I loved Black Armory (I even got the title), but in all honesty Opulence and Splicer were better seasons. I’d say Dawn and Chosen would be even higher if they had a raid or dungeon.
it was also my favorite season.. breakneck was my favorite auto with over 10k kills. the burden was an amazing sniper. miss thorn as a bow (i cant spell her name) But OMG is it my favorite bow. and jotunn... oh the most beautiful fusion rifle.. and the smithed weapons.. i could go on XD
So was mine, Evan! That’s an instant like (which I never do). I started playing with New Light (Shadowkeep launch) and Black Armory content was my favorite part. The design, the story, the guns. My Titan almost never took off my beloved curated Hammerhead. Scourge was a great raid and at that time Blacksmith was the ONLY seal I cared about, which I still proudly represent. And Anarchy became one of the greatest exotics to grace D2. What’s not to like?
I’m honestly so glad time is treating Black Armory well. I remember back during it’s first 6 months this season was mostly hated, especially the forges. Really makes you wonder how history will treat future seasons and expansions.
Agreed. I ended up loving this Season and all that it brought but I will admit that the first couple weeks of it saw a ton of backlash. I even had one of my best friends never play this game again because of the level requirement on that first forge. But looking back overall, it was such a great season. I too think the community is so quick to anger that they don't take time to appreciate things in the moment. Only once they look back.

That was the time where I stayed awake for 35 hours straight to be able to play the first forge and carry people through it. It will always go down as my personal favourite season. The weapons, the armor, the raid, the content, the characters
As a newer player who only started this year. These videos feel like Grandpa telling us stories of the good ole days when he had to kill dredges in the snow up hill both ways. Great content!
I mean the last seasons were great but there are seasons that will always be remembered as the best. Black Armory, season of opulence, and season of the Dawn had some of the coolest weapons and stories. But it wasn’t until Season of the Worthy that they felt like reversing sunsetting. But I always enjoy getting new guns or returning guns because they were worth it.
@@ajaverill08 there are a lot of dislogues that change in gambit and while talking with drifter in the tower depending on what you chose... And it's still a thing... My hunter is a "sister", and my warlock a "snitcher"...
What I wouldn't give to have Scourge of the Past back in the game. Also, my friend and I were just talking about last night that Destiny is missing a secret sauce, namely secret missions. I totally forgot about Niobe and the excitement that the community had around finding out another secret. Wish we could go back to those days sometimes.
I still remember coming in very late into Destiny 2 and I experienced the Izanagi's Burden quest, it was hectic yes but it was fun. Not to mention finishing off Sepiks (Who we later find out in this Season was one of Misraaks' pirate brothers) was so satisfying while also ending Ada-1's story. While I'm annoyed that she became a Transmog vendor, I still love her dialogue she has in the Tower. If I may say this, Evan, if Bungie ever decide to bring the Black Armory weapons back into Destiny 2, the weapons would need a LOT of reworks, not just in their perk pools like what you mentioned in your Short Video on Black Armory weapons, but they would need an Origin Perk that would make the weapons stand out.
@@visiblechanges8291 Yeah, but it was so rare to get the stuff to make an Obsidian Accelerator back then (at least for me) and since after Beyond Light, they became less used, unless you used them for fun in PvP with sunset weapons.
Origin perk for Black Armory weapons: "Forged By Hand" "This weapon's accuracy, stability, range, and handling increases on kills with this weapon and with other weapons with the same origin trait."
I finished Niobe Labs before it was vaulted and I still have the emblem and ghost shell. Wished I put enough time in to get the ship, but hopefully I can get it in the future. Also the weapons were insane
It was the opposite situation in my case. I managed to grind the 100 guns for the exotic ship (my favorite one that I still use to this day), but I could never complete Niobe Labs as I didn’t have any friends playing at that time. Trying to complete that thing via LFG was a nightmare as far as I can remember. It is one of my biggest regrets in Destiny, as I find the ghost shell and the emblem from the lab as one of the most visually appealing cosmetics in the entire game. Those two were the only things that I didn’t get from black armory DLC. I know it is basically impossible now, but I wish that Bungie finds a way to bring back Niobe as some sort of special event or flashback like they have with previous raids (even if its only temporarily for a single season or even less than a season). Sorry for the long comment...
I wish I got the ghost shell. It was bugged out in the last week available where it wouldn’t spawn ads after wave 4/5? Bungie didn’t fix it in time but I’m glad I got Ada’s emblem and the ship

