- There are many videos on how to replace the kidney grille on a BMW 3 series or 4 series (f series). One method, which i particularly like, takes 40 seconds but is quite risky for the grille you remove. Other ' best ways to replace' videos involve removing the complete front bumper, which not only take a lot of time (30 min +) but a number of tools and eventually, the same amount of finger work.
This method only takes 5 minutes, requires no tools and can be done by everyone who is not 'a regular' at a fast food restaurant. So if you are lazy ánd scared to break your car/grille, this is the way for you.

This is definitely the best way to do this. I found that getting a flat head screwdriver to help push the bottom ones up helped more than trying it with your fingers.
Works if you have the right sized hands, did mine this way as did not fancy undoing and bending panels. Clean the apertures prior to fitting the new grilles!

What I did with mine as I was no longer keeping the old kidney grills, I cut the fins off whilst on the caR, I could see all the clips and get to them quite easy, obviously if your keeping your old grill don't do that, but rather than trying to get your fingers through just cut the fins off.
That is indeed a good way if you are disposing the old one. However, you could sell the old one easily if you keep it uncut.

Hey J, do I have to push down the clips or pull them up?
You pull them towards the inside. So the ones on the top down and the ones on the bottom up. Have a look at the grill you are replacing, that should give a clue on how to remove it
I'm 1.88m and 100kg and workout a lot, there were no chance to fit my shovels in😢
In that caee unfortunately you need to remove the bumper or find someone who is willing to squeeze their fingers in…

Het hoeft niet bij elk model zo eenvoudig te gaan. Op een 4 serie bijvoorbeeld is het een ramp maar kan het wel... Ben benieuwd hoe het op een 1 serie lukt.
Werkt deze ook voor een F48 X1 model?
Dag DeeDee, ik heb nog nooit op een x1 vervangen dus ik weet niet of dat daarop ook werkt. Als ik naar een plaatje kijk van de grill op een x1 verwacht ik dat het ook zo kan. Maar het gaat niet op elk model zo makkelijk, op bijvoorbeeld een 4 serie is het heel lastig.
Mine wouldn’t budge, so I just took my hammer and smashed it. I added red bars inside of my 2015 328i then added the all black grill.
