I’m an OT snob as well so it makes me happy that you put that into consideration when making these videos! I’m going to try to go for all of the forms so thank you for the tips and info!
I got into the habit of trying to hang onto at least one Pokémon from a trade with each of my friends throughout the various games over the years to help me win the Loto, so my collection is basically the opposite of yours as far as OTs go! It's awesome how there are so many ways to enjoy collecting Pokémon. 😄
As a shiny hunter who is going for a full shiny living dex including all forms and gender differences with visual distinctions I really really love what they did here. Makes my life so much easier, especially because I was actually not hunting these butterflies for quite a while for this exact reason. The fact that we got fancy was cool enough to me, but now we have access to all the different patterns just by adding friends on pokémon Go, this is really a feature that I am super super excited about
I hunted them in X around when ORaS had just been revealed. It was a pain in the ass, though. You have to completely reset your game in order to change the pattern that will appear. Got ‘em all by the time SM got revealed. Was nice to hunt the Fancy Pattern like a normal Pokémon lmao And as a Shiny Hunter who has succeeded in collecting the Shiny variants of every form of every Pokémon, I wish you the best of luck on your journey. I'm so sad i lost my copy of x all those tears ago, I remember being 11 or something an wanting all the vivillon patterns and I actually got most of them including monsoon which I remember being rare so it's such a shame I don't have any of my gen 6 games now
Especially since the GTS in those games now is full of hacked and broken Pokemon. You try to click on them to trade with and it crashes the GTS. I have at least 10 of those butterflies in my X and Y games. Never got them all.

@@ggdarktooth If you traded in GO, it will still comes as your OT. But you can also let the player link to your Nintendo Account and transfer to HOME directly. The GO account name will be that player, but the OT is yours.
It took me a while to find out that I had to actually go into the postcard book and click send to Nintendo switch and I think many other people have been struggling with that. Great video!
@@KennyxD209 I just tested this. It does not. In my case, I transferred a Savanna Vivillon pattern postcard yesterday and caught 3 Scatterbug. Today I transferred a Polar Vivillon pattern postcard and evolved the 3 scatterbug I caught yesterday. They all evolved into Savanna pattern Vivillon so that confirms this will only work on wild Scatterbug and it will evolve into whatever Vivillon pattern is “active” for you at the time it was caught. If you caught your shiny before this update came out it’ll most likely evolve into the shiny Fancy pattern since Fancy is the default pattern in the game.
Important note about the patterns: they will reset after 24 hours when you send the post card over, this means you can get 2 types of wild vivillon if you want that. Basically, be sure you shiny hunt your vivillon pattern sooner rather than later
I don't know if you already plan to do this, but what I am doing right now is using the happy hour move on the hisuian zoroark to get double the money from the academy ace tournament, so its like 40-60k per battle
Rarest are Ocean and Sandstorm imo, Im a PoGo player only. In PoGo they do have the other types listed in the Dex so probably one of the events later in the year will give it.
Also if you catch a scarterbug it will evolve into whatever pattern is active (useful if you are using apricot balls since Poco path scarterbugs are 100% catch rate)

I know that the usual trick is to put the national dex number of what you have, then the national dex number for what you want as the trade code. So Vivillon would be 0666 0666. I’ve found a few people on that one. Hope this helps!
I hope the Poke Ball Pattern becomes available in the DLC and can be shiny hunted, even if it’s like a set spawn that you can only get one per save file.
Also, if you have multiple Pokémon go accounts or have other friends and family members that play Pokémon go. You can use one switch and perform the post card exchange multiple times a day so you can receive different Vivillon types (only applies if the cards from your friends, family, or multiple accounts come from the appropriate regions where those types are from.)
do you havbe the chance to receive postcards from Desert and Ocean places, I've been looking up for people from those places to get those Vivillon in Pokemon go, and now in Pokemon Purple

