Great start! After more than 10 years on a kayak I ditched the crate last season with vertical rod storage. I use a bag for the lakes and a separate bag for creeks/rivers. I usually take 5 rods that lay flat either on the floor in front of me or in horizontal tubes behind me. I like to keep things as flat as possible. Most of the time the rigging on the 5 rods covers what I need to be throwing for the day. Pairing down has greatly improved my time out.
That’s a heckuva war wagon brother! You can always put beef jerky in that second storage box you talked about 😂. A serious tip- just because you have the capability to carry 6 rods and all the boxes, doesn’t mean you should. I’ve found I only use half of what I bring- the other half just gets in the way.
Debo, don't overload on tackle, it will only confuse you. You already know what's working and can concentrate on the essentials. I'm happy for you and look forward to great days on the water. I bet you attract more viewers quickly. Good luck and good fishing.
I’m glad you ended up enjoying a kayak because you used to not think very highly of them and I have loved mine for years so I’m glad you finally became “one of us one of us”
I’ve ran vertical rod storage the last few years, but I’ll be trying out some horizontal ones this year. At least it’ll help to have a wacky worm ready to toss back in if they don’t fully commit to my other lure. Make sure you take it out empty once it’s warm and practice flipping it and then getting back into it. Looking like a real kayaker now sir. 🍾
One tip and maybe someone has said this to you already - but if you never let your shoulders and head outside the edge of your kayak you are about 98% safe from flipping it.
One storage tip (applies a little more to bank angling) I use one of the waterproof plano stowaway bags for my spinnerbaits. Stays really slim and fits in a backpack really well!
Remember safety first. Besides a first aid box, you'll also need some tools and spare parts for your pedal drive. You also might need to rethink what you need after you take it out a few times. Make clear water and dirty water boxes. This you're not going through everything you owe. Guardian angel makes a kayak kit system with a remote to turn off and on, so don't have to leave your seat. Keep your head inside the kayak to prevent flipping. There's some great videos on what to do if you flip and how to get back in. I hope this helps you with your new adventure, and thanks for your videos . Be safe 👊😎👍
Debo, I'm glad you're loving the yak. I always take more than I need or will even use, but I'd rather have too much than not enough. That's why I got a bigger yak. 😂
Not related to todays show but wanted to say thanks for your show been watching for a few years and started watching because I was out of fishing for a long time and decided to get back into it and because of your channel I caught my pb on a wacky rig sinko I saw on your channel and now I’m having a lot of luck at my local pond on the 1st gen topspin so thank again for showing me new lures and techniques to try out.
Nice setup. Like others are saying, you will want to probably downsize some as loading/unloading becomes more of a chore the more stuff you pack. Also, you'll want to turn your crate around with rods in the back so you can access the items in the crate easier and you'll still have no issues getting the rods. Keep them out of your way.
Needed a DebosFishing Video my friend thank you truly. I was going to mention the IFAK but you beat me to it lol. It looks like you have it covered and safe to float Devon and I’m stoked like your other Feeshin Friends for Future Kayak Videos. I have a Backpack with 2 Plano boxes and still think I carry to much stuff but always want to carry more lol if that makes sense. Stay safe my Friend, Semper Fidelis and I’m gonna try and send you an EPRB just in case.
Hey debo love to see you get into yak fishing! Quick tip for those rod holders that are built in to the yak. Make sure you tie your combos down. I lost a combo using them it sometimes seems like the rod doesn’t go all the way down into them and if a wave hits the combo slips out and sink. Other than that these yaks are awesome
Can’t wait to see some on the water content. Took me 3 years to finally tweak my set up like Legos for adults. I’d drop them rods down on an angle. Yak attack makes all the gadgets good luck
I use the buzbe quik qube on my boat for soft plastic and it's nice. You can get a color coded or just white labels and mark on them. It makes it fast to find and accessible. They hold a ton of plastics
Kayak fishing is, in my opinion, just the best way to fish all around. Yes wind can be the worst thing an angler can experience, but it still is an amazing way of catching fish.
I take two 3700, one 3600, and a plastic bag each of soft plastics and hooks. Weights and whatnot in a large Spro terminal box. That’s the most tackle I’ll bring with me.
I used to take a ton of tackle with me, but a lot of it never got touched. Now I take 5 3600 boxes and two 6 sense zip bags for plastics and find it’s plenty for anything I want to do.
