Yes, AZ has higher risk for blood clots, especially among younger people and for females.. so for example, most European agencies recommend that younger women do not receive AZ.. instead they recommend AZ for elderly (it’s low risk for elderly).. I’m sorry to hear about your losses.. In Thailand, some people have died from AZ too
@@kodaph same thing. Scandanavian countries has temporarily banned Moderna for children, and atleast one nation has limit Pfizer to one vaccine , because of the blood clot issue.
That is correct seen in India as well. Covaxin which is like Sinovac had hardly any severe adverse reaction - best to go with tried and tested tech. Also, since inactivated viruses will be imprinted in the bone marrow, need for boosters should not be there as antibodies will be produced whenever required
I have chosen the Sinovac because I believe that it is safer, for it uses a traditional and safe proven technology. I'm afraid that other types of vaccines may have long-term effects for they are developed fast so there is not enough time to research their long-term effects.
Seriously you are afraid what 0.5ml of liquid can do to your body that contains well over 14,000 ml of water and plasma??? Every day You eat or drink way more than 0.5ml of dangerous toxic stuffs like alcohol, processed meat etc that causes way more harm to your own body anyway!

Great video! I just got fully vaccinated with sinovac and after a month, I contracted covid. I was shocked when the result came out positive as I did not experience any symptoms at all. Thats how I knew that the vaccine is indeed effective.
On the 1st wave of covid there wasn't any vaccines & mask was scarce so I got infected & had mild symptoms then recovered. Nothing to do with any vaccine.
@@johnfinley6885 Must have got lucky, I was doing Ketogenic diet for a year already was at a perfect health when I got covid. At first I didn't know I had covid19 cuz I had no fever & the rest of the symptoms.
Six months or a year ago I wanted to watch this video but now I don't really care: I am not concerned about vaccine effectiveness, only side-effects. I want the vaccine with the least side-effects and risk, even if it is ineffective.
In my country, they discriminate the sinovac since its made from China. They preferred other brands. I got vaccinated with sinovac. I think Sinovac is the most mild vaccine available.
My father was fully vaccinated with sinovac he was infected covid19 and test positive but he was not hospitalized with only mild symptoms and gets well now. He was 94 years old now last November 2021.
I find it a bit hypocritical that when countries that used Western vaccines have rising cases and numerous breakthrough cases it's never because of the vaccine. But when a country that used Sinovac has rising infections, the vaccine's effectiveness is always questioned.
And behaviors. Vaccines are only one piece of the puzzle (positive or negative). To be clear, this video explicitly does not equate any positive or negative trend in case as being the result of vaccines.
the media is misleading. THe two vaccine gives different types of immunity. THe problem with Western vaccine , is their defense maybe stronger, but it is monolithic, and will go obsolete. all of them have the flaw of only attacking 4 antigens on the spike. Chinese attack the entire virus. It is definitely not as good in preventing illness. THe Western vaccine is geared to give a strong and quick response, but the Chinese will continue to prevent serious illness when mutation makes the other vaccine useless. Remember what is being said now. THe virus is here to stay. THis is now coming from WHO. It was naive to think that the vaccine will stop the virus, but our goal from the beginning and since we now know for sure, the goal now is to get our immunity to the point of making an infection to be as serious as the cold. THe Western Vaccine is far limited in doing this. It will help when we get infected with current variants, and the Western vaccine will prevent serious illness ad that it would be used only for the vulnerable so we can let the healthy get it , but the US plan has no direction. It's still trying to end the virus when we can't even vaccinate the whole world. They think that unvaccinated in America is creating new variants that is killing the vaccinated, but he have countries that are barely vaccinated, and we are allowing them to travel through our latin America to get here.
Why would you trust China? They are the one who spread the virus?? Don't trust china vaccine. I'm not from US but i will trurst US Vaccine instead of chinese vaccine
Thank you. I got both doses of SINOVAC in April and in May . I have comorbids. Early August I got infected but symptoms were very mild. So your family fully vaccinated and all of them got it? I was unvaccinated and never got infected or fell sick once after 18 months of exposure to coronavirus. Natural immunity works.
@@jimmyhor78 Most likely you are very lucky that you have never exposed to the coronavirus. I worked at home for 18 months and went out only once a week for food shopping. I hadn't been sick. Simple question why countries with sinovac vaccine more quickly decline daily cases than other vaccine. Compare Indonesia with Malaysia and US with Chile?
Simply put, incidence of a transmissible disease is the result of a complex and wide set of variables. These factors include existing (and cross) immunity, factors related to the pathogen itself (in this case, variants of SARS-CoV-2), individual behaviors (mask usage, travel habits, etc), and societal factors. Vaccines also play a role in that. On top of that are large differences between countries in how infections are detected and reported. Altogether, observations in incidence across countries don't provide any information about any single factor. Instead, as I shared in this video, factors have to be isolated and confounding factors have to be accounted for in order to understand the role of individual factors. This is basic idea behind study design and is the core curriculum in a public health or epidemiology program. On the other hand, if you make an observation (e.g., hey, I see that X country used Y vaccine and they had an unusual trend in Covid incidence--good or bad--I wonder why that is?), you can then design a study that can try to answer that question systematically. This is what public health researchers do and it can be done retroactively, given the right set of data with sufficient sample size. So, you ask a good question: why do I see what I see? With sufficient specificity in your question and the right data, the question can usually be answered.
In Singapore we wearing masks everywhere and eateries limited to 2, but the number of cases just shot up even after more than 80%got vaccine with P or M. P and M efficiency are fake data and aren't in line with actual happening around. Singapore and Israel proved it.
you are comparing tropical nations to temperate. the problem of evaluating all the vaccines is that there is different types of immunity and different factors. There is a belief that Vietnam has low cases because they are exposed to a lot of coronvirus and have partial immunity to the virus already. the reason is there are far more bats in Vietnam.
Same here. How many experts say that Sinovac lies at the bottom of efficay rank? 1 million? Yeah, I just cannot trust the vaccines that come from a country with a champion of 714k deaths. And winter is coming to US. Lots of luck with their 95% efficacy
Is not the cases of thrust or not. Is the actual fact that countries using only P or M like US, Israel and Singapore are now facing with high surf of covid cases. Israel and Singapore both have more than 80 % vaccine rate.
My entire family received Sinovac vaccines. Sinovac is the safest vaccine compared to mRNA vaccines....less side effects and time-tested technology platform....
Thank you for putting together an unbiased video summary & assessment, which is very helpful. I fully agree that being vaccinated with Sinovac's CoronaVac is far better than not being vaccinated. I am very grateful that the Indonesian government managed to secure a strong supply of CoronaVac from the start of the year, and I am one of the lucky recipients of the vaccine.
@@johnmonk3381 are u prepared for that 714k deaths on US soil? Is that not fast enough? Go eat your Pfizer, just like the Israeli which are prepping for the 4th jab. Sooo effective dude
Indonesia's new Covid-19 cases dropped drastically to only 894 on Oct 10 2021, lower than Singapore which uses Pfizer and Moderna, and Israel which uses Pfizer.
same goes for Chile, they use only sinovac.. infections there dropped 80% in 2 month... and in the same 2 month nfections in the US went up by 400%.. both nations had a vaccination rate of around 60%.
Just to clarify something: Chile did not “use only Sinovac.” Around 80-85% of the vaccination doses administered in Chile were Sinovac. (see supplementary appendix of NEJM study) Also, this is really important, so if nothing else, take away this lesson about epidemiology, study design, and confounding factors. Vaccinations are not the only factor determining Covid incidence in a country. Comparing 2 countries at a specific point in time (eg choosing today) does not tell you anything. If the number of susceptible people is low (because they’ve been infected from a previous wave), if mask usage is high, etc-these factors are extremely important. Choosing a specific point in time also neglects what happened in the past. You can find any country is “lower” than any country, if you choose the right time. You’re not actually measuring the factor that is at play. This is just introductory epidemiology and study design concepts. A simple example I typically give in an introductory course is: in a town, ice cream sales and violent crime are highly correlated, being high in summer and low in winter. Does ice cream cause people to commit violent crime?
@@AnthonyKuster i replyed to this comment already in an other comment, so i just would like to add one thing: people aslo tend to gain weight in winter and loose weight in summer, while doing more outdoor activitys in summer and staying more indoors in winter. is there a possible link between out door activity and weight loss? does it change the result becasue they eat more ice cream in summer? before you get me wrong.. i do urge everyone to get vaccinated, but also agree to vaccines alone wont end the pandemic. Social awareness and the will to temporarely sacrifice some personal confort for the greater good of everyone is what does that.

