Thanks for filming the fuel boat. I've done my best to explain fuel boats to my American friends but haven't done a very good job. Fuel Boat Halsall serves us in Park Farm Marina. I haven't yet met Ian but I can tell you that Rachel is a lovely person. Please support the fuel boats. If we don't use them, we'll surely lose them!
Yes please. More of these videos please. I am a primary school teacher and our school is situated next to the Leeds Liverpool canal near the 5 Rise Locks at Bingley. The nursery children particularly enjoy watching old videos on You Tube of Rosie and Jim but now I have told them about the cafe boat and William who has lived on a boat and will be doing so again just like Rosie and Jim do! They love watching the boats.
How lovely im sure I would have been fascinated by this as a child. My Gran and grandads garden backed on to the Rochdale canal were I learned to fish and grow vegetables. Those were the days but i won't mention how I learned to swim think it would be frowned on these days. I will leave that to your imagination.😂😂
I'm a kiwi living in Darwin Australia at the moment, but up until May of last year I lived in the Velvet Mill for a couple of years in Bradford and regularly rode up the Liverpool Leeds Canal to Silsden, or down to the start (or end) of the canal in Leeds
You have to love Mark, only he could get a boat stuck in a lock :) A great video, we have bought fuel, coal and gas from Rachel on Halsall. The fuel boats do a great job xx
I met the guy with the angle grinder a week ago moving a boat through where I am a VLK. In all my years working there I have never seen someone turn into the Rufford branch like he did, fantastic boat handling skills! He is a fascinating character who grew up on a boat, you should do a whole video on him.
Ahh Vic what an adventure and experience. With wheelbarrows put as much weight as possible to the front of the wheelbarrow. This makes it easier to lift and less likely to strain yourself. It is really great to have you guys back. Mark Alberta, Canada
Hi There Vic Jo and William , Hope All are well , Great video , watching the fuel boat was so interesting , yes it looks like hard work , well done Vic for Helping , Thank you for sharing , take care All .👍👍🌅
I liked it, this kind of warts and all video with things going wrong (as they inevitably do) and showing the actual reality of canal life is eye opening, thanks for sharing it, and yes I’d like to see more! Best Andy.
Nice video, Vik. As someone that knows nothing about boating or narrowboats (but watch your videos religiously), I feel like this was a glimpse behind the curtain. Certainly learned something new. Greetings from Germany!
This is a great little documentary that would be a good introduction to life on the cut for people who know little or nothing about it. Too bad it can't be shared on Facebook. I share quite a few of your videos, but this one is for some reason a no-go.
7:34 Very interesting and informative film about peoples work on the canals. The film showcased all the essential work that takes place on the canal system.
I wish there was a fuel boat on the GU by Leamington Spa! I used to see Jules Fuels all the time when I lived in Milton Keynes but never once in over a year of mooring between Napton and Lapworth.
We use wheelbarrows because of restricted space at the wharf edge. Pallet truck couldn't cope with the uneven stone and mooring rings etc., all for a reason 👍
Vic, you sound like a story from "The wind in the willows" a TV kids programme (from many years back) with live animals, scale model boats and buildings with a voice over 🙂
To answer your comment about more videos like these, yes, please! I am sure there is a lot that happens on the canals that viewers do not know about; you can show us!
I really dig, this new type of material! I've watched 1000 NB vids and have never seen a boat stuck because of width, is this just common with old boats? I guess the locks fall inward as you said and the boats were slightly bigger. Great vid. Wish it was longer!
Will you guys be around London in May? My son and his wife are taking a cruse and will be in London, I told them they needed to check to see if Holy would be close so they could stop and say hello and get some good food. !!!
Pretty good work to get the fuel boat through that the lock. Did they use a winch to pull the two sides in ? We'll fund a dolly for you to get the coal into the boat. With pneumatic rubber tyres
Most if not all historic working narrowboats have tensioning chains under the cross planks to resist outward forces on the hull sides when fully loaded. They can't also be used to pull the hull sides in in situations like this.
Yes please. More of these videos please. Interesting to see how they will get this boat unstuck. Have a lovely day.

The fuel boat skippers & crews are all such lovely helpful people & you have to admire their boat handling skills.

