Yeah maybe in my top 40.Well done on 3000 subs.
Thank you!!
Try Awkward (live), enough room for all members...and Akasimahen in double reaction (no MV), same thing, but two worlds.
Japanese word of the day: Shinkansen
that was the word of the day Sai-chan gave us in LA at the echoplex on the 1st Oct 2019 can't for the life of me remember the word from the 30th Sep (same venue)
That 8:30 drum fill.
edit: It's not just cool because it's like 5 seconds long. It's cool because it's basically melodic, following Saiki's and Miku's voice lines.
at 7:45 you mentioned video games music.... interesting. :D
90s soundtracks, heck yeah, I agree! I mean it's quite obvious with your Mario merch behind you know whose Soundtracks. So Nintendo-own franchises are often funk/jazz. I mean, the well known Mario-Theme is based on an old VERY well known japanese song.
But as for Band-Maids music:
you said it would be something like off "Streets of Rage". Absolutely FANTASTIC soundtrack, yes! But I would say it would be something other bans remind me about - "Streets of Rage" (1st and 2nd) I think more of "Gacharic Spin" or even more so Sheena Ringo/"Tokyo Jihen" and some japanese City Pop. The 3rd SoR is more like a mix of harder Techno/Dance or ElectroPop/Europop stuff.
For Band-Maid however my mind goes always to two Soundtracks: Capcoms "MegaMan X" and "Street Fighter 2". My brain is instantly reminded of these ones.
Street Fighter II music is basically rock with metal elements, just sampled on the 16-bit hardware of that time :P Band-Maids faster songs are like "Ken Theme" or "Guile Theme". And we all know the later goes with everything :P especially the faster songs on B-Ms "World Domination" or "Just Bring it" albums. "Balrog" Theme would be something like B-Ms "FATE". "E.Honda" or "Chun-Li" themes -> Band-Maiko got that covered ;)
And "Megaman X" - besides it's rock/metal sound - has really good diverse writing. Sure there are great other Megaman OSTs, but "X" is my favorite out of them because the tracks are different but still don't sound out of place from each other. Most Megaman games were composed by 1 or 2 composers - "X" was unique as it was at least 5 or 6 different people, and you kinda hear it.
both SF2 and MMX tracks have one chugging rhythm guitar, sometimes there are 2 guitars doing the rhythm part, overlayed, and one very very clear lead guitar (that gives the main theme melody). The bass is very (!) prominent on both OSTs. And the drums are very punk beat - like "Tony Hawks" music done in 16-bit.
there are many "Metal" covers of both OSTs on the internet. Or for "Megaman X" there are "Sega Genesis" versions - the game was for SuperNES, but the Genesis/Mega Drive soundchip can make better guitar sounds so people rearanged it for SEGAs soundchip also
->
Band-Maid instrumentals or instrumental versions (like "YOLO" for example) instantly remind me of these classic Capcom OSTs :D
5 beautiful Japanese women in the middle of it while an American Cadi and a British Jaguar compete against each other before finally going up in smoke? 🤔 Must be a coincidence that these car brands were used in a Japanese MV. 😈... Anyway, I love this song and the MV for the fact alone that it shows Kanami in full 'Minchozilla' mode. 🔥🤘🏻 And don't ever tell Akane that she couldn't play any faster. She'll prove you wrong. 😂

「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? No one gets there._ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Warning' 🎶🕊
14:57 😂 That face of genuine confusion how they cranked the energy up even higher to the point you can do nothing but laugh and enjoy it.
16:04 He said the line!
Poor Kanami who doesn't like heights is asked to stand on top of a moving car and then go full on while it is stopped. All while the pyrotechnics explode around them. I love Rinne as it was one of the first songs that introduced me to the band. But Warning is right up there. Same positive vibe lyrically from 'what do you live for' in Rinne to 'You can't control me' in Warning. Not so much a slap around the face with a wet flannel but a quick panic drive to the shops for milk before the shops close. Breathless but happy you made the effort.
