@@matthewdavidjarvis6039 Maybe let the pilot concentrate instead of screaming in their ear during a fight. You don't really need to remind someone "Hey try not to get shot" in the middle of a battle in the first place. Alot of the "command from the computer screen" scenes in movies are very unrealistic anyway. Generally the commanders on the ground give very broad instructions, not extremely specific stuff like when Connor was going "He's got a lock on you!". The pilot already has instruments telling them when they're being painted by radar, they don't need someone on the radio hundreds of miles away repeating the same thing. It's just a movie thing to make it more dramatic for the audience but really doesn't make sense from a realistic standpoint.
The A-10 was a good choice of plane for this movie since it was rather appropriate for the kinds of enemy they were fighting which are mostly ground based HK-tanks and T-600'.s I can't imagine them using an F-15,F-16, or F-22 because they would be overpowered in-terms of speed maneuverability against the aerial HK's machines. The AV-8B harrier would've also been an good choice against aerial HK's given their size and VTOL capabilities they both posses.
Acc it’s good for a different reason, they’re cheap and low tech, so easier to maintain than a f-15 or 22. Being overpowered against ur enemy when you’re basically fighting a war against the machines isn’t exactly a bad thing bug this is also a nuclear apocalypse with limited resources equipment and vehicles available to everyone so it’s not like the resistance can shop around
I'm also surprised that obsolete aircraft weren't more common too. Were P-51 mustangs duking it out with the HK air units? Wouldn't piston driven fighters be easier to maintain than jets?
@@twistedyogert see there a small problem with that tho, if slow moving jets are being shot down with ease what do u think is gonna happen to a p-51? It’s also a matter of where are they gonna find all the equipment to manage a fleet of ww2 era aircraft, at least jets have former military bases to scavenge from
2 problems: TTO is Time to Objective, which is used on personell not ordinance. He should've used TOT which means Time on Target. And "Danger Close" is used when deploying ordinance when friendlies will be within 100m of the impact zone? Nobody was that close. The SOF team was still on helos at least 1/2 a mile out and the planes are moving to daat to get caught in the frag pattern of their own ordinance.
God I love the second scene. The A10 Planes are probably super valuable for the resistance, hard to maintain, hard to even take for a test flight without alarming HKs. They also have barely any chance, they really are like flying empty cans compared to the machines. Still two of them go for it, and they actually kill the first HK like fucking gangsters. The huge machine gun fucks up the walker pretty much beyond repair and after that their first pass is over and they obviously never get a second one.
They're hammering down the enemy turrets, for CAS. I don't see them doing dogfights in this scene. Plus it's a post apocalyptic world there might be 5th generation aircraft left but i doubt it would be properly maintain you can clearly see in here that they're using old heli's. Basically you use everything that can still be properly maintained. This is the early years of war where they haven't reverse engineered skynet's tech

Well the T-600's were weaker plus it was in the impact zone of the cruise missile AND was blasted with the 30mm cannon on the A-10. So a burst of what I assume 7.62mm rounds would finish it.
@@TheFacelessStoryMaker Yeah A-10 uses 30mm Vulcan Cannon that fires Depleted Uranium Rounds. It is actually impressive since if Skynet's armor was normal that harvester would be ripped into half
People hate this movie because they wanted to see more war. But one thing they don't understand is that this film is not taking place in 2029. It was a more earlier time. Because u can see kyle reese is so young in this film. But in 2029 kyle reese was a mature man right?? This proves that this film is not taking place in 2029. The war scenes that u actually wanted to see with purple lasers, that actually happens in 2029. And i think we would surely see lot more war scenes in its sequels. I was very very excited for those sequels!! Terminator Salvation was going to be the first of a new trilogy. But unfortunately that freaking halcyon company went bankrupcy and they sold the rights. I loved Bale as john connor. I loved this movie. No Arnold so what.. they still gave us some badass awesome cgi arnolds. Arnold was busy. That's why he couldn't participate. I loved this film and wanted to see its sequels. I am actually unhappy with what they did in Genisys.
