    I should "shift" in quotations since it doesn't really have a transmission: the electric motor is directly connected to the wheels.

    But...the real Automatic Si is the Acura Integra, no?

  • @SIIKAP1
    @SIIKAP1 3 месяца назад +3

    It doesn’t actually have a CVT. It has a direct drive setup that uses an electric motor to drive the wheels in lower speeds. At
    higher speeds it puts the car into a fixed gear. So there’s no belt-driven CVT in the Civic hybrids.

    Nice review. Honda should have used the last Insight's tail lamp design here, it would have ROCKED in the looks department. This sedan tail lamp is very Miss. It would have been better a bit slanted upwards instead of slanting downwards or red bordered the whole tail lamp.

    I need a manual. I really want to like the SI, heck even the Integra, I'd step up for the extra luxury. But I don't buy cars every other year, and just can't take a chance on the 1.5L holding up long-term. Knowing I would have to mod it right out of the box (rev hang tune, stronger head bolts to avoid blowing gaskets) really turns me off on that car

      My 2 cents: Take good care of the SI and it will take good care of you. It is a Honda after all.

    An automatic CIVIC SI----that gets 50 mpg (and shifts by itself) if this is true, then it's the PERFECT car for me.

      I'm like the opposite - I want the hybrid features and gas mileage but the si manual and sporty handling lol. I'm pretty torn between these 2.

    has this guy ever driven an SI ??? ... making a stoopid comparison like this is pretty darn embarrasing .... the SI is a performacnce sedan with great tactile responses the HYBRID is simply a vehicle that gets great MPG ... and I do put my money where my mouth is ... I own a 25 Civic SI (in white pearl)

      The hybrid has faster acceleration than the Si it has a LOT more torque, it's not just about great gas mileage, if both cars were doing 50mph on the freeway and somebody said go! The Si would be left for dust. Handling I'm not so sure about the Si in theory, it should be better as it's lighter, but most people would find the hybrid more than good enough so with the better performance and a lot better fuel economy there is really only one winner, I bet you now wish deep down you had waited a bit longer and bought the hybrid, the Si is a performance sedan with less performance than the hybrid. I have seen comparison tests side by side so I know that to be true.

      @@pillred5974 once again I reiterate (at least for me) it's not about speed ..and there's two things the hybrid will never have which contribute and make the si a contender rather than a pretender like the hybrid ... 6mt + LSD (torsen diff) ...my 25 si so far has been averaging 30+ mpg...thanks keith

    It’s far away from being automatic si as the si suspension has type r suspension parts and stiffer suspension

    • @lamesamelame
      @lamesamelame 3 месяца назад +3

      Wrong! The Dual-Axis MacPherson strut front suspension is unique to the Civic Type R.
      Maybe a few bushings are shared but that's it.

    I need Toyota to put the Prius AWD powertrain in the corolla hatch back to battle this. A hybrid GR if you will.

    • @meemka8251

      Rumor has it that the all-new 2026 Corolla will have the same power train as the Prius. Supposedly it will be unveiled sometime in 2025.

    The noise reducing magic is in the wheels not the tires.

    • @AndrewMalkin
      @AndrewMalkin 3 месяца назад

      Lots of EV tires have foam in them to help reduce noise. They also have specific tread block designs to also keep it quieter.
