The concave bottom is from windsurfer tech, it promotes quicker planing speed. I'm looking at the Saltbush version with the EVA deck.

Good video. I have a fiberglass pro board that I bought after using my 100 liter carbon classic board for a year. I chose the $1700 fiberglass pro board over the $3700 carbon pro board as an upgrade and I’m glad I did. I put a nose guard on and a thin strip of EVA foam on the tail in case I bang the tail while moving my board around along with RSPro rail guards to cover my CF reg number’s because registration is required to efoil on the lakes in Northern California. I didn’t buy a cover for my board because I put my fully assembled board in my pick up truck with camper shell.

No doubt…,I had a Pro Classic carbon and I damaged in Florida when I clicked my 4k miles review. But I got a Ultra cause I wanted to upgrade. The ultra is an amazing board… however when I’m teaching I rather be on the Pro cause you get on the foil faster. So I just got the fiberglass and I love it. Thank you for the feed back

We've built a few efoils now and would always go with the carbon fibre. Not only for being lighter but its also much stiffer and stronger. We're getting our boards down to 8kgs as the tubs are also carbon. Great review . Thanks !

For sure carbon is a superior material… what brands you build? Are they custom boards?? I was even thinking about getting a custom made one from my friend Jhon from Triton Creations

I seriously considered the new fiberglass model, but ultimately decided against it. There is a lot of confusion about the drawbacks and benefits of carbon versus fiberglass. Typically carbon is labeled stronger than fiberglass, but that’s incorrect. First of all, it depends on what you mean by stronger. Furthermore there are different types of fiberglass with hugely different characteristics. To make it even more complicated, different types of fiberglass are named differently in various parts of the world (S-glass is the same as R-glass). From my contact at Fliteboard, I wasn’t able to find put which type of fiberglass is used. Additionally, I have no idea how much carbon is used versus how much fiberglass is used in a board. In my opinion, for a board there are 3 characteristics that are important: weight, stiffness and impact resistance.
Weight: in general carbon is lighter than fiberglass, but then again if you use more carbon you might end up with the same weight. The weight differential between the boards is fairly small. Not sure if it’s noticeable at all. Maybe slight edge for carbon.
Stiffness: in general carbon is stiffer than fiberglass. Again, it is going to depend on the amount of material you use. Also, for an Efoil I’m not sure it makes a big difference. For a hydrofoil you want maximum stiffness as you don’t want to loose any input energy. For an Efoil, standing on cushy pad, it might not make much of a difference. Maybe slight edge for carbon.
Impact resistance: in general carbon is weaker than fiberglass (brittle, cracks easier). Again, who knows in a specific application as you don’t know how much material is used. I talked to Fliteboard and they say the carbon board is actually more impact resistant. I somewhat doubt that, but can’t verify. Carbon cracks fairly easily, so I put a front guard, a back guard and a rail tape on. I walk in and out of my house with the board fully assembled, but it’s a narrow fit. Typically I hit something on my way in or out. Maybe slight edge for fiberglass.
My final decision: I ended up buying a carbon pro model, the new board version. If there was a black fiberglass version, I might have picked that one. But I would need to have known more about amount and type of fiberglass used. I think the new board shape is better, so classic carbon wasn’t an option. If price is an important factor, then fiberglass might be the better choice imo. If price isn’t an important factor and you definitely want a black board, then always carbon. Lacking more information, it is a bit of a toss up.
Hopefully, their next product is a E surfboard that allows you to use jet and battery from Efoil.

All well made points and I agree with you.
If I would be looking at “hight performance”… yes!! My SUP paddles, my face bike and so on are all in carbon. Only time will tell hoe this board will endure… I found that my “Pro classic carbon” was good but not as strong and my “Epoxy” Sup boards.. then again they were much heavier… as you said it all depends.
Now the new design board on the Carbon board is deff a sweet board.. If I was buying my Flite for the first time I world got the latest “carbon board”… not the classic. However when I destroyed my Pro classic carbon I got upgrade to a Ultra … so I miss having a pro board. Now $1700 to $3.500 is s big diff.. that is why I got the fiberglass. Thank you for the comment bud. Be safe

Hi Rolando! How is your fiberglass board after few weeks of use? I'm asking because mine after few sessions (less then 8 hours total active time) has quite a few places where the paint goes off. The board is still almost brand new and I'm trying my best to not hit anything, scratch it etc, I'm really careful. After today's session I cleaned my board with fresh water, dried it and noticed that the paint is starting going off from the top of the board below the FLITE logo - no sign of any physical damage, but I could feel the paint is starting to crack there. In my opinion this is bad paint job, I will probably reach out fliteboard support for help anyway, but just wanted to know if you have similar issues with your board?

Sorry to hear about your board....they deff have. a different finish...My fiber glass board has some small cracked paint where I hit it....but is all my fault....however the finish on the carbon is diff than the fiber glass...the carbon boards tend to NOT FLAKE. the pain...the fiber glass does...I thing is a "gel paint"...witch can be stronger but it "flakes" easily .. Other then that I say is a great board...Also you can compare it with a "surf board" either because again the paint finish is diff... I do agree with you that I wish they used a different way to pain their board...but honestly it does not bother me that much...the first "ding or crack" is always the worse one...after that you get used to it...lol...My green board (you can see on my early years) had 4000 miles on is and it had wholes and tape everywhere ... then again...once you up on foil the board almost it does not matter anymore....im more picky about the wings...but that is a whole another chat lol...thank you for watching and please consider subscribing...I got more stuff on the way...congrats on your board and I hope you are enjoying it...cheers

I subscribed already - I really like your videos, especially all the practical tips based on your experience - thank you very much! I've seen your green board and yes it had a lot of tape, but I saw no tape on the top of the board near the FLITE logo and your board had thousands of miles already, mine has only 100... I know that like with every water sport there will be dings, scratches and I accept them, especially if they are my fault, but the cracking in the top of the board seems to be just from the forces that affect the board when touching down the water - normal usage by quite light rider 78kg /172lbs. I will let you know later how it will go on, but for now I can only say for anybody that is thinking about getting the fiberglass model - just get the carbon classic (its only 300 USD difference because you probably have to buy the 200USD board bag anyway) or full carbon if money is not a problem

    • @Coach_Rolando

@@michalkuti Thank you for the complement..Most the damages on the green board were along the side more in the middle....I did not have much problems on the front of it...send me a picture or video of the damage...it sounds stranger to have a crack there on the tope of it...Yes!...you got a good point...truly is only $300 diff with the bag...the doing of the classic is just a little diff...but again...once you are on the foil they are all the same and them is just a matter of looks. I hope you find a good solution with your board damage.