That is also why A10 make so much sense in that movie. After an apocalypse it is doubtful that one can maintain many high end jets. They are too reliant on maintenance, spare parts and clean runways. A10 on the other hand are designed to deal with less then ideal conditions, so that they can be used from more improvised air fields.
I don't care how tough that giant harvester is, a dense concentration of fire from the A10 at a single spot should've put a hole right through that piece of junk
@ourtimelost plus you gotta remember that judgement day left several billion people alive, there wasnt a nuke on every small town and whatnot, so outside of the major skynet areas, theres likely alot of small towns and maybe a few small cities left that could have left considerable resources left.
@smka13 Hmm interesting question. In short, No. The A-10 and A-10C were designed with one purpose in mind - ground support. However that isn't to say that they aren't capable of defending themselves in an air to air battle. AIM-9 sidewinders and the GAU-8 cannon could provide enough firepower to successfully engage enemy air targets.
@luke wilson >cruise speed is low, hence it isn't maneuverable >fails to notice the A-10 has straight wings, which are excellent for low speed maneuvers Bruh
luke wilson biplanes are way more maneuverable than almost any other planes, and are also some of the slowest around. Speed and maneuverability are not the same thing.
@@vectura5480 It's also true that biplanes have two pair of wings (duh), hence the maneuverability. Double control surfaces? Double the fun. Probably half the speed, also.
i think the a-10 is the perfect choice for fighting against machines, its tough, durable, and it can take alot of fire and even still fly with one engine gone, and it has some nasty weapons especially the cannon ;)
@@danielt.9154 The A-10C has Sidewinders AA missiles but they are still ground attack aircraft, they should have F-16s and F-15s for patrols and recons, A-10 should be ground support only and should be supported by other multirole fighters. There are only 700+ A-10s but there are 4000+ F-16s (1000+ for the F-15s), if anything F-16s are the ones that should be surviving Judgement Day because there are simply a lot of them built. I suspect A-10s are chosen because rule of cool. Oh well at least they got the 30mm GAU and twin engine sounds right.
Let Me clarify what I meant by 'Holding it's own' If by all means an A10 has no choice but to dog fight for whatever reason, then the A10 can put up a fight A fairly slow aircraft with a pretty large wing span for its size is pretty good. That and a group of people decided to simulate a Dog Fight against an A10
well the tank of most modern jet fighters have nitrogen pumped into the tanks as the fuel is used up to prevent fires. Also I might be wrong but im pretty sure the has self fueling fuel tanks( or it would be a good ground attack aircraft) so when it was hit the fuel can usually still seal it self to prevent leaks. Jet fuel has a high flash point so risk of fire is lower. So fires are not really that likely
@smka13 the paintwork is rough because the A10s are the last remaining aircraft the resistance managed to salvage after the war. You have to imagine that the aircraft have seen a lot of service and so the paint will have worn off over time
@Drakki100 It was designed specifically to destroy Soviet tanks. The entire aircraft was built around the 30mm cannon in the nose. Of course, being designed to attack tanks means that the aircraft was also ideal for numerous ground attack missions. I don't think there is a record of an A-10 engaging in a dogfight, but I could be wrong. Against an enemy with similar turning capabilities, I don't see why they couldn't perform air combat.
I love how this movie actually showcases Human Military hardware as being able to destroy Terminators and Hunter Killer vehicles. The U.S Military is the most powerful military force in the history of mankind, a nuclear war shouldn't get rid of all that military technology we have. If we get scenes like this but on a full-scale war like scene as in the intro of Terminator 2 then that would be an awesome movie.
while I know it's just a movie. I've seen documentaries where pilots have said the a-10 can lose up to ten-feet of it's wing and still fly fairly well. So when at 0:32 when the HK hunter tank hits the a-10 and it crashes it's bullshit. A-10's have 1 1/2 inch titanium armor I think and can take many hits from 22mm shells if I'm right.
