Did the same job on my 2001 Firebird last year and finally got the lowering brackets installed recently. Its a must when you lower your car. The suspension angle will change at the lower control arms and you will lose traction when you launch . I used BMR springs and KYB shocks.
This video helped me tremendously!!! Thanks a bunch, did it in my garage in about an hr with home tools. Plz make more man. Good job on explaining and POV
I still got the fronts to do. I can't use the brackets for the springs cause they rusted. I need to get new hardware. Car ls in the garage in peices. I drove it with the rears and felt the difference. Can't wait to have it all done
Just watched this video. I just got a 2000 SS. 6 spd of course. And I’m looking at the same sway bar lowering kit from UMI. Did it make a world of difference with handling
Have you ever thought about doing the heater hose mod on the spring? It gets rid of the rubber piece that goes on top of the spring and lowers it about another inch
u think getting this kit for my v6 be suitable? the oem stock spring rates are different in the front from the ss/z28 , idk how much it would change the feel of the car , only asking to see how quality ride it is
The ride is going to be much stiffer. Hard bumps will not be as smooth. It is great on smooth roads and in the turns. The SS and Z28's comes with a tighter supsension than the V6 since they are higher end models. Be sure you use rubber bump stops.
It rides pretty damn rough on bumpy roads at high speed. Barely anything on smooth roads. Have to be cautious om speed bumps. I put polyurethane bump stops to prevent bottoming out
@@chemicalspore its this that is making me NOT want to even try the Strano springs and shocks honestly. I have heard people say keep the stock springs and add stranos thicker sway bars front and rear with upgraded shocks instead. I may just go this route. Thanks for the honest evaluation. My 2002 vert is spongy at the moment even with only 5,000 miles on stock suspension. Just want to tighten it up some.
I was thinking of getting a slight drop in the front with the lower perch along with the heater hose mod in the rear. Would like a better stance with my 2002 vert without lowering springs? Ive heard good and bad with lowering springs. I would think the koni yellows would be an upgrade over stock shocks no matter what springs?
Maybe I will get into it. I was monetized on youtube and then I was demonetized. I really havent had the desire to make videos since I have been having issues with trying to fix it.

Check my channel out, lots of how to's.
I love it brother!! Awesome job! I really enjoyed it! I can’t wait to see it finished!
Thanks my man. The front is pissing me off at the moment
Very nice video....I am waiting to see how you like those konis…………..Well done

Thanks for the tutorial, really made sense and can't wait to do my shocks.
"I dont just talk about tools I USE THEM" Hell yea brother

Mine is just regular everyday street car. Just looking for better stability on backroads and highway..
It makes a huge difference on hard take offs and hard turns

Nah. Car hangs low enough as it is. My cut out sometimes hit speed bumps.
Chemical Spore hey since you lowered your car and you have the RLCA but theyre not the adjustable ones, did they mess up or they’re working fine?
@@camaroguy4390 Sorry, just now saw this. I bought a adjustable panhard bar. works great
Good video I doing this right now. This help a lot. 👍
Good luck. Let me know how it goes

Is that uneven suspension hurting your door line? Ya know, the gap seam to the quarter panel?
Nah. It's a Chevy
Awesome looks like fun

yes sir
So how is the ride now that car is lowered? Any scraping or bottoming out?

@San Diego that’s the plan. I only purchased car late last year. I was lucky enough to find one with this low mileage.
What do you think of the koni yellows on lower perch with heater hose mod on rear without lowering springs?
It might stress the shocks out. The socks were made for lowering springs.

Good video man
Thank you
Mind dropping the link for the lowering shocks? Please

What did you do with these factory springs?
I keep all the original parts from the car in storage
How's the ride quality?
Its not bad. Car sticks in turns better than stock. I recommend getting rear coil overs for a better over all ride
Does the rear bottom spring insulator have a part number?

What kind of wrenches were those?
Gear Wrench Ratcheting wrenches
Hey where's your manual?
Lol. No
I feel like the pictures on UMI's website have the car lowered a lot more than yours
You have to let the suspension sit . Usually takes a couple days, especially after driving around.
@@chemicalspore you should post an update on how yours settled id be curious to see it

Certainly not the misses, mrs?