The phase 3 trail's in Sinovac was a health care providers they are very exposed to the virus unlike the phycer and moderna that's why they have higher effectiveness they used an ordinary people unlike Sinovac they use health care prontliners.
There is a problem with this argument, which is that the phase 3 trial in Turkey for Sinovac used healthcare workers, yes. However, that phase 3 trial showed the highest reported effectiveness for Sinovac among any study about Sinovac. In other words, it was the best results. The study from Chile, which used a much bigger sample size and was extremely representative of the overall population (used a cohort that was 80% of total population), found a lower effectiveness. Therefore, occupation of the sample is not the only or most important factor affecting effectiveness. I think what you’re implying is that healthcare workers are at higher risk to exposure than the general population. And, you are right (although they also use PPE and are more usually more risk averse in their actions). However, effectiveness in a phase 3 trial (or any properly designed study) compares equivalent populations of vaccinated and unvaccinated. So the vaccinated doctors may be at higher risk compared to general population but they are being compared to unvaccinated doctors that are doing the same things and have the same level of risk. This is why this factor is not substantial. Instead, what is more influential on a vaccine’s reported effectiveness are the factors discussed in this video, such as variants. Keep in mind the study you’re talking about in turkey used a very small sample size, which resulted in a high level of uncertainty (95% CI ranged anywhere from about 60-90%), meaning the real effectiveness in that HCW population likely was anywhere in that range. The Chile study was not a phase 3 trial but was a much stronger study design and had much larger sample, resulting in very low uncertainty (95% CI was only +/- ~1-2%). Hope this helps you understand how effectiveness is calculated and the importance of accounting for factors in study design.

In the Philippines, majority of vaccines shipped to us are Sinovac, although we have used all 6 brands at varying quantities. Since it was first one available, our HCWs were mostly vaccinated with Sinovac; the other option for them was AZ. So far, we have been hearing of breakthrough cases among them. There have been deaths also but usually accompanied by co-morbidities. I chose Sino this April-May bec of the known at that time adverse reactions to AZ. Of course, concerned about waning efficacy, but we're not giving boosters yet. National elections next year, focus is getting more people their 1st and 2nd doses. Yup, not looking to go out except for essentials any time soon.
The least vaccine for me is Sinovac, but when I was fully vaccinated by it and got infected by covid19, Sinovac prevented me from being hospitalized. Vaccine works!
In Thailand, govt give SinoVac to doctors / health care workers, my gf and some of my friends are one of them. We already knew ahead that the protection could be significantly lower than other vaccine as at that time there is very very limited number of study on the vaccine. So many of my friends and also my gf took the anti body test. The antibody level 1 month after fully vaccinated is relatively low. For 2-3 months after fully vaccinated, some of my friend got result as no antibody at all / negative antibody. I know that there is more than antibody (B-Cell), there is T-Cell which we couldn't measure but I think it is quite a good indication about protection level overall of the vaccine. Sure Sinovac still give some protection but the govt should treat it as interim solution and give those people who received SinoVac a proper booster dose.
you have it backwards. Western Vaccine should be used as an interim. The problem is that it's only made to attack 4 antigens and will go obsolete. Biontech has admitted this already, the maker of Pfizer's vaccine. CHinese might not give strong immunity, but the antigens are stored and will produce antibodies faster than never being infected or vaccinated. the thing is CHinese vaccine is against the whole virus and the virus will not mutate everything away. We know the virus will be here to stay now Who has stated it, so the point of the vaccine is to give us a head start in fighting the disease so it won't be so deadly, oppose to not getting infected at all.
Indonesia (with 275 mil. population) used mostly sinovac and AZ; they're currently only around 850 new cases per day. It's even lower than pfizer-vaccinated Singapore (with around 5 mil population) where they currently are having around 3,4k cases per day.