Stopped playing D2 towards the end of Opulence, and every so often missed and wanted to reminisce in the cool stuff Destiny did, Black Armory being my favorite. Everything you mentioned in this video, even stuff I forgot about like the forge and pinnacle weapons as well as the forge secrets, have been a FLOOD of nostalgia I assumed was too lost to time for anyone to give a damn about. Your identifying of the stuff that has changed in the game is also appreciated, since people like me are VERY out of the loop.
I miss the black armory stuff so much. Loved the overall aesthetic of the guns and the secrets. I also enjoyed forges 😅. Hope they bring it back some day.

i loved it most of my favourite weapons are from that season and i loved ada's design too. the reid was one of my faves too. and gambit weapons at that time were amazing. bygones, break neck, parcell of stragust, trus and that crispy smg just a way to goo honestly.
Black Armory was when I started playing Destiny. It was free on Playstation Plus right around the time Black Armory launched. Being new at that time was crazy. Had all of Forsaken to wade through. The two previous DLCs, Warmind and Curse of Osiris and the Forges all available at once.

This is how crafting started tbh with ya!! we forged these weapons to get different roles we wasn’t expecting to be soooo good!!! and this was my favorite season besides season of the drifter
Looking back on how new, challenging and just suspenseful a season or DLC was make me wanna go back and play it again so bad. I just love the way they made me feel, I don’t think a small season had made me feel that way again, only major DLCs.
I came late to the party, Getting into Destiny about five months before Sunsetting. I fell in love with Black Armory and managed over 200 forge completion in that time. I miss it so much and wish I could sport my Blast Furnace and Stryker's Sure-Hand all the time. Thanks so much for this video! Much appreciated!
I will say from a content standpoint. Seasonal content is still similar. Forges are basically like expeditions in season of plunder. It’s the secrets that made black armoury memorable also the weapons where amazing.
I believe you because I was there. When we could get like 3 min supers with doom fang sentinel or striker Titan, and when threat level was the best kinetic special weapon.
Im a new player(ish?) i started playing a year ago and stopped once i got my riskrunner(5 hours playtime at most) started playing a start of august with 2 of my destiny obsessed friends. Season of the haunted was a great season to come back on. I was able to get a fully crafted without remorse and austringer and get a godrole funnelweb in a month. The candescent armour gave me a easy way to get 60+ armour. I think for returning/new players it might be one of the best seasons in a LONG time
I'd love a video on season 14. That was easily my favorite season to date. breach and clear, void warmind cell mod, anarchy and warmind cells were at full power, ignition code, Our first non-sunset kinetic GL. Good armor exotics, a decent seasonal activity and weekly mission area with NEW areas.
I remember doing 47 pulse rifle frames just to get my feeding frenzy/rampage Blast Furnace and then 19 more frames for feeding frenzy/kill clip with max range. And that was just for Blast Furnace because Hammerhead and Kindle Orchid also took a long time to get their godrolls.

I keep Hubris of Niobe and the BA Ghost shell on due to the sheer amount of love I have for this season. I'm upset I never got the ship, but I wasn't big on raiding at the time and completing all triumphs just wasn't feasible. I miss Black Armory.

