Getting a performance intake and deleting the front muffler will definitely give you a bit more horsepower, as well as making it sound a little nicer!
Dudester. We are kindred spirits. We have a 1993 triple black 240. We've had it a little more than a year. We named it Ozzy. or Oz . Lucky Oz - it arrived in our life late late St Patrick's day.
It's like a family member. My girlfreiend and I have a little place in Del Rey, California.

@@GreaseRenegade I have a 1989 240 glt estate or wagon it looks good from far but far from good but l love it my wife calls it the hearse I've tried to attach a photo but don't know how to keep the good work up 👍☘

Don't give it up, I've talked to so many people who did, only to regret it later. (I've literally gotten offers to buy mine out in the world, "name your price". Lol)
We were empty nesters until we picked up Ozzy late late late on 3/17. Lucky us.
It's been a helluva roller coaster ride. 240's are a real trip. triple black with privacy tints.
Ooooh. It's been ummmmmm. Eventful. We take it to Sunset Blvd. and to Venice to play some music. Ummmmm. more later. Vrooom for 240's!
Flat top no sunroof are the best.
It sounds decent at idle, so hopefully no major work is needed on the engine besides a lil clean-up. I just did overload springs and bilstein shocks in the rear, Keep hearing a rattle tho so probably need to retighten maybe the upper shock bolt. Keep the vids coming and good luck!
In terms of motor work, she is solid...though I might make soem slight changes.
Checking the torque on the bolts is a good idea, I might also suggest checking the rear bushings...torque rods would be my first go-to.