Protest and educate your leaders. At this point there is no reason to get pfizer. THe Western vaccines will become obsolete eventually. Biontech, who makes it, already said that Pfizer's vaccine will be obsolete in 2022. Chinese vaccine will give some immunity no matter what variants show up, because it's using the whole virus. There is no way the virus will mutate everything. We know the virus won't go away, and the point is not to prevent all infections anymore, so a strong vaccine is not necessary. It's good for protecting the vulnerable, but we either let people get infected now, or use a whole virus vaccine .
Yes. Not only that, there are more Covid-19 cases after massive vaccination of the population in Israel. Pfizer is definitely not effective in preventing Covid-19.
Its only 0.8% in their own data submitted to the FDA (Absolute Risk Reduction) which is the standard, not (Relative Risk reduction) that have been using. Sorry suckers!
I always see the same mistake when reading the results of the Chile study, and I can say it with confidence because I saw a video with the director of the study that explained the results. It´s 65.9% of infection, but of the rest is where you get the other results and so on. So from 34,1 is where you get the 87,5% hospitalization rate and so on. He said that Sinovac with they saw a 99.9% effective against death. And you can see that in the results. 4´173.524 had two dosis. From the 10 million, died 4042. If we only take the two vaccinated and the deaths, those deaths are the 0,09%. If we took all the 10 million in the study, that percentage would be even lower (0,03%). So Sinovac is like 97% against hospitalization, and 99.9% against death. Check you own data and you will see it.
Yes, the outcome against which effectiveness is measured must be specified, as I do in this video. Just so we don’t get confused here is the text from the study verbatim (link in description): “ Among persons who were fully immunized, the adjusted vaccine effectiveness was 65.9% (95% confidence interval [CI], 65.2 to 66.6) for the prevention of Covid-19 and 87.5% (95% CI, 86.7 to 88.2) for the prevention of hospitalization, 90.3% (95% CI, 89.1 to 91.4) for the prevention of ICU admission, and 86.3% (95% CI, 84.5 to 87.9) for the prevention of Covid-19-related death.” The lower effectiveness number you report is, as stated, against symptomatic infection. Vaccines are helpful in reducing the likelihood of hospitalization and death, even if breakthrough infection occurs. The key is to compare apples to apples (equivalent outcome measured in equivalent ways). Not sure where you get 99% from. It sounds like you’re just taking total deaths divided by total cohort size, but that’s not how it’s calculated according to study design and statistics. You can read full report to see methods. I can also suggest good introductory courses on epidemiology and study design on Coursera (free) if you’re interested in learning more.
@@AnthonyKuster Hello, as I said, I got the 99% from the director of the study, I saw an interview in spanish where he said that the vaccine is 99% effective against death.
Ok, well not sure what to say. Perhaps his statement was misinterpreted or taken out of context? Otherwise he is either lying in the interview or made a grave error in the study. Given the scrutiny and careful attention given to writing the paper, I assume this blatant error is not in the paper. I will always trust a carefully worded and descriptive report supported by transparent data over somebody’s “word of mouth.”
@@AnthonyKuster Well, who knows. One question that I don´t understand. Why the prevention of getting into ICU is higher than the prevention of death? I would asume that if you get into ICU, the prevention of death should be higher because you first get into ICU and then you die, so the number of people who get into ICU should be higher than the death toll, no? the numbers say otherwise, they say the death risk is higher than the ICU risk, that´s what I´m reading and it makes no sense.
@@AnthonyKuster Also, one important factor I read about the studies, is that they cannot be compared because they were administrated in different countries with different amount of cases. For example, in the first study, while Pzifer and Moderna were administered during low peaks of covid and only in the USA, Johnsons vaccine and Sinovac were tested, the first during a high peak of covid cases in the USA, the second in countries with high amount of cases, so the results cannot be compared. What do you think about this?
Its like more than a year now that I'm still refusing to get vaccinated, not because I entirely hate vaccines but I'm just making sure I will pick the lesser of the evils , i mean I could care less about the vaccines efficacy but I only could care with the vaccines that's likekly to produce less harm to me, even with less than 50% efficacy i would go so as long as i have lesser and lesser chance of injury , simply because I trust natural immunity, asked many friends about the side effects of sinovac and mostly answered as if nothing happened, and a few who just had mild fevers. The best thing about sinovac is it uses a technology thats been around a long time and that the technology works with lesser risk
thank you, this is so informative, specially to those who haven't been vaccinated and still going through doubts about having vaccinated or not and which one to choose