Back then I couldnt afford to buy Forsaken because in my thirld world country it was really tough to buy games. Now I have all the Destiny 2 DLCs but most of forsaken, shawdowkeep and beyong light has been vaulted. Man.... Watching this videos of Destiny 2 history make me feel nostalgic for something I couldnt even play at the time.
Still my favorite set of legendary weapons ( including the forge random drops that are often overlooked ) that still hasn’t been topped imo I really want Bungie to bring them back, especially with the current perks we have flying around.
Sadly I never experienced black armory at release due to me taking a break before curse of Osiris to play other games. I did come back during opulence and the forge activity, along with the menagerie, we're some of the best activities I ever played. I would give just about anything to have the black armory weapons, activities, quests, and puzzles back.
Black armory weapons looked sick. I really hope they bring em back in the future. I had left Destiny for a while after Forsaken, and came back right before the Beyond Light sunset so I wasnt able to get all the weapons before then. At any rate, they wouldve been irrelevant as they were sunset, but still wouldve been nice to get em.
Bruh I'm sure I'm not the only one but towards the end of forges when ever you'd load into one it was in progress and would be as the mission was failing, this was a constant thing to and it was incredibly hard to progress in any of the bounties or the quest you had. My highest score in a row was like 9 before I joined a match that just stared, was insane.
I feel like there just isn’t enough good story to go around. Like stretching into stuff that just seems rather bland. Hell, where ol boy Rasputin? Last we were told he was gonna be put into an Exo. But nothing for so damn long. It’s pretty annoying.
I remember everyone having huge cry-tears on day 1 because they couldnt do the forge... on day 2 everyone was excited because they did some minor levelling and could do the forge.. by the end of the season no one cared. for me it was the best. most interesting questlines and story that theres been. exciting new weapons etc. It was a good season.
I still have some Black Armory weapons in my vault and every time i feel like using them in say strikes i get reminded and saddened by the fact that Bungie removed the radiance glows with the sunsetting especially the sword
There is one thing that you forgot tho. One of the steps you had to do for izanami’s forge is a rendition of that cabal strike on Nessus. It was higher light level, no matchmaking, and extinguish ( kicked to orbit if you die). It was like a discount nightfall for some fucking reason. So I couldn’t find anybody to run it with me so I was like “ you know what? Imma solo it myself” and dear lord it took me so many attempts but I finished it. It was the first “ endgame” level context I done that I soloed ever and it’s still one of my biggest achievements to myself in this game 😁
I still remember I got my godroll blast furnace at my 143 frame, and just 156 away from getting the ship, Oh man I hope if they ever bring these weapons back they do Justice to them.
I left after Warmind and didn’t play Forsaken until after Shadowkeep came out, thus I didn’t experience this season in its time. So, personally while I love the weapons from it and respect SotF for what it brought, Arrivals was my favorite.
I didn't play during this season. But now it makes sense. I have always said "avalanche just seems very basic in its design" when talking about dawning and its weapons. Well now I know why. It was one of the first LMGs in D2. Its actually kinda crazy that there wasn't an LMG in the game until season 4. That is wild.
Not counting The Recluse, Black Armory and the Forges had some of my all time favorite weapons. Blast Furnace, Ringing Nail, and the most amazing and most beautiful curated hammerhead.
You must be crazy to think black armory was the best dlc for destiny 2. They made it literally impossible for new players or casual players to do any of the forges. Making it so they couldn't get the weapons from them. During black armory if you didn't no life the game you couldn't do very much in game except for the basics
I completely forgot about the enemies showing up and weapons dropping a week before the season started. My god why can’t we get more stuff like this, makes the world seem alive not like just a threat comes out of literally nowhere like every single season.
True and unfortunately as a saying goes “too much of a good thing can be a bad thing” if they couldn’t top this loot then everything else would have been “what’s the point in using this new pulse when I got my god roll blast furnace” situations.
Bruh... Breakneck and Loaded Questions were BOTH goats. Maybe you were a meta slave that never actually tried them, but they were excellent weapons. Loaded Question was honestly ridiculous, I used it all the time in Crown and Scourge.
Why oh why did I only discover this game in Feb '22. The sunset content looks so damn fun, and while the witch queen campaign was awesome, content since then has felt lackluster. Hopefully the Sony money means Bungie are able to do more content like Black Armoury again
Definitely my most favorite season the weapons had great aesthetics the armor did as well including the raid armor I wish I could’ve gotten the blacksmith seal when I could tho
This was undeniably the best season so many good weapons and they were good right out of the gate which is why it was the best season because other seasons weapons just weren’t but with black armory that wasn’t the case they were good the raid is still in my top 5 because it was simple and easy to understand the mechanics which is why I loved it so much it was 10/10 season compared to really any other season to come after it
Your point about tempered dynamo being the first ever fusion to have backup plan since D1 is just flat out wrong though. The perk was already on so many Y1 and forsaken fusions
I don’t think it was the best in terms of how stuff worked in the old times, but conceptually I think it’s all there it’s perfect, I guarantee you if we got another black armory dlc that ran the same way but in our current modern destiny 2 style it would legit be even better
I spent entire weekends grinding in the various Forges. This & Menagerie we're the "Golden Years" of D2! Then it all got sunset, & out of sheer rage, I deleted D2 forever. Memories...
I absolutely love Scourge and the weapons from this season. Though I think if the forges didn’t get so boring so quickly, black armory probably would have aged even better.

