Excellent advice. I spent 10 days in France mainly in Paris. Thats how I dressed like the local people - chic, comfortable and effortless. I continue to dress like Parisiennes when I return to the US.
Parisian style is the best and the one that makes me feel who I am. Every time I visit the city, people mistake me for a French. I always think that you must always respect the traditions and style of the city or country you visit. Paris will always have a place of privilege in my heart. I certainly enjoy your channel!
I am literally watching this in New York waiting for my car to take me to the airport! Flying to Paris tonight for my birthday and Beyoncé. Thanks for confirming my packing choices, whew! About to throw a pair of leather leggings into the suitcase but the scarves I will be buying in Paris. Wonderful video as always❤
Love love love this video! Your black dress with the scalloped edges is perfection! Would you consider doing a video focused on accessories, hats, scarves, jewelry, belts, that sort of thing? How you would style those items?
Most of my favourite pieces of clothing is French. I always feel elegant wearing them, some of which are over 20 years old and still look like new! People always ask where I purchased them.❤
I like your simple but feminine style - this is what I associate with Parisian style. A handful of well fitting quality basics in neutral colours and some beautiful feminine accessories (I include hair & make-up in this) et voila :) I am sure you will agree that it seems simple enough, but there is a lot of behind the scenes work, which starts with: - Deciding that this is how you want to dress, sticking to it and not getting side tracked. - Discovering which neutrals and cuts suit you, (not everyone looks great n black) - Putting together a list of the basics you need for your lifestyle - not someone else's. - Reviewing your wardrobe, identifying gaps, then putting together a shopping list. - Going shopping - it takes time to shop and try on lots of clothes. - Not getting sidetracked by other items not on your list. There is so much choice out there. - Arranging alterations if needed for a perfect fit. The French inspired way of dressing is smart - a small wardrobe of elegant, feminine and timeless clothes that all mix and match, saves money and time spent shopping. Then add a few wow accessories that don't need to cost a lot and are easier to shop for. OK, I'm off now to my wardrobe to have another clear-out.
Yes, you are right. Silk scarves elevate a look greatly. I did several courses in silk painting this year. It's a lot of fun and I like to wear them in addition to the ones I've bought ... 🌈🌞😇
You are correct about not showing your butt when out and about wearing leggings. I am so sick of seeing Americans not following that rule. I don't want to see it when I am in my grocery store. Very nice video. Thank you.
This is great. I will bookmark this for my 2024 trip to France. I have all these pieces and I think it will be possible to wear my coat and pack the rest in one carry-on, as I hate to check a bag and risk its being lost. I have never been in Paris when it is hot, it always seems temperate to me, and I love rain. Wonderful advice, Alice. Thank you!
@@Aliceinparisofficial That would be wonderful, Alice, thank you. I know you will pick the right items. Heavier pieces can be worn while traveling to and from France, and the rest can be in the carryon. We are also planning an excursion to Lyon for a few days, but I imagine whatever I can wear in Paris, would work for Lyon too.
Yay, a new show! Wonderfully inspiring again! Do you know what I was thinking today? Paris and you, you and Paris, you are ONE! Thank you very much ... 😇🍷😍🥂☘😎

@@Aliceinparisofficial this is so helpful to know! I’m assuming early June can be a mix of spring/summer weather so we’re definitely planning on layering.
@@irisflower9030 yes you can take some linen pieces if weather allows (usually linen for July and august) but definitely a cardigan for morning or if it rains

Hi Alice, love this video and seeing such beautiful and chic examples 😍Can you please tell me what is the brand of handbag for the two crossbody bags you showed side by side at end of handbag segment? I have been considering the Leo et Violette Le Grand Nova (as an alternative to the Celine Classic) and this one is also so similar. Thank you!
Wore beige straight leg pants white long sleeve crisp shirt navy blue blazer, navy shoes, navy and yellow print silk scarf, gold small hoop earrings To fly to a wedding, two people stopped me at the airport to ask directions! They thought I worked for the airline! Where did I go wrong, I thought I looked good😮
We will be there in mid august 2023. Thought that I would wear a dress and with white sneakers , what if any third layer would u suggest and what is the weather like in mid August? Hot? Rain? New to your channel. New subscriber. Ty
Hello usually very warm but some chilly day could happen and this is the case right now in Paris (20-22 °C). So cardigan, gilet and sweater just in case. A tweed jacket can also works.
I spent my whole career working in San Francisco and we had similar rules for “The City”. We could always tell who the tourists were by their sneakers, leggings, backpacks and the cheap souvenir sweatshirts they picked up here. These were because they packed only for “normal” hot weather in July or August, then froze upon arrival. We locals wore leather footwear, regular, non-athletic day clothes and trench coats, blazers or peacoats. I retired some time ago and I expect that, like the rest of the US, it’s more casual now. I don’t think the super-casualization of dress here in the US is a good thing. I’ve always preferred skirts and dresses, and they were the normal daytime attire for women until about 2000, but for some reason they’re considered too fancy nowadays. I’m older and have never found a pair of jeans that fit my straight shape even reasonably well, and I’m tired of always shopping for, and wasting money on, them. I don’t understand why they’re considered comfortable, they are the least comfortable garment ever on me. My mother couldn’t wear them, either, it’s the way we’re shaped, very short-waisted. More power to anyone who likes them, though.
I agree it's gotten WAAaY too casual for comfort. The pajamas in public era ( don't see as often now ) almost put me over the edge. 😂 Like you I prefer dresses, jeans are too constricting.
As a lifelong photographer I have always appreciated female beauty. I have studied the magazines and photographed models in the studio in Chicago. I have seen very beautiful brides and wedding guests. If I go into a bookstore or an art gallery show or if I go to Ikea, I always notice someone wearing a dress. It amazes me that a woman would chooses to wear something other than a dress to places and events such as these.
thanks for the information - question: how about prints? i'm looking to take advantage of the "trench coat capital" when i visit this september. one of my trench coats is a soft pink with small off white polka dots...the other is orange..... unsure.......
I watch a RUclips channel called Parisian Street Style…….and I see what I see in most big cities, some people look good some people look average and some people look like they don’t care.
Hello Debbie people in the street are not all parisian. A lot of tourists, french from others cities ect... big difference in terms of style, culture and mindset between a French who is living in other city and someone living in Paris.
So they look lovely the way you've styled them, but my fellow Americans who live in leggings and sweatpants have turned me off of them indefinitely 😂. I also just don't find leggings or anything that skin-tight to be comfortable anyway.
I want to outlaw leggings as day wear 😂. I feel like they make a person look like they are all sweaty and smelly because of the gym association but also because leggings are made out of synthetic fabric that holds onto odor and isn’t breathable like natural fibers (cotton, silk, etc). It’s also skin tight so it really is right up in the crotch area.
I’m an American and really wish Americans would stop wearing leggings out in public as well. It’s obvious they’re not working out but instead are lazy.
The Paris color scheme is horrible on me, a pale blonde. I love wild bright colors, and even get many compliments in the U.S. and Japan! I’m more bohemian designer than designer designer. It’s funny, but as I’ve gotten older, I have things I absolutely won’t wear: not because they aren’t stylish or attractive, but they are not good on me, to include man-tailored shirts, horizontal stripes, etc.
Love all of this! Please make a summer/hot weather guide.
Excellent advice. I spent 10 days in France mainly in Paris. Thats how I dressed like the local people - chic, comfortable and effortless. I continue to dress like Parisiennes when I return to the US.
It’s amazing how much ❤ a silk scarf elevates a casual look with sneakers. Lovely.