This along with Giovanni and After life are bangers
Listening to Band-Maid rules:
1. Listen to new songs at least 5 times and focus on one instrument each listen
2. Read lyrics on last listen
3. bow down in humble appreciation
4. All band-maid songs are EMO
Rule number 4 is an absolute ☺️
Too much fun, Mark! Sorry it triggered your lost car trauma! Yeah, not just zero resale value in those vehicles, but they clearly had to pay some folks a lot of money to haul away the smoking carcasses when they were done shooting. Did you notice one was a Cadillac, and one was a Jaguar? They didn't just flambe any two cars. In my version of the pitch session, it's just Kanami there with her eyes wide open with a thousand yard stare, relating her vision of car-chases and burning wreckage, while she gets to stand atop a smoking vehicle committing unholy mayhem on a guitar for which Paul Reed Smith probably took several days traipsing around an alpine forest in Italy looking for just the right tree to make said guitar.
There's something perfectly wrong with that woman.
Rock on, Mark! :)
Broken record time... Warning is my favorite Band-Maid song..... until the next one..... God I love these ladies.
WARNING will speed up your circulation. If only to make sure Kanami isn't injured. A top tier A+ song. Peace. 2.99
Cool explosion but that's gonna affect your trade in value mate
Honestly I feel like this one doesn't fall into the freight train category - they definitely have a bunch that are just non-stop speed and they lose a lot of dynamics (usually overcompressed production too which doesn't help) but I really like how they did this one. The verses kick in at full speed but then bits start to drop out until it almost stumbles into the chorus, then there's that little pause and suddenly it's an actual groove. And then it goes half time and slows down even more. There's a lot going on rhythmically, I like
They don't call Akane the Gorilla for nothing. She tends to overpower songs with her frenetic drumming brilliance. The mix on the Unseen World album (where this sing comes from) is very drum heavy. Personally I wish they would turn up the guitars but oh well. Great reaction. Rock on 🤘
Great reaction mark and Emo free, Warning is in my top 10 I do prefer faster BM, Warning is definitely a driving song 😮
It's a get arrested for speeding song.
When Unseen World first came out a lot of folks were calling it the MISA-Akane show case album, so strong and forward and cool!
I, again, enjoyed this reaction.Thank you.
I love this song, I rank it about in the middle of the Unseen World album. And it's my prefered album of theirs at the moment. At the top of my head, better songs in this album for me : Honkai, Black Hole, I Seek revenge, Giovani, maybe HGK. And Sayonakidori is great too.
No no, thank you! For watching 😊
Epic
I was waiting for this song to make an appearance. "Oh, okay."
Overall, "Warning!" is a defiant anthem that encourages listeners to embrace their true selves and reject the limitations imposed by society, promoting the idea of individual autonomy and the pursuit of personal fulfillment.
When you listed the 3 categories of Band-Maid songs, you missed one. There's the ballad-y one, the freight-train ones, the mid-tempo ones and then there's 'The Dragon Cries'.
😂😂😂 that’s so mean hahah
I think the original title was " The Dragon Hugs a Tree " 🤔🌳🐲
@@frankandre4385 seriously?
@@markabusireactions Naw... it's a smart ass jab at the rare occasion of BM becoming environmentally conscious... I'm not anti-environment but you have to admit...the song creates much controversy... People don't seem to ever say WHY they don't like it...They just say " I don't like it. " Maybe they're used to every other band on earth making " message" songs...They just don't want Band Maid to do it...I don't know...🤷🏻♂️🤔🤪🕊️
@@frankandre4385 people don't like the song? I thought it was just the clumsy video. Expressing opinions through art, outrageous
Stay with those drums! This song is a blast when you do nothing except zero in on every note Akane plays.
This song took me a while to hear properly. It’s one of their dense songs. So many notes. It can be hard to find a groove when they’re punching you in the face for three minutes straight. Same with “Black Hole” and “Shambles.”
I can tell you that they kill it live. The moment that creepy music box intro comes in, everyone goes bonkers
P.S. The insightful, almost wispy artistic analysis you gave after pausing the guitar solo…I understand why you had to stop.
