    The Acousticats
    Written by C. Clarke
I used to wander around the plaza of Santa Fe, eating Frito pies, writing songs, imagining myself back in the past and drinking at Evangelos’s, a lovely little watering hole.
This was a time before the Internet and you had to go to interesting places to figure shit out.
I recall being a wonderful coffee shop and running into a friend, John Chelew, who was also the booking person at McCabe’s in Santa Monica. I had only known John through the business of trying to book our band at McCabes so it was delightful to run into him and realize we were both there on our songwriting sojourns. That gave us a chance to relate to each other on a cool creative level and John was an exceptionally wonderful guy.
Life before the Internet was like that…spontaneous, human, conversational, and real.
The only influencer around was your soul.
Santa Fe is the third oldest city in the United States, founded in 1610 and it’s the only part of the country that natives were successful in overthrowing their oppressive colonists.
    Pretty special place…

I grew up listening to this, as well as the rest of Down at Evangelina’s. Still a favorite years later!
