If anyone caught me timing the injection pump at 26* BTDC, don’t worry, I caught it too while editing, and went back in the garage and re-timed it at 24* BTDC
I set to 27 BTDC for "start of injection" (drip method) on my 1984 & 85 M-B 300D. Recommended by some on Benzworld and PeachParts to give slightly more power, at expense of slightly rougher idle. I didn't notice a difference and idle is smooth, partly because I fill with renewable diesel (avail in CA only).
Cheers man! I appreciate the support! When the jeep is done I’d love to setup a meetup with all the OM617 swap guys! I’d love to check out everyone’s rigs and go wheeling!
what kind of paint did you use for the valve cover? I am going thru my om617 right now. Also i have the block heater but need to get a cord for it. any idea where i can get one? fyi these engines run really good on used atf
I'm swapping one into a 95 Ford ranger with a Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front, NV3500 trans and np205 transfer case. 37" tires. Hopefully it'll make enough power 🤣
@@robertsfabworks6579 I've seen the small square style however havent seen the style your using, would you happen to know which year model used your type? Thanks again and nice job.
Thanks for the concern! These are actually Parker “Push-Lock” fittings and hose, and are made specifically to be used without hose clamps, they are rated to 300psi and we regularly run 200psi of shop air and chemical through them at my work, so I was confident in using them for my oil system, as I’ve seen a maximum of about 100psi of oil pressure in my engine.
Cool video bro, loving the series. Really helping motivate me to want to go work on my junk in the garage lol. Do you need a fuel filter adaptor for that Baldwin or is that direct part swap? Keep me coming amigo!
ok. im building a 71 cj6 into a truck with a commando front end. om617, he221w, 7.5mm elements. im going to put the engine in a truck and bring it to your house when i build it. =) where do you live? ;-)

Diesel meken told me to set timing to 22btdc on my 7.5 m pump

Thanks for the details. For Louisiana owned 3 diesel MB in the past.
thank you for doing such a great job with the editing, i also have a jeep with an om617 and i envy how clean your build is, i got notifications on!

@@robertsfabworks6579 what part of the usa are you in? that sounds like a great idea 💡
@@WatsonFabrication I’m in Michigan, but I’d love to try to set something up both here and somewhere more central in the US to get some more people!

Nice job.... My 617 was enameled AMC Blue. $600 but it looks cool in my 81 CJ.
Great! very nice and clean work, I do the same but in Land Rover series 3.
Did you have to make an adapter plate to mount to your trans?

Just VHT engine enamel, so far it’s held up really well if you give it some good time to cure in a warm room in the house or next to the fireplace.
@@robertsfabworks6579 i am going thru my injectors and setting pop pressures right now. had this engine apart for a few years.

How did you bolt it to a nv3500? I have a s10 with a bad engine I'm thinking about swapping.
Can I get a parts list of the swap I'm probably gonna do this to my tj
Bro these 40 psi oil pressure regulators can also cause oil leaks in turbo internally as ur turbo grows old.
How did you wire everything

Very Nice Job. What Vibration Isolators are you using on your engine Mounts?
1st gen Dodge cummins engine mounts

No hose clamps on the red oil hoses? I would highly recommend this.

How much horsepower and torque do you have with the bigger elements in the injection pump?
I was getting about 150hp and 225tq if I had to guess. I’d love to get it on the dump one day but we’ll see 🤞🏻

You just need a thread adapter and a bit of grinding, the threaded adapter has a part number in my other video
