So you don’t need stamping polish??!?? Ohhhh yay! I saw this done in a different video with white stamping polish over the sharpie instead of the silver you’re using, and was thinking it’s too bad we need stamping polish. This ROCKS!!! 🤓
I attempted this today to do 4th of July nails, for some reason I couldn't get a silver nail polish like that to work. I only scrapped across the design once too & it wouldn't pick up the design lol. I don't know what I'm doing wrong & most of the time when I use permanent markers, they never turn out true to the color of the marker unfortunately, even using a white stamping polish. So my 4th of July nails are basically light blue & pink instead of red lol. I can never get the red marker to actually look red for some reason. Love the way yours turned out though!
Unfortunately not all polishes will work for Sharpie stamping. Silvers are finicky and can dry too quickly. Red sharpies are particularly tough too. Top coat can change the color to a rusty orange color sometimes. Water based or No Smudge top coats are best.
@@KyongLee Yeah I've noticed my top coat occasionally changes the color, either making them more vibrant or less vibrant, which is weird. I'll look for a water-based top coat & see if that helps. And yeah I'm not sure if it's the brand of permanent marker's I'm using or if the stamping polish just changes it too much for some reason, but it always turns it pink lol. I'll keep trying to play around with it & see if I can get it to work better next time. :)
For the white (base stamping) do you use a white stamping polish or a normal nail polish please? You used make your mark 4, but in your text is written no 3... mistake (3 iis for the blanc stamping) but make yur mark 4 for the images?
Stamping polish or a regular polish that's opaque enough to stamp with. I used regular polish Funky Fingers Gesso here. You can use any regular polish but you may need more layers.
The white base was fine, but I also experimented with a black base and that bled into the Sharpies/silver foil when I top coated. Also, you need to be careful when using acetone to clean up because the Sharpie colors will run when exposed to accept.
Have got to get that plate! Easiest way to lay down a foundation base color! Nicely done too. Thanks for sharing!
What a cool technique. Loved how your mani turned out. Thanks for sharing. TTYL, my friend. ~~~~Tina
Pretty! Like it with the silver polish!
Thank you for showing us more ideas!
Absolutely love this set 💕
Love the stripes 😍
Awesome! And affordable!
Nail hall of fame thinking..Wow!!

You can use a variety of polishes with this method since the Sharpies provide the color. A white pearl looks nice as well.
Try only swiping once, so your stars stay filled in completely. If I swipe more than once, it messes up quite a few of my images.
Beautiful job! Now wondering if my alcohol inks (made with sharpies) will work in a similar way...will have to experiment. Thanks!
Oh, interesting question! Please let me know your results if you do experiment.

What white did you use? Love this video!
I used Funky Fingers Gesso which is a great white for stamping too.
Do you give a minute to let the sharpie dry? Mine never looks this good.
No, that was actual time.
Do you have any problems with top coating over the sharpies when mixed with the polish?

*acetone. Stupid autocorrect.
What liquid latex do you use ?

That one is my favorite but it's not ammonia free so it's stinky.
Kyong Lee thanks