Correct me if I’m wrong but the use of The A-10 and other Cold War era vehicles like that helicopter was primarily because those were the only older hardware that didn’t get jacked and fried?
@smka13 as far as aa goes...yes. they are by no means fighter jets, but their low speed/ low altitude maneuvering is supposed to be really really good. it's supposed to be for out turn air defenses, and, while at medium to high altiude at high speed, they would be dog meat in front of any modern fighter, it might be able to hold it's own skimming the ground.
Just trying to imagine how rare A10s must be (as in how many are left and how hard it would be to make new ones) in that time so the loss hurts even more.
1:57 If I remember correctly, the rounds from the main gun of a A-10 hits with the same kinetic force as a round from the main gun of an Abrams battle tank. Why was that robot still in one piece?
All has gone to shit man. The humans were lucky to find whatever base(s) that contained undamaged A-10s, they probably already used all the DU rounds up, and only had the ability to make basic 30 mm rounds.
So John has that little screen he’s using to watch the whole fight between the planes and terminators, and it’s actively tracking all moving objects from a birds eye view, so I’m gonna assume that the resistance has some sort of satellite array, or at least 1 or 2 satellites orbiting around earth? And if so, how has skynet not taken them out, considering the fact that skynet actually does have orbiting satellites?
Wow, this is so much better than the Transformers A10 scene.... here you understand where the A10s are shooting at, IT SOUNDS LIKE A GAU-8, it looks fast and it feels just right.
Only if both A-10's had broken off and split immediately passing the Skynet Transport, they would have been able to loop around and nail the second HK-Aerial as it was released under the belly of the Skynet Transport and possibly forcing the Skynet Transport to land by shooting out an engine or such and save everyone onboard because the Harvester was wrecked in the opening salvo of the attack. This would have created a pincer attack leaving the HK-Aerial vulnerable since it has to choose one A-10 to focus on while the other closes in sending the HK-Aerial to the scrap yard.
1:57 It looks like most of those 30mm rounds from that first burst of that GAU-8 have missed for some reason since I only see a few detonations of those rounds hitting that Harvester.
actually, while A-10s are easy to maintain F-16s are also a good rugged choice. there is a reason so many different countries use it and its the only jet that can be used in Alaska. and since there are thousands of them in the US airbases inventory it would make sense the ressitance would use F-16s as well.
A-10's are built to survive having one of its engine's blown off and up to a third of one of its wings blown off. The pilot is encased in the "titanium bathtub", even the glass is built to resist 20 mm cannon fire.

One does not throw A-10s in dog fight. The movie creators are imbeciles.
Artanno62 I know that, I'm just kidding around.
Artanno62 Alright, then explain what prevents them from using an F-15 or F-16?
A-10's aren't bosses in air to air combat
Handsome Jack Touche, but they can still take an awful lot of damage.
"Evasive maneuvers!" what a stupid order in such a canyon....
A-10 isn't much of a dogfighter either. Resistance should've sent something like the F-16
@@devanshudwivedi5875 sure let me search a scrap pile for one, these two were the closest to the area
@@Crisscross918 Yea but I don't really think that would make a fun scene
It’s also a matter of where are they gonna find all the equipment to manage a fleet of ww2 era aircraft, at least jets have former military bases to scavenge from
Supposedly they also had Apaches fighting the Aerials when the war first started
@@ryancamara5689 dude the P-51 have literally the same max speed of a A-10 (380-385 knots)
More movies should open with a cruise missile.
"Vanguard this is Blackjack-Six. Missile inbound to skynet target, TTO One-One seconds."
"Danger close."
2 problems: TTO is Time to Objective, which is used on personell not ordinance. He should've used TOT which means Time on Target.
And "Danger Close" is used when deploying ordinance when friendlies will be within 100m of the impact zone? Nobody was that close. The SOF team was still on helos at least 1/2 a mile out and the planes are moving to daat to get caught in the frag pattern of their own ordinance.

ok, cool. The way I wrote it is also correct, only in another language.