How about comparing with effectiveness of Pfizer in Israel ? Why are the numbers increasing so sharply in Israel ? Such such dismal results , can we say Pfizer work better than Sinovac ?
Like I pointed out in the video, overall trends in a population cannot tell you any information about any vaccine. The reason is because you need to isolate the factor you’re interested in. You have to know who has the vaccine and who doesn’t and who got sick and didn’t get sick. Many factors (behaviors: mask usage, regulations on in person dining; environment: weather, time indoors; introduction of immune evasive variants, etc) affect epidemiological trends. If you want to know what role a vaccine played in that, you need a study design that can answer that question. Looking at single points in time and a single population is poor science. In much the same way, we can see that countries like Seychelles, Mongolia, and many others had extreme outbreaks despite high vaccination rates. In other words, regardless of the vaccine (Pfizer, Sinovac, sinopharm which is biologically almost identical to Sinovac) this has happened. Because not everyone is vaccinated (look at the US) and because no vaccine is 100% effective at preventing infection. But these single point observations don’t provide any meaningful comparisons across countries. If you wanted to use this kind of data, you could do an “ecological” study design, in which you looked at incidence rates in every country over a sufficiently long period of time (4-6 months) and looked at vaccination rates and vaccine types in each country. The aggregate of each a country would create one single data point. With 200+ countries, you might start to see some weak correlations between incidence and vaccine factors (eg brand). But with so many other factors confounding it, it’ll be hard to tease out. My goal is not to convince people that vaccine A is “better” then vaccine B. I’ve taught study design for many years so my goal is to help people understand how (and how not) conclusions can be drawn from data. Hope this helps. Who knows.. maybe you’ll be signing up for an epidemiology course on Coursera soon! 😉
@@AnthonyKuster the studies clearly weren't long enough then to account for steeply waning efficacy for selected vaccines. Who cares about your reported efficacy for pfizer (95%) if it drops to 16% after 5 months.
Thank you for the explanation. It is known that many poor countries cannot afford the cost of the best vaccine unless the rich countries step in to help.
Inactive virus is generally giving a better overall protection (against mutations) than mRNA vaccine because of the whole virus protein structures rather than a single protein produced by mRNA vaccine. You can see Chile really doing very well after sinovac shots
Similar to annual dominant flu, early version of vaccine may drop in efficacy. Updated versions of Sinovac vaccine should be tailor-made for each regional dominant variants.
YOU got it the wrong way. WE need new vaccines for all the Western vaccines, because they will all go obsolete. China's vaccine will have diminish efficacy, but because it's a whole virus, it will give some immunity. Because WHO has admitted that the virus is not going away, we need a different strategy, and it isn't stopping the virus, but reducing it's deadliness. WHole virus vaccine is better at that. The other choice is to get infected.
I mean, effectiveness doesn't seem great in relative terms, but it looks like there's also milder side-effects. I'm in my thirties, and I had two doses of coronavac, and the only side-effect I had was tiredness, which lasted until the next day.
You did not mention what kind of people use in phase 3 trial's in all of the vaccine for what i know in Sinovac they use a prontliners toctors nurses in the hospital.
You are correct that the population matters. In another video where i do a meta-review of all phase 3 trials, you can see more data on the populations of each vaccine’s phase 3 trial. However, none of them use frontline workers exclusively. The goal of a phase 3 trial is be representative of the overall adult population (age, sex, demographics, etc). The best example of a representative study is out of Chile. That one was not a phase 3 trial. Instead it was a prospective cohort study. The cohort was 80% of the entire country’s population, which is an exceptionally good dataset. One study out of Brazil discussed in this video (also not a phase 3 trial) reported results from a population of healthcare workers (as noted in the video). However, the effectiveness is determined (in any properly designed study) by comparing equivalent people within a given population (that is, comparing vaccinated to unvaccinated). In a population like HCWs, there may be factors that increase overall risk (eg increased risk of exposure) but also factors that decrease risk (eg higher risk prevention measures like wearing PPE and higher knowledge about protective measures), so these counteracting factors would create variable differences in that population compared to a non-HCW population. Nevertheless, effectiveness is not about overall risk but relative risk compared to unvaccinated within an equivalent population. It is not about relative risk between different populations. Hope this helps.
In Indonesia, I think the health authorities must have messed up, they probably give different vaccines for the 1st and 2nd shot, which is think is one of the reasons for rapidly declining number of cases in indonesia. Mixing the vaccine probably works better than using a single brand

