In the beginning Jimmy's show was pretty bad and one night he said the show sucked, he was feeling down so he joked and said "sorry to Matt Damon we ran out of time" which amused the producers so he started doing it every night. A couple years later Matt Damon responded with this song and the gag continues today. BTW Jimmy said Matt Damon was just the first name that came to his mind back then.