HEY!! I don't know if anyone noticed yet, but you can get the patterns if you evolve the previous evos caught from the wild!! I tested it out of curiosity with Scatterbug and got the Meadow pattern i had today!!
One thing I am looking forward to is home compatability(which still has no set release date) because I just haven’t had the motivation to make a pvp team in scarlet and violet but I do have a lot ready in swsh so I just hope it comes soon
I'm slightly nuts and require not only the OT to be mine, but also native regions and Hidden Abilities wherever possible. I bought PAL and JP 3DSes and did the necessary runs in X and Y to gather my Vivillons. I'm glad it's easier to collect a full set now because the whole Vivillon concept is cool!
Man it pleases me that I'm not the only crazy one trying to do this Pokedex thing on home I've given up on trying to get a masterdecks you know getting the Pokemon from the earliest game possible into home I'm also taking it a step further and not only getting every form and gender difference but also shiny versions of those forms and gender differences
@@jameshemlinger5001 That is an awesome goal to have! That is currently my goal! Just missing one Pokemon and that's the roaming form Ghimighoul,(and the many shinies). I'm basically done, aside from that. I've been playing since diamond and pearl first released. It took me a while to collect all Pokemon, their gender variants, and their forms. Vivillon 20 patterns and Alcremie 63 forms were tough for me at the time. Deoxys was also a pain since it was mythical at the time. I wish I could see how you set up your boxes! You might get me to change everything up. I do have over 1,000 Pokemon though lol. I wish you the best of luck dude. You can definitely accomplish this!
Austin, Idk if this is true but there's a rumor about save datas being lost because of this feature. Please look into it and spread some awareness if it turns out to be the case
I actually finished my collection of Shiny vivillons back in gen 6. I got them all by breeding in my own games, and trading on the GTS. Maybe some of the ones I traded for are hacked, but I felt like the whole point of vivillon at the time was to encourage trading, so different OTs don't bother me.
A week before the direct I was hoping for any way to get the different wing patterns and I’m so happy about this (I have zero GO friends and I get the lamest pattern high plains)
@@BGFutureBG Yes you can. I've been sending mine to my friend in return for getting Gimmighoul. My friend can still send his card, so he can get at least 2 Patterns per day.
Everyone please be careful connecting to pokemon go. There is a very rare chance that it can delete your save data. I'd love for Austin to post a video on it just to warn ppl aswell as it's not being talked about a lot!
just want to say thanks because this video is the only one I found that clearly explains how to connect GO to Scarlet/Violet. Neither game makes it clear how to do it, I thought the servers were fucked at launch
I just find it interesting that fancy pattern Vivillon was event only in x and y turns out to be native to Paldea. Even though game freak probably didn't plan this out all the way back in x and y It gives fancy pattern vivillon a native habitat. Now we just need to find out where pokeball pattern vivillon is from.
This is a very fun task to partake in, collecting all the butterflies. I completed my quest today, and it is awesome to see all the patterns in one box. I do recommend you try this
I guess I am lucky. . . cause the old Pokemon Bank houses my entire Vivillon set. SO now I have more reason to get the year long sub to HOME and migrate all those boxes over.
I collected all 20 forms on XY’s GTS. 10 years ago. So I’m good. And Poké Ball will probably get rereleased soon because it’s in the coding for the game.
I remember trying to do this before I could find any great tutorials on it and it took me like 15 minutes to think "what if i checked where they normally spawn" and then I did some testing of my own. I'm not completely through the video yet so I'm not sure that any of this wasn't said in the video, but I looked through the chapters and it didn't mention either of these things. 1. These CAN be shiny, they work like normal spawns. An encounter power and sparkling power sandwich will make it pretty easy to get one. 2. Closing the game does NOT revert the vivillon back to the native pattern to SV, which again, means you can very easily shiny hunt it. Quick edit: I first got my Vivillon pattern at 5PM, then I checked back to test if closing the game got rid of it at 9AM the next morning and I still had the same vivillon pattern, so it might be 24 hours, its approaching 5PM again so I'll check then and report my findings
about month ago i finally traded for last missing vivillon.. and was working slowly in pogo (13 evolved so far) hoping to get them there with my ot.. plans changed thanks to this.