What’s your take on 2 Sinovac primary doses and Moderna half dose booster shot? Would that be adequate? Should moderna booster be at full dose for sinovaxxed people?
Thailand’s policy (where I live) is that anyone that received Sinovac should have a booster as soon as humanly possible.. they are using Pfizer mostly here, but moderna would be equally good. Data shows that following this booster neutralizing antibody levels are high and provide protective levels (meaning something like 90-95% efficacy in preventing symptomatic infection) likely for at least 6 months. I believe the booster is no different in dose from regular 2-dose regimen. That’s what Thailand is doing. I’m not aware of any study using a sub-dosing for boosting. My recommendation for people is to measure neutralizing antibody levels and if they are low (eg
@@AnthonyKuster thanks for the response. The booster dose for moderna in my country (PH) is following that of the US FDA recommendation of moderna half dose boosters for HCW, elderlies and immunicompromised. So i had a long time contemplating whether i should get vaccinated or not coz it worried me. then yesterday i decided to get vaccinated and it was pfizer, i felt nervous but thank god i didnt feel any side effect.. its been 14hrs now since i got vaccinated, i just felt a little pain in the injection site.. and no other symptoms.. just my temperature raises to 71.2C.. usually its just 36C something... now i feel happy. Hopefully i wont be experiencing anything else later.