I used to love Rosie & Jim, and wonder why it is not shown now? xxx

Thank you for showing the realty of narrowboats.
Fascinating video Vic....more please 👍
That bit after 4:10 brings to mind that it's less being afraid of heights and more being afraid of lithobraking at the base of said heights.
Excellent! Great to see the workings of life on the canal.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Makes you realise the canals are so much more than just the boaters…
Hard work is good for the soul, as are videos like this...hope you are all settling in ok back on the water. Keep smiling x

You answered some questions…interesting to say the least

loved the style of this! I can’t believe how causal they were about chopping off a bit of the boat 😂
Needs must! 👍
Excellent Vic, was wondering when we'd see this; nicely put together.
From Paul. Volunteer crew on NB Alton. Thanks for your help and this video! 👍👍👍
Miss seeing the whole family but honestly! Love It!
Oh ..lovely having you back on boats!

Great again Vic.
Great to see some familiar faces 👋👋
I liked it, this kind of warts and all video with things going wrong (as they inevitably do) and showing the actual reality of canal life is eye opening, thanks for sharing it, and yes I’d like to see more! Best Andy.
That was a different and interesting diversion!
Hi Vic and family loved seeing you back on boat, hope you have fantastic summer with holy doing great. Love to all. 😊
That was fun watching.
LOVED IT!! Something totally different and hope you can show more in future episodes. Hugs
Nice video, Vik. As someone that knows nothing about boating or narrowboats (but watch your videos religiously), I feel like this was a glimpse behind the curtain. Certainly learned something new. Greetings from Germany!
Loved the content. Always learn something new from you.
Very interesting. You did a great job. Thanks for showing how the stuck narrowboat got out of the lock. Have a wonderful weekend. Cheers!
Good to see you're keeping busy and helping others, Vic.
that was interesting. I look forward to your vlogs. I enjoy seeing William grow and improve his speech.
That was an interesting video showing real life trading on the canals. Fantastic Vic.
Wow this looks like back breaking work Vic
That was fun! I did wonder how that boat got unstuck
This is all so very interesting. Thank you for sharing.
Very good thanks for sharing
Excellent comment as always 😃 informative and entertaining 😊😎⭐️👍
That was great.. Its a history lesson and part of the present. Love it thank you 🙏
I really enjoyed watching that, thanks !
Nice one, Vic. Very interesting!
Thank you, Vic, that was fascinating…
I enjoyed the trip.
So great to see behind the scenes of how the canal works, one big family love it💠beautiful, not surprised at all great production
😅Thankyou for that! I’ve often wondered about those fuel boats and now I know? I’d bet that you had lots of aches and pains after all that hard work.
So interesting to see this behind-the-scenes video, thanks.
Great video!
Fascinating!

What a lovely video good information
So interesting!! Thanks!!
Enjoyed video, You take care and have a great weekend 😀
That was really interesting Vic, glad you made the video...thank you...hope you three are settling back into Zero 🙂
Suzy
Always fascinating, fun content.❤❤
Nice one.
I couldn't help but notice a nice forklift in the background, would have been handy to use that for the pallet of coal rather than the wheelbarrow.
We have to use wheelbarrows due to restricted space at the wharf edge. The forklift is used elsewhere in the yard.
Absolutely fascinating. Thanks so much! 🤗
Interesting video thank you for sharing ❤
Very interesting video - really enjoyed it!
7:34 Very interesting and informative film about peoples work on the canals. The film showcased all the essential work that takes place on the canal system.
That was a really nice video
Well done - it's hard work isn't it! One day William will be biking ahead for you... scary eh?
I wish there was a fuel boat on the GU by Leamington Spa! I used to see Jules Fuels all the time when I lived in Milton Keynes but never once in over a year of mooring between Napton and Lapworth.
Great to see how this all works - the coal delivery etc. But all those plastic bags😢
A pallet jack would move the pallet of bags, closer to the boat therefor quicker and less human body strain.
We use wheelbarrows because of restricted space at the wharf edge. Pallet truck couldn't cope with the uneven stone and mooring rings etc., all for a reason 👍

Another groovy episode
Oh wow, more of this.

Do you with Brian & Ann Marie on Elton? Remember them well when we were on our boat Longdog they were brilliant such a lovely couple 😊 Jane
Do you work sorry.😂
Coal and coffee sort of goes together.

Wow this was interesting 🧐
That was really interesting! X😂
Speaking of moving mountains of coal, and backs, and drizzling rain, there is a famous song (here in the US) about that titled "Sixteen Tons".
"Another day older and deeper in debt......."
Will you guys be around London in May? My son and his wife are taking a cruse and will be in London, I told them they needed to check to see if Holy would be close so they could stop and say hello and get some good food. !!!
Cool.

Very interesting 🚢⛴️🛳️
A little new content now and again is always nice. But how is your back now? 😓
I might be mistaken, but think that is Brian on Alton?
And me 👍
Maybe one day there will be Holly the Fuel Boat!!!