The huge machine gun fucks up the walker pretty much beyond repair and after that their first pass is over and they obviously never get a second one.
this film truly diserves a Oscar for special effects, or cinematogrophy, or art direction. and a lenghthy DVD special edition
I just saw dark fate. Now i think that salvation was not so bad after all
I love how they have the A-10s flying around like they're proper jet fighters, but it looks so wrong
@@Dondingdingding T2 mentioned about how the advanced bombers were upgraded with Cyberdyne chips and had a perfect operational record. So perhaps the 5th Gen fighters had Skynet chips in them and humanity couldn't use them? Imagine trying to drive a modern car with autopilot, and the autopilot either refuses to go, is a spy, or tries to kill you
@@toddkes5890 but in t2 the war is already on near end that was the time where skynet made an advancement on their technology making the hunting deadly that humans can only go out at night and during that time as well john is the supreme commander of the resistance and they were able to reverse engineer the skynets technology that plasma rifle is the example for that one. Last is kyle is already a full blooded warrior during that time and majority of the so called fans doesn't realize that salvation was set before the future war of T1 and T2

Terminator 2 movie, 50,000 rounds expended at the T-1000
Terminator Salvation: Conners puts two rounds into a semi crushed T 600’s head...it’s dead. The future’s easy.
The Warthogs one beautiful plane, I liked how they included the A10 and Hueys
I am actually unhappy with what they did in Genisys.
those a-10s looked dirty as hell
YC P. That's what nuclear warfare does
Because it's the end of days man. There's nobody left to manufacture new ones and they're probably only getting basic maintenance.
Say what you want about the film as a whole; but these battle scenes are awesome! What Transformers should be!
One thing that bugs me about this scene is Connor micromanaging the remaining pilot while she's trying to evade an enemy fighter.
A fine Close Air Support weapon platform that never runs out of time.
this scene takes place 2 days before my 20th birthday.
Skynet becomes self aware 10 days after my birthday.
@ourtimelost plus you gotta remember that judgement day left several billion people alive, there wasnt a nuke on every small town and whatnot, so outside of the major skynet areas, theres likely alot of small towns and maybe a few small cities left that could have left considerable resources left.
These scenes surpass dark fate by a long shot and I haven’t even seen the movie.
That's like me saying Far from home has better villain than Spiderman 2 and like you I still haven't seen the movie
@@iryu7288 This is accurate.
The A10 actually was depicted pretty well in this movie, takes 50% losses on a gun run, gets immediately slaughtered when enemy aircraft engage it
That first scene with all the Hueys needed more Flight of the Valkyries
My fav scene in the movie
Honestly I thaught this was a good movie after t2 of course
The first 5 min of this movie is what the last 1 hour and 55 min should have been like.
0:25 thats how a A10 strafing run really sounds like
Lol, evasive maneuvers in an A-10
The A-10 can be VERY maneuverable at certain altitudes. Most people think the A-10 is unmaneuverable just because of its role as an attacker.
@luke wilson >cruise speed is low, hence it isn't maneuverable
>fails to notice the A-10 has straight wings, which are excellent for low speed maneuvers
Bruh
luke wilson biplanes are way more maneuverable than almost any other planes, and are also some of the slowest around. Speed and maneuverability are not the same thing.
@@vectura5480 It's also true that biplanes have two pair of wings (duh), hence the maneuverability. Double control surfaces? Double the fun.
Probably half the speed, also.
You're still my favorite plane A-10!!
i think the a-10 is the perfect choice for fighting against machines, its tough, durable, and it can take alot of fire and even still fly with one engine gone, and it has some nasty weapons especially the cannon ;)
This honestly looks like a call of duty commercial when the A10 crashes
Yep lol
An A-10's gatling gun sounds like a dragon sharting asteroids.
I don’t see how they expect a ground attack aircraft to keep up in a dog fight lol
The A10 can surprisingly hold it's own in a Dog fight
@Captain Germany Of course a German says otherwise
@@danielt.9154 The A-10C has Sidewinders AA missiles but they are still ground attack aircraft, they should have F-16s and F-15s for patrols and recons, A-10 should be ground support only and should be supported by other multirole fighters.