Everybody is talking about antibodies... Is our immune system all about antibodies or does it also have other defences? Was this effect investigated in any study? I think it is better to receive the whole virus compared to only spike proteines. Any thoughts on this?
Antibodies are all about tagging the virus from spreading and cloning inside the cell and so on. And during school years, we were taught the antibodies have 4 types of mechanism, one of it is the Neutralization. All of the mechanism later on as tagging which will the phagocyte by the macrophages and also other phagocytic cells. If there is no tagging for the virus, other than antibodies such as t-cells can also be triggered for the immune response.
Antibodies produce by B-cell. And also forget to mention, there are two types of immune system, and the antibodies will give rise a longer period of immunuty to the body.
Very disappointing, that you don't address the issue of side effects from these vaccines. Is there data which compares the frequency and type of side effect, from each of those vaccines? An important factor in the choice of vaccine type, particularly for people who are known to have reactions to drugs and vaccines.
Well, when creating a video topic it’s necessary to limit the scope and address a specific topic (viewers need to know what they’re getting and they need it delivered in 15 minutes or less.. this is the age we live in). That said, the topic of this video is effectiveness of Sinovac. I do believe that there is at least one good video out there summarizing published studies on adverse reactions from this and other vaccines. Hopefully you can find what you’re looking for.
Most data suggests that a booster should be something other than Sinovac. Most countries are using Astra or Pfizer to provide a 3rd booster to those previously inoculated with Sinovac. The levels of neutralizing antibodies from Sinovac are generally high for only about 1-2 months. After that time, boosting is needed.
Test in the pudding is in the eating not just the looks. The comparison of vaccines should be total immunity not just antibody levels, what about cellular immunity? The producer of this video didn’t declare any conflict of interest, or have I missed out? Last year the American president DT tried to exchange the patents of American vaccines for the Chinese vaccines, why? Last year Pfizer was first to announce that its Biontech had efficacy of 90 percent, then Moderna announced their vaccine efficacy as 94 percent, within 2 weeks Pfizer changed their vaccine efficacy to 95 percent, that’s surprising! The most surprising thing was that CEO of Pfizer did not have Biontech vaccine for immunisation, did he go to Saudi Arabia secretly for Sinovac? Prone to myocarditis?

