lols that what I always thinks. yaar nafarat hai Indian consider as Asian country but somehow people dont know .. hell with it .. I sick of this . India is asian country .
+Rita Geraghty its tricky at first.. while eating with only right hand, you use your index finger to hold the roti on the plate and with thumb and middle finger, pull it to tear a small portion of it. If you can't break then roti is not up to the mark ;)
Thanks. I am from Ireland. My British-born cousin married cousin married an Indian man. He told me some of Indian table manners. For example, he told me that adding salt and peppers to Indian foods is an insult to an Indian chef. That is new to me. I didn't know that salt and pepper are not laid out on Indian tables. Another mistake I made, I finished off the meal, leaving nothing on plate. I think that either my mother or cousin's husband told me that was an insult to an Indian chef who thinks that he hasn't fed me enough. I can't remember which one told me. That too was new to me, bcoz I'm thick Irish.
+Alan Nikolai Stratmann better to read a sentence twice or thrice he is saying that better to eat your food with your own hands no where he mentioned you to feed him
Ok. A few things. 1.India is in Asia. 2.In North American style you hold the fork with your right hand and cut with the knife in left. 3. That naan looks a little disconcerting, almost like uncooked bread. 4. Chickpea curry is eaten with puffed fried puris and not naan. 5. You tear the naan/puri with the right hand alone. 6. Lastly for crying out loud, eating with hands isn't exclusive to India. So its technically incorrect to say eating like an 'Indian'. Bon appetit!
I'm grateful that an Indian friend taught me the right way to eat Indian food. She taught a bunch of us over dinner once, as it was the first time eating Indian food for most of us there.
Indian food is generally eaten by one hand, and that's the right hand. I hate it when people eat with their left hand because left hand is used for something else. .. that's common sense.
I love how you've put this together, giving us a comparative view of eating techniques. My kids found it very instructive (and they have been begging me for more naan ever since, but that is probably not totally down to your video, to be honest). I have dutifully spread the word for you!
umm i am actually not an indian but i love indian food and tradition a lot and one day i will be visiting india i hope the trip of mine in punjab ,india will be the best trip ever
And not just refried beans, corn smut, steamed prickly pear, dipping the piece of corn tortilla in hot salsa for that ZING, chicken and rice with that chocolate sauce we call mole, its a messy sight but FOOD never tasted better! ;)
But Traditionally the Gari is not suppose to be added to the roll and Wasabi aren't suppose to be added to the soy sauce. Gari is there to cleanse the pellet so that you can move on the next dish.
Eating with your bare hands is possible in every country and culture, depending on the food type. But using cutlery often makes sense beyond just pure etiquette. It is often also cleaner and more hygienic.
People in the comment section are so dumb raising questions like "So Indians are not asian" "Isn't that asians style of eating" - India is a a part asia just like diversity in india asia is a diverse continent as well. Different asians countries have different methods, many south asian countries eat with their hands (and that's okay we use spoons as well) , While east asian countries use chopsticks (even their chopsticks vary koreans use stainless steel chopsticks while Japanese, Chinese use bamboo one's) while Russians up in the north have their own way just like the oceana region of Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines etc. The title of this vid is *"ACCURATE"* , indians are asians so stop. Its diversity
YES! this is how I eat Indian food. I like to use a bowl though so I can scoop the entree easier :) Also - your sushi section, the ginger isn't supposed to be eaten WITH the sushi, you eat bits of it plain to clear your palette before eating something different. Just thought I'd share! :D
She eat like an asian wrong. Ginger is meant to cleanse the palate between pieces. Not to be put on top. Authentic sushi restaurants also eat with their hands.
Hmmm....eating with your fingers is COOL! Yeah, us mexicans also eat with our fingers, before our introduction to plates(european origin)we probably used our tortillas as plates(tacos were invented at that moment, i guess) and ate the plate and the food all at once. :)
My mum would scold me if I use my both hands to tare the naan it's not table manners at all I found it hard at the beginning but got used to use.. though I'm a south side Puri is kinda easy to tare...but parata is damn hard
Indian is also a Asian but they have different culture so that's why they eat their foods by different ways most of all use their hands here for eating food and sometimes spoons
I don't know why this with hand and without hand topic is going on if people have no hands then they can use forks or sticks but why they are using i don't know i feel better to eat food with hand
You mentioned Asian and Indian style simultaneously. Is India not in Asia. Or you should have mentioned the chopstick part as 'asian with small eyes'.😅😅😅😅 Disclaimer: u r supposed to laugh at it and not spam the comment section with 'racist' word Di
The whole time I've been folding it like a burrito when I eat at Indian restaurants. I bet the cooks and servers were laughing at me in the background..
First of all Indians are "ASIANS" secondly don't tear naan roti with two hands; it's a bad manner
So India is not in Asia ?