You’re a devious bastard. ❤
I’m the most devious bastard in New York City!
Be sure to read the lyrics for this one.
It's said that this was part of their transition to the better deal at the new record company. A kind of declaration of creative independence.
I still don't understand how they managed to switch record companies and get themselves artistic autonomy and guaranteed anime contracts. Means that their original deal when they were just a bunch of wee girls must have been very well written.
Poker playing pigeon at large.
That's probably because their management, Platinum Passport, is involved with all of that, not their record label.
@@ASR1nc they were managed by platinum passport right at the beginning but they no longer exist except for a vinyl business. Their Japanese booking agency is "platinum" but they are only a booking and artist agency the same as United Artists of Beverly Hills are for the rest of the world.
Most likely is that their original contract with platinum passport that was then passed to the parent "Crown" was not written very tight because they didn't expect them to be very successful and really just wanted miku. But they only got miku if bandmaid failed. But she brought the name, concept and members except saiki to platinum passport and so it was her project not theirs, they just cut a record company deal like you'd get in the west with an agreement to invest a bit in the development of the band. But very low budget.
I think miku impressed the boss of the company which was a kind of boutique label belonging to the crown management to put out their "indy" type projects instead of the jpop under their own brand.
I think everyone was forced to accept that they were not a good fit for the band that they'd become and so they bailed to pony Canyon who have a long history of "real" bands as well as 50% anime and cover a big chunk of Asia for anime.
The artist management side of the original company kept their interest and they've obviously done a great job with the touring within Japan.
Miku and Saiki's radio work was with a company owned by the pony Canyon holding company and miku's cluppo anime music deal was with a small anime studio distributed by poncan.
Saiki was contracted to the original company already so I'm not sure how the deal was with her moving but nobody benefitted from being difficult.
I think the fact that crown keeps a piece of them via the agency deal sweetens the thing and may also be a factor in them working hard on becoming a Japanese success this last year. Very successfully.
Their career has been very well managed and I think that's down to them being very well educated and a solid team. With a small group of very loyal freelance people around them. And mutual respect with the professionals in poncan. They are an extremely professional band and probably a pleasure to work with if they get their way on the basics.
@@stevekane4922 Well, those are a lot more conjectures and suppositions than mine.
I'm not sure if they still have it but they had a circus type song intro in live concerts. Some of the intros could be albums themselves! They are awesome!
The Maid’s Waltz.
Akane🍌🤘
I always wondered if this was the crap the older people heard in the mid-70s when I would play Rush and Zeppelin.
great song.....
The explosion was not green screened. I saw a film of them making this video. They actually did that explosion behind them. The weather was also cold that day.
Oh no, you can tell it’s real because of the lighting on the foreground.
You are the first reactor who didn't comment on the car stunt by Maids but talked about the guitar riff...probably
Is that bad..?
@@markabusireactions No, it's simply a different and unique reaction to me.😉
Btw, they used most of their annual budget to film this OMV...if you don't believe me, just check their OMV (After Life) released right after this one.😏😁
@@K.H.D710 oh I’ve heard! 😂😂
You're the only reactor who really pays attention to Miku's singing. Most people don't really acknowledge how good she is and how much she contributes to their songs. She's the glue that binds both the vocals and instruments.
Also, the live is honestly better. It's less pitchy and easier to listen to. Saiki's voice is less compressed and more dominant.
That’s because she’s ma lass Miku 😂
The maids trolled Mark 😂
There are very few OMVs that are better then the Official LIVE Videos. Besides this one they are, 'Blooming', 'Shambles' and 'Rinne'. That's it! Sure, the LIVE is better visually, but the sound on the OMV is much better. Is this one of their best songs? No. But throw in some car crashes and an explosion and it's pretty damned good. They should make a poster of them silhouetted against the fireball! My personal categories, for BAND-MAID? They have S Tier song, like a dozen or so of those, Then they have AA+++ songs. And a few I can live without. 'Screaming', Start Over' and 'The Dragon Cries'.So, what's your Sample Goal? I feel like I'm missing out.