What's sucks is that a lot of players like myself did the Ada 1 secret quest and they removed the wavy effect Ada had when you completed it.
I hated this too, also that they never did anything with choosing between the drifter and vanguard

Yeah they would have to make it similar to th the new iron banner perk and make the aesthetic into a shader or something

I still have a vaulted Blast Furnace with outlaw and headseeker. Not removing her until we get them back in rotation or for crafting.

Still my favorite set of legendary weapons ( including the forge random drops that are often overlooked ) that still hasn’t been topped imo
I really want Bungie to bring them back, especially with the current perks we have flying around.
Sadly I never experienced black armory at release due to me taking a break before curse of Osiris to play other games. I did come back during opulence and the forge activity, along with the menagerie, we're some of the best activities I ever played. I would give just about anything to have the black armory weapons, activities, quests, and puzzles back.
100% yes best season ever the grind felt like it had purpose and was always exciting.

The weapons were amazing but content to unlock them was garbage and the content to unlock the content to get the weapons was even worse

Black armory weapons looked sick. I really hope they bring em back in the future. I had left Destiny for a while after Forsaken, and came back right before the Beyond Light sunset so I wasnt able to get all the weapons before then. At any rate, they wouldve been irrelevant as they were sunset, but still wouldve been nice to get em.
Black armory and Season of Opulence were so fun imho and i absolutely loved them and i genuinely miss both :(

Bruh I'm sure I'm not the only one but towards the end of forges when ever you'd load into one it was in progress and would be as the mission was failing, this was a constant thing to and it was incredibly hard to progress in any of the bounties or the quest you had. My highest score in a row was like 9 before I joined a match that just stared, was insane.

I think we're gonna need this season again, since history seems to be repeating itself now.
I feel like there just isn’t enough good story to go around. Like stretching into stuff that just seems rather bland.
Hell, where ol boy Rasputin? Last we were told he was gonna be put into an Exo. But nothing for so damn long. It’s pretty annoying.

The sword is special because it was the first ever sword with surrounded and it can do crazy damages when other swords can’t back then.

Personally a bigger fan of season of opulence bc forge was not very accessible without grinding light iirc. Both were banger seasons tho.
I would like Volundr Forge back, just to farm it. It was nice!
I still have my hammerhead and blast furnace sitting in my vault. Classics.
The fact that the seasonal content itself had a community wide puzzle alone makes it better than the rest...period.

