In what world has NCL cutting back on stateroom attendants has "increased satisfaction"? That's corporate buzz-speak if I've ever heard it.
I've sailed 5 or 6 NCL cruises in the last year and the cutback in attendants is obvious both in level of service and very obvious overwork of the poor attendants.
Internal studies = narratives
And I wonder if tips will see a bump UP as fewer people to take a cut of the pie!! My guess is: nope!! Have a great weekend, Doug!!

We just turned Sapphire at NCL but after sailing with them for years we decided it's not worth it anymore to us. The decline in services everywhere are too much, plus big cuts in entertainment,...we are booking different cruise lines and talking with many of our cruise friends we are not the only ones..."increased satisfaction"..rrright!
Honestly, I don’t mind once per day cleaning. I just wish on turnaround they would clean better.
I’m with you in this. My last NCL cruise, might be my last NCL cruise ever due to this, and other cutbacks. Plus, how do you expect to have the same of service, if the person cleaning the rooms isn’t fully trained in housekeeping?!

Afternoon Doug! NCL's less service yields higher satisfaction seems a bit "fishy" to me. And I'm guessing not all of those "idle" workers are thrilled about losing a bit of down time. I'm guessing nobody's seeing extra cash for extra work. I dunno NCL, we've been loyal but this is the kind of stuff that makes us wonder. 'Spose RCCL or Celebrity would be interested in our cash?
Good afternoon Doug! In what world does cutting back increase customer service? Was on NCL this past Nov and had to wait way longer than usual for the rooms to be ready. Found it strange that it was taking so much time. Now I know why 😮 Have a great weekend!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend Doug! Holy crap! (No pun intended 🤣) Allure of the Seas had a gastrointestinal outbreak? I witnessed passengers using restrooms on the cruise and not washing their hands afterwards on both my cruises on the Allure the last few months. I figured it was a matter of time before it happened. NCL just needs to say, "Your cabins will be cleaned by the pool drink attendants from now on...just leave your empty drink glasses on the table".

Sime lines do have performers assist directions/guidance embarkation & disembarking days, other days if needed.

Very disappointed with the NCL housekeeping services on an Early ‘24 Feb cruise in a balcony room. I’m hoping the Haven has kept their housekeeping standards the same for our Mediterranean cruise next week.

I thought I would miss 2x housekeeping but I didnt. I just told my steward that anytime in the afternoon is better than morning for me. I am a clean freak anyway so theres not much to do for the steward. I dont like my cabin messy bc it is too small for chaos. I still provide a decent tip to my steward. Its not their fault.

NCL did something similar with casino dealers years ago. On port days when the casino was closed dealers would have the time free and to themselves, relax go ashore whatever. Then they had them doing other duties like direct the new passengers on turnaround days and other duties as well. I don’t know how it is today maybe contracted casino staff? But the dealer i worked with up north left because of this, changing his room to accommodate 2 to 4 crew and some other reasons. Btw, dealer wages were about $15 a day plus tokes….er ah tips.

I love NCL but they keep increasing price and Decreasing experience and service. My next cruise is Carnival and plan to try other lines.

Yet again, NCL takes things away from passengers (twice-daily service) and cuts back on staff, all while making more money than ever. I'd love to talk to the person at NCL who said that somehow, cutting back on cleaning crews led to "increased customer satisfaction." Wonder what they'll say when fewer cleaning crew leads to increased outbreaks of various contagions? "Guests are expressing extreme satisfaction with the medical facilities."
We sailed on Carnival Venezia in April and there were still several scooters parked in the hallways. P.S. the food on the Venezia is the WORST on the sea!!!!!
Hopefully the time I go,,the food will be better..My trip is Oct 2025
@@monteemontee2551 I hope so for you. If Carnival actually reads the review we submitted after our cruise, maybe they will change the food quality. If you are getting the drinks for free while you play deal in the casino, good luck. In 10 days we were able to get 3-4 drinks in total.

I don't think rooms necessarily need to be cleaned everyday if the same guests are using it. They definitely need to be disenfected between guests or someone vomits or has diarrhea.