Thanks to this, ALL my living form dex is complete besides Vivillon Poké Ball form. Time to start the shiny living dex now while waiting for the Vivillon Poké Ball event to return
Got a little hack for y'all shiny hunting. Date skip to get a mass outbreak and hunt the Vivillon you want and if you got a different one you want to hunt, all you have to do is make sure the time is behind by a few hours and now you can hunt the new type without resetting for a new outbreak and knocking out the 60 again. Tested and works.
For the shinies you can force an outbreak, do the outbreak, receive a postcard and the new spawns will match the new patrern (even if the map shows the default form), then if a friend sends you a postcard the spawns of the outbteak will change again so it's possible to catch all 19 shinies within the same outbreak :) the "once per day" only applies to go (no need to even touch the switch clock/date)
Postcard resets at Midnight, regardless of the time you sent it to S&V. I sent a postcard at 9pm for one pattern, then I sent another at 12am (3 hours later) and the pattern changed. I didn't wait 24 hours. It hit midnight and changed. Confirmed with others in AJP's discord.
I've been doing a shiny dex like this. I'm very close to completing it btw and I'm the OT of them all. I call mine a Shiny Master Dex. I feel like Master Dex sounds like you've actually caught them all. Good luck with your hunting and collecting
I remember finding a reddit group or something similar back in the day where people were setting up Spewpa egg trades and it took me like a week to get all Vivillon forms that way through random trading and evolving but I was able to get all patterns with my OT, so that was cool.
I absolutely don't have the patience to do this, but it's really cool I only have England postcards, and no friends, so glad those who want it can get them
PSA: Scatterbugs caught after sending a postcard will evolve into the postcards respective form, Scatterbug outbreaks will also all evolve into the postcards form. I re-rolled for a Scatterbug outbreak, knocked out 60 then saved. Then sent a postcard and reset for a shiny, the shiny Scatterbug evolved to Garden Vivillon!
Thanks for this video Auston John! I've been doing the same thing as you but taking it one step further. Separating out each living form dex by origin mark as well. It's a grind but that's life as a Pokémon master. Being the OT on everything is a must!
The way i like to hunt for pokemon or shiny hunt in every game is by only collecting the pokemon that are available through the game without transferring. Like before these Vivillon forms weren’t available i would’ve just gotten a Fancy pattern and its shiny version, but now that all of it’s forms can be caught in-game i’ll get all their patterns and shiny versions. Whelp good thing i have multiple 3DS and already am shiny hunting in those systems on X and Y lol. Already got 8 of the 18 patterns.

I'm glad I got the pokeball pattern when I could. I also got the Elegant when it was still event exclusive, so there's a chance the Pokeball could be too.
May want to stock up on the rarer patterns like Sandstorm to trade once Home for Scarlet and Violet goes live. Good for trades. Or horde Rare Pattern postcards in GO and wait until HOME.
I loved collecting Vivillon’s back in x and y where the region of your game determined what pattern you got. I’d evolve every Scatterbug I got on wondertrade
I think provolone is pretty popular in the US! A lot of sandwich places use it. I love it on tuna sandwiches and french dip sandwiches. We almost always have provolone in our fridge.
0:40 wouldn’t it make more sense to put regional forms at the end especially since we have no idea which Pokémon could get a regional next? Like this generation alone we got three forms of Tauros, must take forever to shift everything over just for those

Man i went through so much to get my pokeball vivillon! I remember offering so many of my rare pokes for it. Just happened to catch wind of its existence right around the time it dropped!
I just got done with a spreadsheet logging what postcards I had in Go and what countries I would need friends from! The Silph Road map was clutch. I got a shiny Continental last night no problem. I set up an outbreak and sent over the card.
Just want to point out you can transfer a traded pokemon on Go to Home, and Home will still show you as the OT. I know technically it is not the case but that's how Home is currently working for me.
I've got 3 of the 19 patterns' shinies and and 10 more patterns' postcards in Go ready to send, this is a much better way to get Vivillon than in other games. Personally prefer to reroll for an outbreak, then send the postcard and hunt the outbreak.
hm. Gonna have to hunt down more regional postcards and keep them in the postcard book. Still, looking forward to being able to obtain at least 8-10 of the Vivillon patterns that I have preserved postcards for. also wish I'd known Heart Trim Furfrou held so much trading power in Pokémon Home :/
And unlike GO, the switch doesn't have daily limit. So if you can ask a friend (different GO account) to send postcard, you can have several Patterns in one day.