There are only 700+ A-10s but there are 4000+ F-16s (1000+ for the F-15s), if anything F-16s are the ones that should be surviving Judgement Day because there are simply a lot of them built. I suspect A-10s are chosen because rule of cool. Oh well at least they got the 30mm GAU and twin engine sounds right.
Let Me clarify what I meant by 'Holding it's own'
If by all means an A10 has no choice but to dog fight for whatever reason, then the A10 can put up a fight
A fairly slow aircraft with a pretty large wing span for its size is pretty good.
That and a group of people decided to simulate a Dog Fight against an A10
Any movie that stars the A-10s gets a thumbs up from me.
Any movie that gets the sound of the BRRRRTT correct gets two thumbs up from me.
2:33 How many Gs did they pull there?
well the tank of most modern jet fighters have nitrogen pumped into the tanks as the fuel is used up to prevent fires.
You have to imagine that the aircraft have seen a lot of service and so the paint will have worn off over time
Is it just me or I heard a BBRRRTTTT at 0:26
+Kevin T I came here for the BRRRRRTTT
BRRRRRRRRTTTT
@Drakki100 It was designed specifically to destroy Soviet tanks. The entire aircraft was built around the 30mm cannon in the nose. Of course, being designed to attack tanks means that the aircraft was also ideal for numerous ground attack missions. I don't think there is a record of an A-10 engaging in a dogfight, but I could be wrong. Against an enemy with similar turning capabilities, I don't see why they couldn't perform air combat.
Do not forget : original Skynet was made by Cyberdyne Systems. This Skynet was made by Cyber Research Systems (US Air Force).
Why are those 30 mm rounds doing so little dmg?
A-10 made the film for me. savage film on a par with T2
The brrrr effect is magnificent. But you should hear the sound of the rounds hitting target up close, that’s terrifying
This is why this Terminator film is my favorite it's more grounded and realistic
Those are some dirty hogs. Shows you how hard and how often the resistance uses their assets.
how the A10 survive the EMP of the nuclear apocalipse?
One of my favourite Terminator Reboot
A10s are quite effective against machines.
Correct me if I’m wrong but the use of The A-10 and other Cold War era vehicles like that helicopter was primarily because those were the only older hardware that didn’t get jacked and fried?
@smka13
as far as aa goes...yes. they are by no means fighter jets, but their low speed/ low altitude maneuvering is supposed to be really really good. it's supposed to be for out turn air defenses, and, while at medium to high altiude at high speed, they would be dog meat in front of any modern fighter, it might be able to hold it's own skimming the ground.
Gota say, logistics must be hell, and even more so for keeping the A-10s up and going.
A movie wrongly underrated.
I think the whole movie should have been a a war movie with large scale battles
those A-10 jet firing legendary AGM-65 mavercik missiles!
Evasive maneuvers! "Sorry, all i can do is do a loop :P."
Do a barrel roll!
ABLE RAPTOR star fox has taught you well
So John has that little screen he’s using to watch the whole fight between the planes and terminators, and it’s actively tracking all moving objects from a birds eye view, so I’m gonna assume that the resistance has some sort of satellite array, or at least 1 or 2 satellites orbiting around earth? And if so, how has skynet not taken them out, considering the fact that skynet actually does have orbiting satellites?
2:08 Mothership/flying aircraft carrier.
this is the best part of the film!! and those planes are really great!! i want one for my birthday xD
@kimskis Yeah, the Warthog is very agile, not made for dogfighting but it can carry Sidewinders.
A-10's are built to survive having one of its engine's blown off and up to a third of one of its wings blown off. The pilot is encased in the "titanium bathtub", even the glass is built to resist 20 mm cannon fire.
Nobody:
Nobody in the universe:
A-10:BRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTT
So the A-10 has air to air capability?
A bit, with some Air-to-Air missiles, well placed shots, and creativity, A-10 is pretty damn decent.