That's a lot of tackle there my friend. I recently cut down on the amount of tackle I carry, and last time out i still didn't fish half the baits/lures I brought. Not a kayak guy, so I will abstain to speak on what you should pack in regards to safety, or what's required. Love you videos man. ✌️😎🎣
Doin pretty good on storage my dude! Looks like you're covered for practically every situation you might run into. It's nice to have all the stuff you need right there on the yak!
Dang that thing has a ton of space. I never used a kayak to fish with but it definitely has enough room. I'm pretty sure I don't even have that much stuff in my fishing boat 😂 😂
Not sure where in Iowa you are, but I have picked up several of the 3700 size Plano Edge Terminal Tackle Boxes at FleetFarm in Des Moines for $26.99. Not sure why they are marked about half of everywhere else, and they only stock about 2 at a time. I use the 3700s to organize all my terminal and then put what I need for the day in a 3600 Edge Terminal and carry that on the Kayak. Thanks for all of your videos!
😂 you will figure it out. You won’t need that much stuff but you have to figure that out for yourself. I usually carry my rain gear in the front hatch. Sunscreen and bug spray are a must. Worst is getting eaten by mosquitos when the evening bite hits. You will find you can get into better spots with less poles. I only carry 2 any more so I can lay them down to get under tree branches especially in the river. Lake fishing I may carry more because there really aren’t very many obstacles overhead.
I'm in the process of switching out all of my tackle boxes to individual trays that I can swap in and out of bags. Got tired of trying to keep up with the various tackle boxes and what they were setup for. At least with the trays I can trade in and out for various species and be able to see what's in each tray without having to open it up.
Where are the topwaters🤠I have one of those Plano boxes(the heavy duty one) and keep my wallet and keys in it. Also GoPro stuff. Get one of those phone sleeves that has a lanyard:Wear it and you’ll always know where it is and keep it safe. Don’t ask me why, it was a expensive mistake 😂
Dude keep some rope in the Kayak. They sell boat safety kits, maybe grab one of those. Most importantly, keep a set of dry clothes with you in a waterproof ziplock bag. Hopefully you never need this stuff, but better to have it available.
those guardian angle light were originally made for first responders when they were working near the roadway. but they do make great lights for a boat. what brand of lithium battery are you running?
3 tim÷s? I only trecall one kayak video 😢 Mic or volume or something a bit off on this video. Loved the walk through. Would like to see some more tackle walk through from you. Show us your bank bag, the basement fishing cave, how u store stuff.
Those 6th Sense bags are awesome! Just got one for my soft plastics. Just one problem… My (very small) backpack can’t hold the 6th bag. The plan is to get a new bag. Looking at the large Diawa D-Vec. Anyone have it? And do yall like it? Anyone else recommend something different?
It's going to be really hard to reach the boxes behind you, especially with the rods between you and the crate. I know cause i have almost flipped trying to twist around and grab a box.
Less is more when it comes to kayak gear. Eventually you will become tired of carrying around an extra 50 ti 100 lbs of stuff you never use. Additionally it puts an added strain on you and the boat when lugging in and out of the water. This will cause little cracks in the boat. Best of luck. Dont forget to try trolling.
You're OVERPACKING. In recent years, after kayak bassin' for many years, I like to pack "less", based on two max. Examples: Two MHF rods (that being my most used), in case one breaks; one Medium, one medium light so 4 rods total. After that, if I ever find 4 setups isn't enough, I just retie with the rods I brought. Most days, I end up using only two rods, no matter how many more I take. Two colours max of a given bait. Most days, I end up using only one colour, no matter how many more I take. You're never going to use all that you own, until you leave behind what you previously used that worked best previously (otherwise you'll end up using it again and the other stuff will be every trip unused baggage). RELATED: Bring some sort of open cup or open tray to accumulate your daily discarded baits like treble hook lures you purposely cut off. Let them open-air dry and don't put them back in the designated sealed 3600 or 3700 until they've dried overnight.
Your gunna hate loading and unloading all that everytime you go out. Consolidate your tackle into the necessities the day before. Do your research befor going onto the water.... nice yak though.
I know it's new and exciting and all but you're overdoing it. Even in tournament situations I cant imagine needing that much tackle for even a 10 hour day on the water.
Great start! After more than 10 years on a kayak I ditched the crate last season with vertical rod storage. I use a bag for the lakes and a separate bag for creeks/rivers. Randy was looking at that jig box drooling 🤤!
Looks good. Thats a ton of storage