It is horrible on NCL. They’re overworked‼️ Two had quit, who had been hired by Princess‼️
I understand NCL’s decision but it is sad that these individuals will not have a job
The use of scooters has gotten out of hand.. People use them that can walk but they don't want to.. Cruising means a lot of people in small spaces, and the hallways are already pretty narrow.. People parking the scooters in the hallway creates a potential danger for everyone else and they block the room stewards from moving their carts around as well..
People who need mobility scooters should perhaps reconsider cruising as a vacation option. The ship is just too tight to accommodate them and they're always in the way.
This is a ridiculous statement. I hope you NEVER have a disability that requires you to use a mobility scooter. And if you do, I hope no one ever tells you " you are in the way, go do something else". No. I do not have mobility issues but I do have empathy for those that do.
Absurd statement. My sister has cruised for two decades thanks to mobility scooters. Why is she considered in your way? The ships accommodate her easily. It’s passengers like you who make it difficult.
@@margaretlusk5556 If I were as you say, I wouldn't be selfish enough to burden other guests with my existence on a ship with tight walking paths, slowing them down, knocking into them, and generally always being in the way. Picture a scooter in front of you, delaying your entrance into a lifeboat in an emergency situation. I would find another type of vacation that could accommodate my condition.
Empathy is a weakness. Train yourself to overcome it.
Sorry if this sounds mean; but the problem with disabilities, these days, is that everyone seems to have one.
Most people I see in motorized chairs are obese and could use a few laps around the deck.
Sadly, the people with missing limbs, and other srerious issues, are wheeling themselves around in standard wheel-chairs, because, they do not see themselves as privileged.
Please don’t make generalizations like this about all scooter passengers. My sister has cruised with a mobility scooter for two decades. Many disabilities are not visible.
@@MJinFloridayou're right - my brother has MS, which isn't obvious to most people but he doesn't want a scooter or even a motorized wheelchair. The other poster does have a point.
How ironic that the first story was about an illness outbreak that required “enhanced cleaning”, and then the last story was about cutting back on housekeeping. Personally I’d rather wait a bit longer if it means everything is thoroughly cleaned.
The more I hear about NCL, the less I like them. Take the day off Doug - you've earned it!

Good morning Doug, from Riverton UT. I was just wondering. On a receient sailing on the HAL Eurodam I saw several scooters parked neatly away in the elevator waiting areas. Seeing a how HAL falls under Carnival brand, is this option acceptable?
Are they kidding? No cuts equal increased satisfaction.
Even once a day room cleaning will soon be an endangered species on the major cruise lines.

I just came off my first NCL Cruise, and it's very obvious that the stateroom service leaves a lot to be desired, and the attendants are very overworked. Our attendant seemed downright depressed, we worried about him a lot.
I sailed on NCL for the first (and last) time a year ago. My dissatisfaction had absolutely nothing to do with the crew, but that's a story for another day. The steward was excellent and I made sure to fill out the card so he got credit. The crew all over the ship were very good so I'm sorry to see that they'll have more pressure put upon them.
Ships do not have hallways, they are called passageways.

not all true as to scooters. carnival works with ONE specific rental company called SCOOTERROUND and all their scooters fit in side rooms... i have gotten mine in an INSIDE- AN OCEANVIEW and my Balcony.

I was on my one and only NCL cruise last year. That line is squeezing every penny out of its passengers - all the so called deals were nothing but bait and switch. After I returned, I got a flyer from Oceania and just to satisfy my curiosity, I compared my cruise to theirs for the same itinerary and duration. Despite being considered a luxury line, Oceania charged less and offered more. The only way I'd sail NCL again is if someone paid me to go - literally.
Cruise costs keep going up and services go down. I like how Princess still has twice a day room refresh. Guess I won’t be trying NCL with less housekeepers.

Ngl people with scooters usually are not fully disabled and need one. And those are the people that are so entitled and so rude.
Please don’t make generalizations like this about all scooter passengers. My sister has cruised with a mobility scooter for two decades. Many disabilities are not visible.

I am not a "Grinch," but seeing people on their scooters on a ship gives me the shivers for their survivability in case of abandoning ship or any other extreme emergency. How are the crew going to get them to safety if these people cannot move about on their own two feet? I hope this never happens, but...
