Taken from the seminal 'Lonely is an Eyesore' album, this is The Wolfgang Press' contribution. Released in 1987, 'Lonely is an Eyesore' was more than just a regular compilation, being made available on all formats as well as a super limited edition box. The box is still coveted by hardcore 4AD fans to this day... and was limited to just 100 copies.

"Lonely Is An Eyesore", MTV'S "120 Minutes" was pivotal in my life. It showed me the gold to the left of the dial and removed me from the shit that is Top 40 music.
Damn right. I used to have a stack of VHS recordings of 120 minutes. I miss those even though they were crap quality.
Agreed, they played 120 minutes even in the late 2000's on vh1 classic, and I discovered some stuff, you would also like some death/dark metal stuff, very experimental.

I saw these guys supporting the Pixies in Queens Hall, Edinburgh about 30 years ago. Two of the best bands around at the time. Sometimes you get lucky with support bands too!
It seems they gained more exposure via This Mortal Coil. This is far mellower than their typical work. Try Kansas, Shut That Door, & Dig A Hole. I also like the two albums they put out after they left 4AD. Seriously talented band! I'll never forget the title "I Am The Crime".

My magical memory of my youth times
i was 15 when i bought this. now i'm 90.
One of the bands which directly influenced me to form the band and start making music and I've been making for last 31 years. Thank you Wolfgang Press, Mick, Marc, Andy and 4AD.

Lucky enough to see them twice, second time, I got to meet them backstage...
Saw them in Kansas City promoting Queer. Very small club (The Shadow), but a killer performance. I was praying they'd play Shut That Door, and they did!
I was introduced to this band via their cover of Mama Told Me Not To Come. It's nice to hear them again.
Great cover! And Queer is a seriously groovy album. I love Funky Little Demons as well, but I think a lot of fans thought they went a bit commercial and dropped them. They never sold out. Songs like Christianity & Executioner were never designed to be chart toppers!

Oh how much I have always wanted the ltd edition box - I have a friend who managed to buy one which almost makes it worse for me as now it’s a tactile experience - one I can’t have in my collection! I love you 4AD thank you for years of sound, radiant and dark alike 🙏
