  • @ScotchmanGass

    I'm a classically trained guitarist (Segovia and G.I.T.); I'm stunned by Konstantina's abilities. I know she doesn't express much joy in what she's doing but that likely owns to extreme concentration. I would switch her to a 1/2-size or even a 1/4 size with a pickup instead of using a microphone if necessary to accommodate her small hands which would enable her to excel even more so as it's far more comfortable for her to play. Bravo Konstantina!
    To the many dolts below with their idiotic arguments to the contrary; here's where I win this debate:
    1/4 and 1/2, size guitars were created by luthiers to accommodate children who wanted to learn to play guitar; 3/4/parlor, full-size and baritone were created for small/medium/large adults.
    Now, bugger off with you! Cheers!

      I’m gonna have to play devils advocate and take the opposite position…..these aids would likely take away from training finger strength, dexterity, and future muscle memory. Easier for her now, yes. But better for her in the long run? I’m not so sure.

    • @ScotchmanGass
      @ScotchmanGass 2 года назад +41

      @@HisWordsAreTruth I disagree, I don't give a kid a pair of shoes which are the size for an adult knowing the kid is going to grow into them someday; that's stupid and cruel. Watching this child climb onto this huge guitar also looks wrong to me. Might also be a reason why she looks like she hates playing the gigantic thing. And if you want to argue further, I say; walk a mile in shoes far too big for you before responding.

    • @HisWordsAreTruth
      @HisWordsAreTruth 2 года назад +17

      @@ScotchmanGass I have, and so have countless others. If you want to say it's "stupid", I suppose that's an opinion....which could only come from the modern era really. But saying it's cruel is just complete melodrama. People have been learning this way for a very long time.

      I think you know what you're talking about, when it comes to guitar playing. Have you ever met or spoken to this person or her teacher? Seems not. Maybe don't give advice until you get to know the person to whom you're giving it. Of course, it will be more effective if they solicit it- or know you well enough to trust you. Does this make sense to you?

    It has been my experience as a guitar teacher that what the child hears in the home has an enormous influence in whether the child plays well or not. Do not expect your child to have a passion for Segovia when they hear Britney Spears in the home. You can almost bet that this wonderfully talented little girl comes from a home where good music is played often.

    If a student ever complains about their hands being too small, I'll just show them this video. I wonder if she started with a 3/4 size guitar. I wouldn't have expected her to use a full size instrument for a couple years, but she can obviously play it.

    • @Fairlight2cx
      @Fairlight2cx 6 лет назад +23

      Seriously! I play bass. I'm 46. My hands are average, maybe slightly large. I always complain about frets being *just* too far away from each other. But if this girl can manage, what's my excuse. Well, besides lack of formal training. :) Seriously, I've seen others say they were told they can't play the bass because their fingers are too short. This proves that to be a rubbish argument.

    • @midi510
      @midi510 6 лет назад +13

      I think flexibility has a lot to do with it. If you're a carpenter or other type of tradesman, your hands are probably muscle bound. Kids are quite flexible right out of the box.

    • @Fairlight2cx
      @Fairlight2cx 6 лет назад +1

      Alas, I'm just a sysadmin/programmer who can type quickly. I have much more QWERTY keyboard time than fretboard time. Also, zero formal training on bass. And getting some would be 'interesting'. I'm left-handed, and play lefty, but strung righty, so I'm really playing upside down. Would be a hell of a challenge to formally train me.

    • @HBSuccess
      @HBSuccess 6 лет назад +11

      First, I believe that is a 3/4 size guitar, but that is more for a child being a able to actually sit correctly with it - right arm making it to the strings. Left hand is all about your thumb being behind the neck where it should be. Do that and anyone can play practically any scale length. That said, this girl is exceptional - classical guitar is all about dynamics and voice separation and she is already doing that instinctively. Reminds me of a young Ana Vidovic.

    My favorite composition from the Spaniard Francisco Tárrega. Given her age and physical challenge of a full size instrument, she did an amazing job. She maintained the cadence and fluidity on a score that challenges even well seasoned guitarists. Yes she may have hesitated on a note or two but overall, it was an impressive achievement. Yet people are missing the point ...beyond her prowess is the fact that at such early age she summoned the discipline and character traits that have enriched her soul and of those of us exposed to her art. God bless and protect such an angel.

    I think I know why there are so many thumbs down. These people think this young girl has been forced to acquire such discipline, thus going against her will, (which would add up to child abuse) but let me tell you 8,000 +, I have been trying to play the acoustic guitar for over 40 years and I am no where near or close to the level of this 7 year old. I am a Masters graduate and educator in Early Childhood Education, and frankly I know that it would be virtually impossible to teach such a young child to play like this unless there was an underlying passion in the beginning. I take solace from this and not envy or any other negative emotion.

    • @ate7714

Luck that brings wealth. Luck that avoids death. Luck that defines your family and the people around you. Luck cant be unfair. It how things are. Having a negative emotion because of this, shows you that you truly like playing guitar. If it didn’t produced that emotions, then you never take it seriously.