He can also wait for next Valentine's Day, since we were able to change to Heart Form this year's holiday.
Austin also said in the video he wants to be the original trainer of a heart furfrou so he most likely wouldn’t accept a spare of one.
My furfrous all have my original trainer id in home even though i traded for them in go

FYI for everyone- You can also evolve wild Scatterbug into your postcard region’s Vivillon while it’s active.

I find the lighthouse the easiest to find them especially with encounter 2

I almost did this. I shiny hunted all NA console vivillons and decided to wait to see if vivillon forms came with the DLC before i did. So happy rn.

I've never bothered with Pokemon Go but I may consider doing a little bit just to get some Vivillon patterns
I actually finished my collection of Shiny vivillons back in gen 6. I got them all by breeding in my own games, and trading on the GTS. Maybe some of the ones I traded for are hacked, but I felt like the whole point of vivillon at the time was to encourage trading, so different OTs don't bother me.
A week before the direct I was hoping for any way to get the different wing patterns and I’m so happy about this (I have zero GO friends and I get the lamest pattern high plains)
I guess we need to share POGO friend codes and get us some friends 😊

Little addition : You can connect to GO once per day per pokemon GO account not per Scarlet Violet save file.
Is that so? That'd be great at least for helping out friends that don't have a Switch 😃
@@BGFutureBG Yes you can. I've been sending mine to my friend in return for getting Gimmighoul. My friend can still send his card, so he can get at least 2 Patterns per day.

Everyone please be careful connecting to pokemon go. There is a very rare chance that it can delete your save data. I'd love for Austin to post a video on it just to warn ppl aswell as it's not being talked about a lot!
just want to say thanks because this video is the only one I found that clearly explains how to connect GO to Scarlet/Violet. Neither game makes it clear how to do it, I thought the servers were fucked at launch

I just find it interesting that fancy pattern Vivillon was event only in x and y turns out to be native to Paldea. Even though game freak probably didn't plan this out all the way back in x and y It gives fancy pattern vivillon a native habitat. Now we just need to find out where pokeball pattern vivillon is from.

This is a very fun task to partake in, collecting all the butterflies. I completed my quest today, and it is awesome to see all the patterns in one box. I do recommend you try this
Apparently if you catch scatterbug and Spewpa during this 24 hour window you can evolve them into that certain pattern vivillon.
It was mentioned on the Pokemon website that the Vivillon pattern remains in-game for 24 real-world hours
Need a trade code for them! I don’t care for OTs so just a surprise trade even only sending different patterns would be awesome

I just completed my first vivillon pattern shiny from go. Im so excited for this, because i never played gen6
I guess I am lucky. . . cause the old Pokemon Bank houses my entire Vivillon set. SO now I have more reason to get the year long sub to HOME and migrate all those boxes over.
I collected all 20 forms on XY’s GTS. 10 years ago. So I’m good. And Poké Ball will probably get rereleased soon because it’s in the coding for the game.
I remember trying to do this before I could find any great tutorials on it and it took me like 15 minutes to think "what if i checked where they normally spawn" and then I did some testing of my own. I'm not completely through the video yet so I'm not sure that any of this wasn't said in the video, but I looked through the chapters and it didn't mention either of these things.
1. These CAN be shiny, they work like normal spawns. An encounter power and sparkling power sandwich will make it pretty easy to get one.
2. Closing the game does NOT revert the vivillon back to the native pattern to SV, which again, means you can very easily shiny hunt it.
Quick edit: I first got my Vivillon pattern at 5PM, then I checked back to test if closing the game got rid of it at 9AM the next morning and I still had the same vivillon pattern, so it might be 24 hours, its approaching 5PM again so I'll check then and report my findings
about month ago i finally traded for last missing vivillon.. and was working slowly in pogo (13 evolved so far) hoping to get them there with my ot.. plans changed thanks to this.

