Them Nashville people would never let Garth Brooks have a Wurlitzer electric piano solo, dry as a bone, panned hard left, for a good portion of the song…but Chris Gaines could get away with it! In hindsight, the 90s were way more experimental than they seemed at the time. I mean, just the fact that this album exists is a testament to that! One could argue that the old “music industry” peaked in the mid-90s. Garth was larger than life…it seems that image was suffocating to him in ways and he needed to do this! I’m so glad he did. More artists should dare to be so bold!
I forgot about this album. I did the catering when they were filming videos for the album. I thought it was great that Garth Brooks had an alter ego with his own history. More artists should do that.
On of my favorite ones is Mac millers alter ego. He really loved making music and I guess he just founded it really fun but thought it wouldn’t do well cuz it strayed from his usual stuff.
I’m pretty sure an ex business partner released it without Garth’s permission. Garth had it buried for years. I had the cd as a kid but lost it in time. Been looking for two songs from it ever since. I’m glad to see it see the light of day again.
This song ? should have gone gold or platinum.....it is a perfect expression of first love....however flawed ? The passion of the memories is absolute.....the beauty of absolute devotion to that connection....before we grew and became jaded ...when we gave ALL ....and yes? it was ridiculous , dramatic, overdone and overwrought.....that love before we had obligations, responsibilities etc....when LOVE was EVERYTHING .....for some it was HS , for others? college......but it was the most important thing in our lives and we lived it that way.......then we grew up...and realised the importance of all the boringadult things....jobs, bills, insurance, car payments, mortgage , kids - education, extracurriculars , health, drs dds etc.....all those necessary banalities of "real life" which can diminish romance...at the very least ? change it ....ironically? There is nothing as "romantic" as sharing those responsibilities together and uniting to do all the mundane parts of life......still? it is pretty normal to miss/ wax nostalgic for the time when LOVE had no responsibility except feeding the emotion ......
Has Garth given up on trying to memory hole this?? There was a time on RUclips that this wouldn’t have lasted a second lol thank God Garth has come to his senses here
From Wikipedia: Garth Brooks in...the Life of Chris Gaines, also titled Greatest Hits, is an album by American country music artist Garth Brooks, in which Brooks assumes the fictitious persona of Australian rock artist Chris Gaines. Originally, this album was intended to be the soundtrack for a movie called The Lamb that would star Brooks as a rock star recalling the different periods of his life. This album was purposely released a year in advance from the scheduled film release date to pique interest in Brooks performing rock instead of country. The Lamb, however, was never filmed due to financial and management problems.
I can play this on repeat! Wish Garth would do another! ❤
My African mom had this CD album years ago and lost it, and now I finally found it digitally !!!she was so happy thank you.
That time Garth went emo-pop, and Hootie (Darius) went country...that's the way I remember it...
It took guts to do this album, and I, for one, am over the moon thankful he did it. Fantastic piece of work.
Chris gains is amazing...❤
Chris Gaines aka Garth Brooks... this is his best work.

I hope this guy gets the exposure he deserves one day.
This is just Garth Brook's alter ego.
This man has had plenty of exposure. It’s country superstar Garth Brooks in the role of Chris Gaines, for a film that never got released.
I’m right there with you. Whoever this Chris Gaines guy is, I hope we get to hear more from him.
Yea fr this guys kinda good 🤔
It’s Garth brooks pplz. Weird but true.
LOVED THIS ALBUM!!!!!
Same.. takes me back to my highschool days instantly
I loved this album.

He actually had 2 delusional Thomas and Larry fisherman
I loved it. Still love it.
How come we just don't hear anything from Chris Gaines anymore?!
❤❤I would love to see him rerelease this album.
It already is an album, search for "Garth Brooks, in the life of Chris Gains"
After the last 2 decades of soulless pop music, I no longer ridicule Garth for going there. Never thought I’d say it 😂
X2 🤷
Thank you for sharing this! Been looking for it to share for years

Excellent point ❤
rest in peace pops sept 3rd 2024
Garth brooks is amazing artist
Who came from Danny’s video?
Was behind the bar and some dude told me to look this up.
He said it was Rock and im disappointed
yep!
Yes I'm from the video
Only Chris knows where the bodies are buried..
I think Garth keeps Chris hidden away for that exact reason. I think Chris’s lips might be a bit looser than G.
Has Garth given up on trying to memory hole this?? There was a time on RUclips that this wouldn’t have lasted a second lol thank God Garth has come to his senses here
I thought the album is going to weird but it's really gooood❤
Garth Brooks never sounded better.
To this day it’s still the best music he ever produced. I’m not really a Garth fan, but there were some real gems on this album.
The king of country music
@@joshjohnston2065I actually agree with you. It is my favourite iteration of Garth as well
@@dillowman8 Fr usually his music is mid
I saw this dude open up for Depeche Mode at the rose land ballroom in NYC.. great show and then he disappear
Lol! That was a killer show!
I saw him at L'Amour opening for Anthrax and Biohazard and the following year when he opened for Motorhead at The Ritz.
This actually has some good cuts.
I can’t find it on iTunes, sadly.
Goth Brooks
Believe it or not. This is Garth Brooks. He did this album a long time ago as a character named Chris Gaines.
no this is cameron stallworth
I don't believe you