Please kindly explain why in Chile and Brazil... which both coutires were sinovac predominent..... seeing drops in COVID casese while in US, Singapore etc... which mRNA based vaccine predominated.... yet loads of Cases
Because Chile and Brazil have suffered enormously already. They have reached this low incidence today through natural infection. Considering only reported cases (probably only 20-50% of actual cases).. Brazil has reported that >10% of its population as having had Covid.. 8.5% for Chile.. while Singapore is 2.5%. So 300 to 500% higher in Brazil and Chile compared to Singapore. To be clear, though, I don’t attribute this difference to vaccines. Policy and behaviors play a substantial role in this observation. We cannot make conclusions on anything based on singular points in time or in trends influenced by many factors. Instead, science requires us to isolate a variable and measure an outcome in order to determine the association. Hence the importance of study design an a thorough understanding of epidemiology and statistics. Great courses on these topics are available for free on Coursera!
I had my first dose vaccine last Aug.8,2021 scheduled for 2nd dose Sept 15,2021 but not able to have it up to this time because of cough do I need to have my 2nd dose sinovac
The data shows that one dose of Sinovac is essentially 0% effective. Several of the studies shown here (links in video description) report on effectiveness and/or also neutralizing antibody levels in people that received only one dose. One dose also would not be considered “fully vaccinated” (depending on where you live and where you want to travel, this may be important). Therefore, you may want to consider finishing the inoculation. Then, depending on your risk, you will need to consider a booster in 4-6 months following that (this is what data collected and reported by Sinovac says.. that after 6 months basically no measurable neutralizing antibodies).
Sinovac is the best! And why is that? Coz covid is first found in china they took the first study to a covid patient so they have the best vacine and they have the bigest market to offer for free or for sale if is it so.
Just a question, isnt your body will stop producing antibodies if no infection or virus detected? and your body will produce antibodies again in case of reinfection?

I find it a bit hypocritical that when countries that used Western vaccines have rising cases and numerous breakthrough cases it's never because of the vaccine. But when a country that used Sinovac has rising infections, the vaccine's effectiveness is always questioned.
You are right... in both cases is not the vaccines fault, but more to do with the new variants...

Any vaccine helps. Regardless of which brand. The most import is making your self healthy.

Sinovac is not working for a lot of people who are now dying!
(see supplementary appendix of NEJM study)
Also, this is really important, so if nothing else, take away this lesson about epidemiology, study design, and confounding factors.
@@AnthonyKuster i replyed to this comment already in an other comment, so i just would like to add one thing:
people aslo tend to gain weight in winter and loose weight in summer,
while doing more outdoor activitys in summer and staying more indoors in winter.

does it change the result becasue they eat more ice cream in summer?
before you get me wrong.. i do urge everyone to get vaccinated, but also agree to vaccines alone wont end the pandemic.