Got a little hack for y'all shiny hunting. Date skip to get a mass outbreak and hunt the Vivillon you want and if you got a different one you want to hunt, all you have to do is make sure the time is behind by a few hours and now you can hunt the new type without resetting for a new outbreak and knocking out the 60 again. Tested and works.
For the shinies you can force an outbreak, do the outbreak, receive a postcard and the new spawns will match the new patrern (even if the map shows the default form), then if a friend sends you a postcard the spawns of the outbteak will change again so it's possible to catch all 19 shinies within the same outbreak :) the "once per day" only applies to go (no need to even touch the switch clock/date)
Postcard resets at Midnight, regardless of the time you sent it to S&V. I sent a postcard at 9pm for one pattern, then I sent another at 12am (3 hours later) and the pattern changed. I didn't wait 24 hours. It hit midnight and changed. Confirmed with others in AJP's discord.
I've been doing a shiny dex like this. I'm very close to completing it btw and I'm the OT of them all. I call mine a Shiny Master Dex. I feel like Master Dex sounds like you've actually caught them all. Good luck with your hunting and collecting

I remember finding a reddit group or something similar back in the day where people were setting up Spewpa egg trades and it took me like a week to get all Vivillon forms that way through random trading and evolving but I was able to get all patterns with my OT, so that was cool.
I've always liked vivion because of butterfree it just feels like a butterfree so I don't mind getting these

PSA: Scatterbugs caught after sending a postcard will evolve into the postcards respective form, Scatterbug outbreaks will also all evolve into the postcards form. I re-rolled for a Scatterbug outbreak, knocked out 60 then saved. Then sent a postcard and reset for a shiny, the shiny Scatterbug evolved to Garden Vivillon!
Austin! I'm so excited about this too! Once you finish the national dex, you gotta do something else. So collecting forms is the next best thing.

I've been doing the same thing as you but taking it one step further. Separating out each living form dex by origin mark as well. It's a grind but that's life as a Pokémon master.

The way i like to hunt for pokemon or shiny hunt in every game is by only collecting the pokemon that are available through the game without transferring. Like before these Vivillon forms weren’t available i would’ve just gotten a Fancy pattern and its shiny version, but now that all of it’s forms can be caught in-game i’ll get all their patterns and shiny versions. Whelp good thing i have multiple 3DS and already am shiny hunting in those systems on X and Y lol. Already got 8 of the 18 patterns.

I'm glad I got the pokeball pattern when I could. I also got the Elegant when it was still event exclusive, so there's a chance the Pokeball could be too.
May want to stock up on the rarer patterns like Sandstorm to trade once Home for Scarlet and Violet goes live. Good for trades. Or horde Rare Pattern postcards in GO and wait until HOME.

I think provolone is pretty popular in the US! A lot of sandwich places use it. I love it on tuna sandwiches and french dip sandwiches. We almost always have provolone in our fridge.
Provolone is a VERY popular sub cheese, like it's one of the three they usually offer you.
You can also shiny hunt all of these with yourself as the OT, just make a bug sammie and go to this same area.
Thankfully I already have all obtainable switch Vivillon patterns. I'm more interested in the gimmigoul. Thanks for the info!

0:40 wouldn’t it make more sense to put regional forms at the end especially since we have no idea which Pokémon could get a regional next? Like this generation alone we got three forms of Tauros, must take forever to shift everything over just for those

I just got done with a spreadsheet logging what postcards I had in Go and what countries I would need friends from! The Silph Road map was clutch.
I got a shiny Continental last night no problem. I set up an outbreak and sent over the card.

Just want to point out you can transfer a traded pokemon on Go to Home, and Home will still show you as the OT. I know technically it is not the case but that's how Home is currently working for me.
I've got 3 of the 19 patterns' shinies and and 10 more patterns' postcards in Go ready to send, this is a much better way to get Vivillon than in other games.
Personally prefer to reroll for an outbreak, then send the postcard and hunt the outbreak.
hm. Gonna have to hunt down more regional postcards and keep them in the postcard book. Still, looking forward to being able to obtain at least 8-10 of the Vivillon patterns that I have preserved postcards for.

05:30 Yes, until you send another card from Go the Vivillon in your game will have the pattern from your former send card.
And unlike GO, the switch doesn't have daily limit. So if you can ask a friend (different GO account) to send postcard, you can have several Patterns in one day.