Baby steps I guess... Europeans don't know how to tear bread with 1 hand.
Btw, an extra question: what do you do if you run out of bread?
Is that roti unusually thick? It's like gyro thickness...
+ Aaron Beast
You mean *NORTH* Indian cuisine, don't you? In Southern India, its much more rice than it is wheat.
Step 1. Wash your hands with soap

+Rita Geraghty its tricky at first.. while eating with only right hand, you use your index finger to hold the roti on the plate and with thumb and middle finger, pull it to tear a small portion of it. If you can't break then roti is not up to the mark ;)
Abhishek, thanks for tips. Tomorrow, I am going to order Indian takeaway and I am going to try your technique.
+Rita Geraghty ok.. :).. if you can't, i will make a special clip of this for you ..

Ok. A few things.

Proud to be an Indian. Give me a thumbs up if u all accept it
Americans eat with hands too… think fast food lol
MrTxawjcoj not like that you just pick something up and eat it
But Americans don’t wash their hands before they eat and they use both hands. so sloppily. It’s the truth sorry
MrTxawjcoj everyone eats with hands. How do they think we hold our forks and knives with? Legs?
East or west Indian style is the best.
Just went through comments to see if anybody corrected the grammar " like AN European" !!
Mexicans eat re-fried beans like that with tortilla....
And not just refried beans, corn smut, steamed prickly pear, dipping the piece of corn tortilla in hot salsa for that ZING, chicken and rice with that chocolate sauce we call mole, its a messy sight but FOOD never tasted better! ;)
Eat with one hand and enjoy your meal that's all how Indians eat.
Im a mexican and i also eat like indian people
indians eat everything with their hands, even rice.
So how do you 'fold and pinch' mashed potatoes and other kinds of food???
you ate in asian, europian and african style better than u ate in Indian style...even the roti you made was quite like bread !!
Nadeem Patel that wasn't a roti . it was a "kulcha"
Nadeem Patel true
rasik Narula no that’s a naan
Nadeem Patel the roti should be round
It's naan right
Eating Indian style is easy , interesting, scientific, and love....❤
little tip guys ... you can use left hand to hold a spoon and scoop the food inside the piece of roti in your right hand
We don't use left hand while eating food unless you are left handed.

But Traditionally the Gari is not suppose to be added to the roll and Wasabi aren't suppose to be added to the soy sauce. Gari is there to cleanse the pellet so that you can move on the next dish.

Bhai...Chole ke saath kaun Naan bread khata hai bencho"😒😒😒
EDWIN TIRKEY Naan ko " naan bread " kon bolta hai ?
Karan Sharma# puri duniya...aur haan Teri roti ko bhi bread he kehte hai...western culture mein"😒😒😒
EDWIN TIRKEY agar tu western culture ke logic se chalta hai toh fer tujhe " naan bread " ke saath chhole khane se kya problem hai ?
Karan Sharma kyuuki vo chapati ya roti bhi nahi hai. Vo naan hai. Vo western logon ka roti hai.
Vayona Narekuli if you are ok with that fact then why fuss over eating it with chhole ?
Eating with your bare hands is possible in every country and culture, depending on the food type. But using cutlery often makes sense beyond just pure etiquette. It is often also cleaner and more hygienic.
First basic etiquette for indian food, wash your hands before starting, use only in hand right, ( only left you are left handed),
Is it acceptable to tear the bread with two hands? Or is it possible with one hand?
People in the comment section are so dumb raising questions like "So Indians are not asian" "Isn't that asians style of eating" - India is a a part asia just like diversity in india asia is a diverse continent as well. The 'one more time' got me so excited
it's more hygienic to use utensils rather than hands... but if you've had a chance to wash first hands are ok...
Indian is also a Asian but they have different culture so that's why they eat their foods by different ways most of all use their hands here for eating food and sometimes spoons
You can only use your Right hand to eat not the Left it is considered unclean

No wonder the Indian servers were laughing at me when I tried to wrap it up and eat it like a burrito