By the way , START READING on “DRUG RESISTANT BACTERIA “ problem! We saw THIS COMING 20-30 years ago, NOW IT IS HERE!
The least vaccine for me is Sinovac, but when I was fully vaccinated by it and got infected by covid19, Sinovac prevented me from being hospitalized. Vaccine works!
I was fully vaccinated w/ SINOVAC Vaccine with my intire Family, thank you SINOVAC Vaccine
It's even lower than pfizer-vaccinated Singapore (with around 5 mil population) where they currently are having around 3,4k cases per day.
how many ppl in Indonesia are already infected? more people there have natural immunity from past infection than vaccine. pls compare apple to apple.
@@litchi88 Sure. Then we should multiply Singapore cases by 55x to have per mil case comparison 👍
@@litchi88 there are more location with more herd immunity like Singapore or America but they're still having numerous amount of cases. So yeah, you can't really compare it apple to apple because it's a different case in each country. It's up to you to believe or reject the vaccine.
@@dartagnan9094 definitely, vaccine is a personal and balanced choice but here is my input: 1)is your quoted infection no. reflecting the REAL situation --how many tests per million per day is done among US, SG and ID? how is the audits done? 2) sheer infection no. does not speak to vaccine efficacy, cos many other factors play a part.

I personally prefer to have the traditional vaccine like Sinovac but, unfortunatelyI could not have it in Australia hence received the Pfizer vax. Just praying that with this new mRNA vax that there won't be any long term effects loke endocarditis in the future.
just got pfizer too.
Choices here are, pfizer, sinovac and sputnik...
I am just anxious
@@slewone4905 I am also in Australia and waiting for Novavax. I didn't know that Sinovac used the same method of vaccine as Novavax. Interesting.
The Sinovac vaccine good 👍
Your results were from trial data, I see that lately pfizer efficiency has really waned, 39% last I seen out of Israel. Real world data
Yes. Not only that, there are more Covid-19 cases after massive vaccination of the population in Israel. Pfizer is definitely not effective in preventing Covid-19.
Reports out of qatar states pfizer efficacy drops to 20% after 4 months.
Just so we don’t get confused here is the text from the study verbatim (link in description):
“ Among persons who were fully immunized, the adjusted vaccine effectiveness was 65.9% (95% confidence interval [CI], 65.2 to 66.6) for the prevention of Covid-19 and 87.5% (95% CI, 86.7 to 88.2) for the prevention of hospitalization, 90.3% (95% CI, 89.1 to 91.4) for the prevention of ICU admission, and 86.3% (95% CI, 84.5 to 87.9) for the prevention of Covid-19-related death.”
The lower effectiveness number you report is, as stated, against symptomatic infection.
The best thing about sinovac is it uses a technology thats been around a long time and that the technology works with lesser risk
thank you, this is so informative, specially to those who haven't been vaccinated and still going through doubts about having vaccinated or not and which one to choose
i got my sinovac yesterday thanks for the video great information
Awesome!
@@nengnengnengable Pfizer study shows only 47% effectiveness after 5 months. Other sources say vaccines wane at 40% per month if I recall correctly.

@@redhatpenguin1241 I doubt Sinovac would be available in the land of fake freedom.
Inactive virus is generally giving a better overall protection (against mutations) than mRNA vaccine because of the whole virus protein structures rather than a single protein produced by mRNA vaccine. You can see Chile really doing very well after sinovac shots
according to your study, China would be in bigger trouble than US by now but reality show otherwise... take this study with a "spoon" of salt!
So thankful for the video. I'm going with SinoVac!
I read from Israel studies in Lancet that Pfizer vaccines wane very fast. In some cases 2 months ....I think you should do the comparisons....
Sinovac for me. Far less dangerous and how can 1.4 Billion Chinese be wrong😁

Will this suggests a 3rd dose for Sinovac recepients?
The most surprising thing was that CEO
of Pfizer did not have Biontech vaccine for immunisation, did he go to Saudi Arabia secretly for Sinovac? Prone to myocarditis?

I do not vaccinated anymore
but I choice sinovac when decided
