  • In this video I walk you through the steps it took to build a wooden swing for my Niece. The swing is built from red maple that was harvested off our family property and milled on my sawmill. It is extra special knowing that the lumber came from the place my sister and I grew up. I took extra care in the project because it holds so much more meaning that a normal project. I also put extra thought into making sure there is no part of the swing that could potentially harm the kids. Thanks for watching and let me know what you think!

Hi Chris I hope you still remember the steps you took to build this lovely swing. My question is how did you manage to do a half lap on your table saw if the piece was to have a 5 degree angle on it.?

I believe I just scribed a line at the 5 degree angle and held the piece off the fence on the table saw sled to match that angle.

Nice project, Chris. Is the finish suitable for outdoor weather? Did you use waterproof glue? Is the hardware zinc plated or stainless steel. Looking forward to seeing more videos.