It looks good Debo. Enjoy be safe and fish on my friend
Seeing a new debo post reminds me of the T.G.I.F. shows back in the day. i Just knew i was gonna kick back and watch some good stuff.

I will start out like you, lighter to get comfortable fishing on the Yak platform. Tight lines Debo!
Debo, I'm glad you're loving the yak. I always take more than I need or will even use, but I'd rather have too much than not enough. That's why I got a bigger yak. 😂
Love in your energy. Awesome video the only thing is a spare prop and possibly a Roto grip mount for your net so you don’t lose that in the water
Nice set up, enjoy!
I so love this, as you know. Grab a manual water pump, just in case

Glad to hear you’re loving the yak!
Its nice to see how everyone sets up their rig for what works best for them. Thanks for the tip on making a small first aid kit.

I'm so excited for you and all the great content coming. Hopefully debo on the kayak tournament trail in the future.
What I like to do is put bungee cord across the crate to keep the boxes held up when I take one out so it makes it easier putting them in!
I take two 3700, one 3600, and a plastic bag each of soft plastics and hooks. Weights and whatnot in a large Spro terminal box.

Loving these vids. KEEP THEM COMING
He has turned into a Yakenstein before our very eyes! enjoy that thing Devon, life is short !
Doin pretty good on storage my dude! Looks like you're covered for practically every situation you might run into. It's nice to have all the stuff you need right there on the yak!
Great looking set up
I would add some rod leashes. I made mine with some snap dring clips and paracord. Trust me they come in handy
Hello feeshin friends. Yes. Thanks for all you do man. From up here in the mitten. Absolutely love the knowledge and all the content brother 🙏😎💯
One heck of a setup I’d say your pretty set for anything and I most say that beard is on another level haha
boat twins!!! I got the same one same color and all.
Dang that thing has a ton of space. I never used a kayak to fish with but it definitely has enough room. I'm pretty sure I don't even have that much stuff in my fishing boat 😂 😂
I think you’re already more organized than I am! 😂
Not sure where in Iowa you are, but I have picked up several of the 3700 size Plano Edge Terminal Tackle Boxes at FleetFarm in Des Moines for $26.99. dang Debo nice setup.. but the Frogs 🐸 lol

I think you're pretty well Decked Out
Fill a 3700 size box with 1-2 lures from each of your boxes and keep it under your seat
those guardian angle light were originally made for first responders when they were working near the roadway. but they do make great lights for a boat. what brand of lithium battery are you running?
Nice
Right off the deep end. You'll never be truly done.
I don't carry quite that much. But whatever you feel you need is what you need. I carry more than I think I should and reduce it because I'm lazy.
If you’ve made it to three trips, I’ve only got two more before I lose the bet on how soon you fall in. 😜
I keep a sling pack on my kayak and only throw the baits in have tied on
Jerkbaits fit there really well
3 tim÷s? I only trecall one kayak video 😢
Mic or volume or something a bit off on this video.
Loved the walk through. Would like to see some more tackle walk through from you. Show us your bank bag, the basement fishing cave, how u store stuff.

My (very small) backpack can’t hold the 6th bag.

Looks like your all dialed in.
It's going to be really hard to reach the boxes behind you, especially with the rods between you and the crate. I know cause i have almost flipped trying to twist around and grab a box.
i was surprised to see just how much i can bring on my kayak too , just don’t flip over with all of that!
I’m not sure the rules in your state, but in Texas the 360 light needs to be above head level to be legal
Hey Debo was wondering what part of Iowa you mainly fished at. I’m from Blackhawk county.

Really to much stuff
Why would you ever bring that much stuff two boxes and a box with terminal tackle you've lost your mind
@yakattack #blackpack #shortstack this is someone yall should send him one of these ...