I remember everyone having huge cry-tears on day 1 because they couldnt do the forge... on day 2 everyone was excited because they did some minor levelling and could do the forge.. by the end of the season no one cared.
for me it was the best. most interesting questlines and story that theres been. exciting new weapons etc. It was a good season.
I still have some Black Armory weapons in my vault and every time i feel like using them in say strikes i get reminded and saddened by the fact that Bungie removed the radiance glows with the sunsetting especially the sword

There is one thing that you forgot tho. One of the steps you had to do for izanami’s forge is a rendition of that cabal strike on Nessus. It was higher light level, no matchmaking, and extinguish ( kicked to orbit if you die). It was like a discount nightfall for some fucking reason.
So I couldn’t find anybody to run it with me so I was like “ you know what? Imma solo it myself” and dear lord it took me so many attempts but I finished it. It was the first “ endgame” level context I done that I soloed ever and it’s still one of my biggest achievements to myself in this game 😁
I still remember I got my godroll blast furnace at my 143 frame, and just 156 away from getting the ship, Oh man I hope if they ever bring these weapons back they do Justice to them.
I left after Warmind and didn’t play Forsaken until after Shadowkeep came out, thus I didn’t experience this season in its time. So, personally while I love the weapons from it and respect SotF for what it brought, Arrivals was my favorite.
This and season 9 were my favorites
I didn't play during this season. But now it makes sense. I have always said "avalanche just seems very basic in its design" when talking about dawning and its weapons. Well now I know why. It was one of the first LMGs in D2. Its actually kinda crazy that there wasn't an LMG in the game until season 4. That is wild.

Not counting The Recluse, Black Armory and the Forges had some of my all time favorite weapons. Blast Furnace, Ringing Nail, and the most amazing and most beautiful curated hammerhead.
I miss this season ,love the guns and armor. Wish the guns get back like they brought the armor back
Glad to say I have Blacksmith. Hated the power creep initially but I’ve come to respect it’s difficulty on release
You must be crazy to think black armory was the best dlc for destiny 2.
They made it literally impossible for new players or casual players to do any of the forges. Making it so they couldn't get the weapons from them.
During black armory if you didn't no life the game you couldn't do very much in game except for the basics
I completely forgot about the enemies showing up and weapons dropping a week before the season started. My god why can’t we get more stuff like this, makes the world seem alive not like just a threat comes out of literally nowhere like every single season.
This says more about the studio who developed this Seasonal Content than anything. Well done.

True and unfortunately as a saying goes “too much of a good thing can be a bad thing” if they couldn’t top this loot then everything else would have been “what’s the point in using this new pulse when I got my god roll blast furnace” situations.
Bruh... Breakneck and Loaded Questions were BOTH goats. Maybe you were a meta slave that never actually tried them, but they were excellent weapons. Loaded Question was honestly ridiculous, I used it all the time in Crown and Scourge.
Why oh why did I only discover this game in Feb '22. The sunset content looks so damn fun, and while the witch queen campaign was awesome, content since then has felt lackluster. Hopefully the Sony money means Bungie are able to do more content like Black Armoury again

Black armoury had the best weapons and armour looks are TOP G then any other season
This was undeniably the best season so many good weapons and they were good right out of the gate which is why it was the best season because other seasons weapons just weren’t but with black armory that wasn’t the case they were good the raid is still in my top 5 because it was simple and easy to understand the mechanics which is why I loved it so much it was 10/10 season compared to really any other season to come after it

Your point about tempered dynamo being the first ever fusion to have backup plan since D1 is just flat out wrong though. The perk was already on so many Y1 and forsaken fusions
I don’t think it was the best in terms of how stuff worked in the old times, but conceptually I think it’s all there it’s perfect, I guarantee you if we got another black armory dlc that ran the same way but in our current modern destiny 2 style it would legit be even better

I spent entire weekends grinding in the various Forges. This & Menagerie we're the "Golden Years" of D2!
Then it all got sunset, & out of sheer rage, I deleted D2 forever.

I absolutely love Scourge and the weapons from this season. Though I think if the forges didn’t get so boring so quickly, black armory probably would have aged even better.
